A very good First Person Shooter RPG, with a very unique story and interesting side quests that are really engaging.
The skill tree wasn't what I was waiting for, but it's simple and very straight to the point.

Finally got around to playing this game. forgot it even came out. to be straight to the point. its a simple game that borrows fallout mechanics. story nothing to get excited about. no romance, no side missions that will really standout. its just a simple easy going game that you really dont need to pay to much attention to. i hope the second one has more to it.

Pirated this, played it for two hours and deleted it.

The worst dialogue I've seen since Mass Effect Andromeda. No idea how it has so many positive reviews.

Although RPG mechanics aren't too complex and fighting mechanics are also not the best in the business and Sadly there wasn't any romances or deeply bonds with the crew or any NPC, overall experience was really enjoyable and definitely the other worlds is worth a shot! -- All of this wouldn't be a big problem if this game has a decent autosave mechanism. Sadly, it doesn't. Autosave is next to non-existent. You rely on your own manual saves.

This is truly a laughable piece of terrible spaghetti coding. I believe somewhere during the process of developing this game, the developer found out their open-world and open-end approach had just gone out of hand, so they invented this concept of "botched missions", so even if the player messed up all the missions, they can still "finish" the game. What a lame cop-out solution.

If you do want to try this game, read guides [diligently] and [in detail]. The game will be spoiled for you, but at least you don't have to restart the whole game just because you went to the wrong place at the wrong time.

It's fine for a FPSRPG. It's not New Vegas 2, it's a New Vegas Clone. Playing the game seems more like a bigger version of Bioshock. The game is pretty easy if you're an RPG expert, survival mode is probably a better challenge. And It gets better when you leave the first environment.

New Vegas'a benzeyen bir diğer şeyse combat'ın dandikliği.

Amazing game, very entertaining. The possibilities are endless, I don't know how they have included so much content in the game with so much variation in dialogues and events. The cartooni graphics is kinda interesting as well and the world is very colorful which I really prefer to a grey world like fallout's. Totally worth spending time in it.

But what's the case being made for the bad guys? This game will obviously be compared to fallout new vegas because the whole pitch of the game was that it was made by the guys that created fallout, so in coming in I expected I will have to make hard choices and carefully choose who i align myself with, for instance in new vegas you knew that both factions had good and bad qualities and you had to live with what you choose, in this game there's no such a thing.

Characters are bland as hell, terminals are boring, no variety in enemies or weapons, im glad i pirated this game instead of paying money for it.

I completely understand the low and average scores. I really do. I mean... this is a game that feels like ti was developed in a time capsule or something. Fallout: New Vegas is probably my favourite RPG of all time. And Mass Effect is probably my favourite trilogy of all time. So a game that combines the two is something I'm going to like no matter what, and if you spice the whole thing with a bit of Firefly flavour? Man... I'm going to LOVE IT. And that's what this is, basically.

So yeah, I get why some may have felt disapointed by it. Why maybe some people wanted something... I don't know, more modern, more flashy, deeper, more complex or whatever. I totally do. It's understandable. But I can't lie, man, I just liked this a lot.

Very ugly game. The mission structures and sense of freedom are quality and drew me in for a while, but the world and characters are ugly in every sense, in an obviously intentional anti-aesthetic design choice. This game wasn't designed to be gratifying to normal players; that much is clear.

Summary: Great concept, but that's about it. Very uneven writing. Very disappointing for Obsidian. It's ok. Barely. But not great, or even good.

    Cons:

    1. Graphics are AWFUL. I have no idea what people are talking about when they say it's a beautiful game. The artwork is nice but this is graphically on par with KOTOR or maybe Fallout 3. It's so bad it's beyond distracting. And I like retrogames like Wasteland 2 but it doesn't work as well in a FPS.

    2. Writing is very uneven. Some things are very funny, others are painful to read through, especially a lot of the "relationship" quests.

    3. Crashes frequently. Hard crashes, that require full restart.

    4. On Hard, I had unlimited money, just didn't feel that challenging overall.

    5. 30 Hours in, still disappointed with all the corporate intrigue. Maybe it gets better but not very exciting so far. Also, missions themselves are usually very simple and boring.

    6. Monsters respawn too quickly making walking through the same areas unnecessarily annoying. There's no reason to respawn them at all.

    7. Companions always run into your line of fire. Awful AI.

    8. Interface is far wonkier than it should be. I'm looking at armor at one character, switch to another, and instead of seeing their armor, it goes back to the default inventory screen, sigh.

    9. Some of the stat options are confusing. They hit you with a lot of info early without going into it. And then you realize that enhanced stats (like from a character boost) do not trigger special stat bonuses (i.e. you actually need a hard number in the stat to get the bonus like seeing what's in a container from lockpicking, before you add in bonuses from armor etc.).

    Pros:

    1. Fallout in space. AWESOME concept. Would have loved for this game to be well made.

    2. Sometimes the writing is very funny.

    3. Surprisingly fluid gun play, with occasionally good voice acting.

    4. Cute companion interplay.

    5. Quick load times.

Overall, I believe it's nothing less than a good game. On the other hand, it's also nothing more than just good, and where I have seen, especially in the professional critics space, the game often lauded as Obsidian's return to form, I would argue if you want to experience something close to KOTOR 2, or even the high moments of Neverwinter Nights 2 and Fallout: New Vegas, you will have to reach out for Tyranny or the Pillars of Eternity games instead.

Another thing I have seen pop up several times is "Fallout: NV, but in space" - and you could not be further from truth. Perhaps the only things that tie the two games (aside from the studio itself) are the use of a simplistic and overtuned weapon durability system and a silent MC. TOW is not Obsidian's attempt to do a complete version of FO:NV in space, but rather, an attempt to make their own Mass Effect, more specifically a trilogy / series setup of Mass Effect 1, where you build a team of specialists and run around trying to save the galaxy (with two teammates at a time), or with the humbler TOW - one solar system.

To be fair, it's pretty challenging to be completely original, if not impossible at this point, and the game does a lot to fix the issues of ME1. However, it also brings a couple new issues of its own, a lot of it due to Obsidian's attempt to make the game, especially in terms of the characters "quirky and original", and as a result, turning quite a few of them into some twitteresque morons. At the same time, the game often repeats some pretty stale tropes - and does it multiple times, sometimes within the span of couple minutes. For example, in the opening scene, which probably everyone already saw, as it is a part of the promotional materials for the game, the pre-teen cartoon trope of mad scientists gadgets not working so he has to push a button multiple times for it to miraculously work is used twice, in a span of some 4-5 minutes! I've lambasted Crackdown 3 for this recently, and I will say it again here: If you say or do something retarded, stating "Actually I was only pretending to be retarded!" afterwards doesn't fix or excuse your prior behavior, but makes you look even more retarded. "We were only doing a satire of stereotypes!" - Yeah, but you still flooded your game with characters based off of them, and in addition, you further made it worse by making them more fitting for a Tom & Jerry episode than an M rated game.

That being said, there are some genuinely interesting things about most of the characters, and there are moments where they have really well written and believable dialogue, but this makes things even worse, because it really clashes with their dumbass behavior outside of these moments. Honestly, it reminds me of Guardians of the Galaxy, except the writers weren't really able to balance out and connect the wacky and serious moments, and so the game feels disjointed and goes from bat crap insane to noir thriller to realistic interpersonal relations drama and then back again all in the span of a few moments.

This is probably the largest complaint overall, actually. The game is disjointed, because it tries to be multiple things. It's trying to be ME1, a wacky parody of ME1, and an original Obsidian game, and is neither as a result. In some cases, you make a really big decision, and in one affected place you see a huge change, and in another, which should have a similar large effect applied to it, you get a one-liner mention of the whole thing and then nothing else. Some individual rare weapons are really interesting and original, but the weapon roster in general is just heaps of the same crap with the occassional "+3 fire damage". There's a bunch of factions that supposedly focus on different things, but they all use the same armor and weapons, just different colors, and so on.

The game does fix some issues of ME1 though - specifically, the "worlds" you visit are more condensed, there's much less running around tons of large and near completely barren maps, the pacing, especially in case of side content, is much much better as a result. The simplistic karma system is replaced with a much better one with individual relations with each faction, and your individual decisions themselves play a larger role, the dialogues are much better and most often not constrained to paragon/renegade/neutral/ask-question, and feel more natural, and so on.

The game also has a very distinct graphical style, a retro-futuristic mix between wild west and art deco and a few other elements, all locations and planets are pretty distinct and well crafter from design perspective.

Anyways, in the end, the game is saved by a few great moments and a handful of well thought out and implemented mechanics and design choices that stand well above the rest of the game, and I mean a lot above the rest of the game. Without them, solid 3/10.

Very good rpg with solid gameplay. Know that this is not an open world but a collection of levels you move through with not many reasons to backtrack. Very short compared to other games of this genre I completed full story and all side quests in 27 hours, main story does have replay value though.

The game is NOT AN OPEN WORLD, its just some small maps that go in straight line or curve and you follow the path back and forth as you do errands for quest and that is all.

You can farm experience on monsters but it very quickly becomes boring.
Story line is boring and only wanting to skip it.

Ability system and talent three is ok no more.

A BLANDER copy of Fallout ( or re iteration) anyhow its similar and as boring as F76

Too many dumb mechanics in the game and the poorly optimized visual are trash.
The game graphic settings are extremely limited

FPS play is very annoying, and weapons have little description of them.

Playing in supernova game is pretty easy still and the need to eat, drink or sleep is pretty non existent( might as well not be in)|

    Absolutely NO SENSE OF EXPLORATION

There isn't a LOT of enemy variety but the ones you face are quite well designed, they're different enough and have their own strengths and weaknesses.

That being said, the game lacked any challenging content on any of the builds I have tried on the hard difficulty (full melee, sneak, guns blazing), the enemy A.I. is easy to overcome and the combat stats that you are able to get even early on end up overpowering them quite easily.

Supernova difficulty makes you pay more attention in managing your consumables and taking certain fights more carefully because you can't save but in the end the unique mechanics of the difficulty make the game more annoying rather than challenging.

Your companions have their own quest which is usually pretty good in terms of offering them character development but I wish they got more than just that.

The main story is quite short but it does offer different endings due to its branching narratives, although to be perfectly honest I've only found a handful of decisions to be somewhat hard to make due to their morally grey characteristics. Unless you're roleplaying an overtly evil character without any moral consideration then it's pretty obvious what you would choose to do most of the time. It's worth mentioning that there are a few side quests and areas that contain some endearing or humorous stories, especially if you bother reading messages on terminals as well for more context. I do wish they had more of those and cut back on some of the standard fetch/kill quests.

The dialogue is witty and creative most of the time. and the voice acting is quite good.

The sounds, music and graphics don't stand out in terms of overall quality but the world they've crafted is brimming with color and style. The character models and face animations could benefit from more polish.

There are some unique science weapons that can make the combat a lot more fun so I'd definitely recommend trying to find them.

Overall, it's an enjoyable game especially if you like the setting and premise.

Frankly one of the best games of the 2010's and now one of my favorite games overall. The setting, the characters, the story, the choices, the only negative that I can think of it is that I'm going to be stuck judging other RPG's by the measure set by this game, and those shoes are going to be very hard to fill indeed.

What there is to explore is mostly bland and uninteresting, all the buildings look the same and there are a lot of buildings that are boarded up with a evicted sign that you can't enter. Everything from the NPCs, enemies, world, quests, story, combat and even the items are very limited.
The writing is nothing great and the game feels flat like it doesn't have any depth to it. You don't feel like you care about any of the NPCs. And most females seem to all look the same with short hair. There's not enough diversity.
It just feels boring and rather meh, it's just not fun or exciting.

The companions are sort of interesting.

It's short for an RPG which is probably the only good thing as you wouldn't want to play this for long anyway. This is a mediocre very average game. Nothing amazing or fantastic about it. I am not sure how long I played it for as I often left the game running when I wasn't playing.

The game is sort of alright but I mostly felt bored playing it. I sort of like the game but also don't like it. I feel like I don't care if I never played it and would not be missing out on anything if I didn't excpet not knowing that it's not worth playing.

Ogólne nastroje panujące wśród ludzi przypominają te spotykane w falloucie, oczywiście z lekkim korporacyjnym twistem, to w połączeniu z retrofuturyzmem, daje naprawdę nietypową mieszankę.
    OPRAWA AUDIOWIZUALNA
Powoduje to czasami opuszczenie kilku pobocznych questów a niektóre z nich prezentują naprawdę przyzwoity poziom i poza wprowadzaniem nas w klimat czy nastroje społeczne w danym miejscu, często też dostarczają nam naprawdę ciekawą historię.
    MODEL STRZELANIA

I hate lukewarm uncreative unfunny story driven games. If the gameplay isn't saving the game for me, I won't play it. Outer worlds thankfully has an interesting universe. Capitalism in it's end state. I had to read every worker log I could fine, because the interactions between corporations and it's workers were so damn funny. Everything is over the top in an ironic fun way.

The gameplay is okay, not what makes you love the game, but it's good enough to go on with the quests and story. The balancing is pretty bad. Playing on hard, I was a pure glass canon, which meant that up until the very last boss fight, I was killing everything within seconds. No real challenge. I never ran out of meds or ammunition. I was picking everything from the ground, didn't even have to steal stuff and still didn't need to buy ammunition or meds. That's why this game "only" get's a 9 instead of 10.

Immediately it was clear that nothing at all about this game stands out. I don't think it's a total fail, but it clearly didn't get the basics pinned down well enough to be good.

The game overall seems decent, but a little over hyped. Voice acting is great, graphics I would call current. I felt the mood of the game to be kind of campy but fun. In my playthrough I didn't run into any major bugs and everything felt like it worked like it should.

For the negatives, the game didn't have much depth. If you took out all the fluff with the dialogue it would just be

This tried to be a 30 hour version of fallout 4 with a touch of mass effect, but without any real substance. There wasn't much variety when it came to enemies either.

It's an amazing game, look's like fallout 3 but in a better version, good game, but not perfect.
In this game is missing some mechanics that u can find in all rpg games, eat drink sleep needs to be in all difficulty's, npc are very static and no active, I don't like the fact that u can't play in third person That's very sad.

TOW is a strange animal. It's well-acted, but full of situations where real human beings wouldn't react the way the characters do. While keeping reality at a distance is an acceptable literary form, TOW doesn't know how seriously to take itself. I can't tell if it's a satire of its subject matter or of the type of person who would be entertained by it. It hits you over the head with it's anti-corporate theme until you suffer a concussion, or otherwise start wondering if the employees at Oblivion are trying to tell us something about their working conditions. The target audience of this game is in the early teens, has a pigeon's attention span and is going through a really embarrassing communist phase. Another reviewer likened it to Bioshock: Inifinite, and that's a very apt comparison. It's full of useless power ups, bells and whistles designed to stimulate the reward centre of the brain, campy vending machines at regular intervals, fights that mostly feel the same, and moody and aloof characters who don't suit their dire scenery. The artistry in the game is a visual stomachache that repeats itself ad nauseam because the enemies respawn and the quest markers make you go back and forth across Monarch around thirty times. To give the game credit, it does actually give you some level of choice. I finished it twice, and the second time I sided with the Board all the way to the end. At least a pro-board playthrough is possible, even if there are no grand revelations to be had by doing so. That playthrough was also done on the hardest mode, where your stiff and dull companions can die permanently. The hardest part was keeping them alive to the end. I'm not sure if I'll keep my fondness of Obsidian alive though. I'll think twice before I buy another Obsidian game.

No, really, I've upgraded my PC recently and now I have no texture lags or anything like that, and STILL there're plenty of hardcoded filters and distance loading limitations that make the game look blurry as hell. Even with mods it's still barely bearable.
And why tf are there no beautiful women and no smart men? Well, that's a thing a lot of people have already spoke about, but I must say that the "agenda" didn't really bother me, I didn't even noticed any feminist propaganda or something, and yet NPCs around me looked too disbalanced in that matter. It just didn't feel natural.
Mobs and their "aggro areas" are a joke.
People around you look alive, until you do something serious, and they react just a bit, just like in Bethesda games, which feels like another copypaste of other game's stupidity.
And you cannot remove helmet from your party member. Like, COME ON, WTF.

Overall: Obsidian tried to make something on their own, something theirs. But they have, as we say, farted in a puddle. Gameplay is a copypaste, artstyle is a copypaste, and the scenario is just stupid. The game was not created to introduce you a new gameplay, or to tell you a good story. It's just a game that was made to be made.

The game is quite good, maybe the graphics or the mechanics are not next-gen like but passable. But the story did not suck me in like it did in many other RPGs. I played it for roughly 10h and left it unfinished.

This is a bit too cartoony and NPCs and the world are really kind of lifeless. But it still has a entertaining story, good mechanics and humor.

The graphics of this game are very curious, in that it wasn't until I explored some side missions that I found more diverse and enjoyable backdrops to explore. The main story seemed rather drab and one-dimensional in terms of colour palettes. I found the enemies a bit lacking regardless of what juncture I took, as they ranged from tiny dinosaurs to mechanical terminators that I couldn't distinguish between. A significant issue I had was that I struggled to identify enemies during gunfights and even when exploring. The compass is far too vague and the clash of colours meant that enemies blended into backgrounds quite easily. This could be a problem unique to me, though.

The story of OW is very hit and miss. I like zany and eccentric characters, however OW seemed to be trying too hard to one-up Borderlands for the humour and quirkiness of characters. This leads to an impression of OW being a cheap carbon-copy of AAA games. I also discovered the hard way that ignoring side quests makes the game incredibly short. This may seem like a moot point, but OW's main quests lack anything that interests me. It goes for some sort of dystopian anti-establishment theme but again this is hit and miss.

A key feature of OW's is branching storylines and choices, however I found this was undermined substantially when I discovered that there were basically long and short methods to complete missions. The long method often involved fetch quests so this motivated me to use quicker methods such as killing characters, making some choices moot and unrewarding.

The gameplay of OW had me perplexed right until the end. The menus were messy and I had a lot of information thrown at me very early in the game instead of being introduced gradually. I also found that increasing the difficulty caused me to die very quickly and enemies became bullet sponges. What further confounded this was that I found melee attacks much more effective for about 60% of the game until I got what appeared to be better guns towards the end of the game.

However there were two intertwined elements that really marred OW for me. These are the loading screens and the vacuous sandboxes. The game is supposed to encourage exploration, however I didn't find much enjoyable to explore and environments were filled with endless junk to collect which felt like literal filler. What this led to was me using fast travel a lot, and that's where loading screens came in. I don't understand why loading times are so long for this on my PS4 Pro. It wouldn't have been half as bad an experience otherwise.

Overall, they just tried too hard with this game. By trying to give AAA publishers a middle finger, Outer Worlds lacks its own identity and brings with it the good but also the worst aspects of Ubisoft and Bethesda AAA garbage games. Having said that, AAA publishers have a lot to answer for, as their over-saturated releases are what have burned me out to the point I find genuine efforts such as Outer Worlds aren't as enjoyable for me. It's good to see that OW got the attention it deserves, however I also think it got far too many overly generous reviews. My review may be harsh, but 10/10 and 5-star reviews are ridiculously biased and blind also. Having said that, I would welcome the publisher's next game or sequel with open arms.

The problem with this isn't that it is a bad game (far from it), but the fact that it failed to reach its true potential… or maybe the expectations were simply too high, because there's nothing here that anyone can point to and say that it is terrible. Sadly, there's almost nothing that's great either, apart from the role-playing element and the quality of writing. The gunplay? Ok. The exploration? Decent. The plot? Fine. The dominant feeling here is of a game that is good enough so that you won't hate it, but also not as good for it to be the flawless classic that it could definitely be - but again, that's probably those darn high expectations speaking, because flaws or no flaws, The Outer Worlds shouldn't be missing from any RPG collection.

An excellent effort from Obsidian, and though The Outer Worlds doesn’t surpass its predecessors by offering a world worth visiting over and over, the adventure it presents is more than worth the time spent.

Usually, a planet has just one or two settlements and a bit of wildlands to explore. But that’s for the best – instead of exploring miles of filler content, Outer Worlds keeps you moving from planet to planet, from one tense situation to another. [Issue#241, p.34]
