Seemingly a clone of The Sims at first glance, The Partners does a good number of things well to distinguish itself.
-
Behaving very much like an R-rated Sims expansion pack but independent of that series, The Partners is a silly and entertaining piece of gameplay fluff.
-
This game is entertaining but really doesnt have the depth of play that The Sims sports.
-
PC GamerThe goings-on will keep you interested. Just don't expect anything too deep or innovative. [Nov 2002, p.129]
-
Partners isn't terribly, irreproachably broken (opening cinematic not withstanding), it's just clumsy and awkward. The game lacks enough in every single department to be unworthy of a serious player's attention (the gamers who play for the game).
-
The game was fun and if you enjoy "Ally McBeal" and "The Sims" then this game will be right up your alley.
-
It's a sure bet that there will be countless "Sims" clones in the next few years. The Partners is one of the first, and it could turn out to be one of the most blatant.

Computer Gaming WorldThe only good thing about The Partners was that myriad technical flaws prevented me from having to suffer through completing the game...I have never been so happy for programming incompetence in my life. [Sept 2002, p.93]
