Pirated this, played it for two hours and deleted it.

The worst dialogue I've seen since Mass Effect Andromeda. No idea how it has so many positive reviews.

I haven't written a review for a game before, but I was so disappointed by this game that I had to write this one.

Everyone else has made good points about the game. The story is boring as hell and it's clearly one sided (corporations bad revolution good), i mean obviously, yeah. But what's the case being made for the bad guys? This game will obviously be compared to fallout new vegas

But what's the case being made for the bad guys? This game will obviously be compared to fallout new vegas because the whole pitch of the game was that it was made by the guys that created fallout, so in coming in I expected I will have to make hard choices and carefully choose who i align myself with, for instance in new vegas you knew that both factions had good and bad qualities and you had to live with what you choose, in this game there's no such a thing.

Characters are bland as hell, terminals are boring, no variety in enemies or weapons, im glad i pirated this game instead of paying money for it.

Easily the worst "rpg" I've ever played, maybe the worst game I've ever played. I feel scammed especially after being refused a refund. Very ugly game. The mission structures and sense of freedom are quality and drew me in for a while, but the world and characters are ugly in every sense, in an obviously intentional anti-aesthetic design choice. This game wasn't designed to be gratifying to normal players; that much is clear.

I imagine the developers of Outer Worlds must feel like they've gotten away with a crime by the positive reception this game has gotten. I can't think of a single thing Outer World's excels at. I have never once questioned the integrity of fellow Obsidian fans until I played this game based on what was being said. The quality of the game is infuriating, almost as if it were crafted just to spite me. The disconnect I feel toward the TOW fanbase is more than I have ever experienced before. Expand

Spent far too long trying to like this game, I was on the bethesda hate train when this was released. Quite possibly one of the most boring plots I have experienced in an RPG, every character is stupid because they need to be for the premise to have any legs. The antagonists are so silly, I have seen Saturday morning cartoons I was more threatened by. Expand

Sad to see so many 'Gamers' artificially boosting the Outer Worlds to hold up Obsidian and 'Stick it' to Bethesda. This game really should be a 6.

At the end of the day, the Outer Worlds couldn't live up to New Vegas on it's best day. It couldn't even live up to Fallout 4.

Poor quality game, filled with bug and dumb mechanic so far.
Very poorly optimized. Over 100games played on my system and none bugged or crashed or reset my computer ( not even once) compared to numerous time playing The Outer World, Making this game the worst game ever to play on my system.
Story is annoying and mostly in the way. The game is NOT AN OPEN WORLD, its just some small maps

The game is NOT AN OPEN WORLD, its just some small maps that go in straight line or curve and you follow the path back and forth as you do errands for quest and that is all.

You can farm experience on monsters but it very quickly becomes boring.
Story line is boring and only wanting to skip it.

Ability system and talent three is ok no more.

A BLANDER copy of Fallout ( or re iteration) anyhow its similar and as boring as F76

Too many dumb mechanics in the game and the poorly optimized visual are trash.
The game graphic settings are extremely limited

FPS play is very annoying, and weapons have little description of them.

Playing in supernova game is pretty easy still and the need to eat, drink or sleep is pretty non existent( might as well not be in)|

    Absolutely NO SENSE OF EXPLORATION

I unfortunately cannot do the right thing and refund it, but I will revise this review regardless. Automatic 0.

Frankly one of the best games of the 2010's and now one of my favorite games overall. The setting, the characters, the story, the choices, the only negative that I can think of it is that I'm going to be stuck judging other RPG's by the measure set by this game, and those shoes are going to be very hard to fill indeed.

Graphically, it's outdated and moving around feels unfinished, the first person view reminds me of quake 2, constant wide angle that seems juvenile programming.
I cannot says for the storymode because 37 minutes in, i just got a refund from steam.
Cyberpunk got me 2 minutes in and has not let me down for the 100 hours spent in there.

So if you want a beautiful game, go elsewhere, even at ultra high graphics, it's still does not cut it for me.

Tried it briefly, had all the signs of a bad game. In the first few minutes I was bombarded with pop up menus. It's felt like the game was going to be pretty cumbersome. Immediately it was clear that nothing at all about this game stands out. I don't think it's a total fail, but it clearly didn't get the basics pinned down well enough to be good.

No, really, I've upgraded my PC recently and now I have no texture lags or anything like that, and STILL there're plenty of hardcoded filters and distance loading limitations that make the game look blurry as hell. Even with mods it's still barely bearable.
And why tf are there no beautiful women and no smart men? Well, that's a thing a lot of people have already spoke about, but I must say that the "agenda" didn't really bother me, I didn't even noticed any feminist propaganda or something, and yet NPCs around me looked too disbalanced in that matter. It just didn't feel natural.
Mobs and their "aggro areas" are a joke.
People around you look alive, until you do something serious, and they react just a bit, just like in Bethesda games, which feels like another copypaste of other game's stupidity.
And you cannot remove helmet from your party member. Like, COME ON, WTF.

Overall: Obsidian tried to make something on their own, something theirs. But they have, as we say, farted in a puddle. Gameplay is a copypaste, artstyle is a copypaste, and the scenario is just stupid. The game was not created to introduce you a new gameplay, or to tell you a good story. It's just a game that was made to be made.

Outer Worlds is a miserable, shallow failure. How does a game like this get a free pass with critics and gamers, then? Well, critics can be bought with ads and they hand out hype for big names for future clout. And gamers are on some weird SJW trip against Bethesda, Microtransactions and/or Epic exclusivities.

I understand both, but don't mistake this game for an RPG or even an "action RPG". It's a short looter shooter with laughable characters and a story that only really exists on paper. You might want to focus on the main story in absence smart, diverse side missions but beware: The game is then over in less than 15 hours. The ending is hasty, and dumber than Quake 2 and Crysis put together.

The problem with this isn't that it is a bad game (far from it), but the fact that it failed to reach its true potential… or maybe the expectations were simply too high, because there's nothing here that anyone can point to and say that it is terrible. Sadly, there's almost nothing that's great either, apart from the role-playing element and the quality of writing. The gunplay? Ok. The exploration? Decent. The plot? Fine. The dominant feeling here is of a game that is good enough so that you won't hate it, but also not as good for it to be the flawless classic that it could definitely be - but again, that's probably those darn high expectations speaking, because flaws or no flaws, The Outer Worlds shouldn't be missing from any RPG collection.

Usually, a planet has just one or two settlements and a bit of wildlands to explore. But that’s for the best – instead of exploring miles of filler content, Outer Worlds keeps you moving from planet to planet, from one tense situation to another. [Issue#241, p.34]
