No, it doesn’t tread new territory that hasn’t been explored in a previous expansion, but nonetheless The Sims 2 Pets turns out to surprisingly be the most engaging and addictive expansion yet for The Sims 2.
-
Pelit (Finland)EA finally brings long-awaited family pets into the game. The surprisingly realistic-looking animals are fun to train and play with, and make the add-on yet another must-have for The Sims fans. [Oct 2006, p.82]
-
Games Master UKPets is a worthy expansion pack. It's almost as much fun as a stick and a real dog. [Dec 2006, p.75]
-
If you love animals or you are playing The Sims 2 and want more, then you should definitely get this expansion.
-
PC GamerOverall, however, pet lovers and fans of The Sims 2 will find this expansion disc more fun than licking yourself silly--and believe me, it doesn't get much better than that. [Jan. 2007, p.74]
-
For an expansion pack, there is plenty to do and see and it adds a completely new level of variety to your Sims' already busy life.
-
Savvy on style, The Sims 2: Pets is a worthy addition to the laundry list of expansions currently available on the market.
-
The Sims 2 Pets add-on is the best yet, and breathes a fresh breath of air into the best-selling game as it enters its third year.
-
By adding yet another layer of realism with the presence of animals - dogs barking in the distant night, cats napping on the couch, rodents running in their squeaky wheel - your Sims' world becomes richer and, thus, your gaming experience more enjoyable.
-
PC Gamer UKIt does everything you'd want from a pet-focused expansion pack. Nothing more, nothing less. [Dec 2006, p.115]
-
Like any new pet, sometimes it will drive you crazy when it pees on the floor, but the moment it does something adorable and curls up on the end of the bed you will love it all over again.
-
If you enjoy The Sims 2, and if you’re excited by the prospect of designing and caring for digital pets, you’ll probably enjoy this expansion, too.
-
The Sims 2: Pets is a very entertaining, exciting expansion pack filled with curious critters and adorable pets, so if you loved the last pets expansion, you will be sure to love this one.
-
It's not a bad expansion by any means, it just feels rather light compared to the previous three expansions.
-
The expansion only changes the game on a strictly superficial level, although it does this extremely well.
-
When it comes down to it, Pets is hands-down the least significant and useful of the Sims 2 expansion packs.
-
So while it's a Sims 2 expansion, and while it's about pets, it's a wellmade, superbly polished addition to the original game.
-
The Pets expansion adds an interesting wrinkle to The Sims 2 but won't set the world, or even your sims' house, on fire.
-
Computer Games MagazinePets makes it easier to keep the fun and social scores up, but they can be very demanding of your all-too precious time. [Dec. 2006, p.71]
-
AceGamezThe Sims 2: Pets isn't for life - it's just for Christmas… this Christmas!
-
One of the smallest expansion packs released yet, you now have pets running around your house but the lack of human additions is a little disappointing.
-
If you're a hardcore Sims 2 fan and you've greedily gobbled up all the expansions to date, Pets is a great way to give your neighborhood some variety. For players who are just coming into the game fresh, though, the other expansions provide a lot more substance.
-
Game InformerA slim offering of new items and interactions in Pets adds less tot he core gameplay of The Sims 2 than any previous expansion. [Dec 2006, p.150]

Nov 20, 2021Slow to load up but loved the fact you can interact with your pets better than the sims 1 and the fact they can age up.
