Jun 13, 2025The Sun has disappeared, waters dried out, and darkness slowly creeped upon the inhabitants of this hand-moulded land of clay. Heads have forsaken bodies, houses started walking and creators felt unfulfilled. Horrors of beyond, terror and somber spread. Bizarrely scary, yet wonderful world, that resonates with lovely tunes and immaculate voices. And now as a last hope, the Burnt One and his Potboy friend have embarked on their Midnight Walk to journey to the Moon Mountain, in hopes of spreading the fire where others before them have failed to do so.
-
Jun 6, 2025The Midnight Walk is a stunning achievement in visual, audio, and narrative design. It may not present much challenge in overcoming its trials and tribulations, but the touching journey of The Burnt One and Potboy through a dark, disturbing hand-sculpted world of clay will surely light a spark that warms your soul.

May 14, 2025The Midnight Walk is a living storybook that blends melancholy, surreal atmosphere, and emotional resonance into something unforgettable.
-
May 10, 2025The Midnight Walk is art in the form of a game. Its intriguing narrative and claymation aesthetics, guided by a presentation that is very reminiscent of miniature theaters, as well as its entire cast, make this fantastical and macabre story something special and unique. Moon Hood has once again created interactive art.
-
May 8, 2025The Midnight Walk is a powerful statement representing the nearly-forgotten artform of claymation. It triumphantly provides a sensory experience that horrifies, chills, and warms your heart with all of its aspects in story, visuals, and sound. Though a bit basic with its gameplay, The Midnight Walk is a masterful work of art with an overflowing amount of love and care poured into the craft where even Henry Selick would be proud.
-
May 18, 2025It's not perfect, but the world it offers, its art design, music, characters and stories will take you to a completely different land for about 7 hours. A dark, scary and real land that will stab you in the heart.
-
Jun 8, 2025Part adventure horror, part digital representation of Tim Burton's dreams, The Midnight Walking must be played to be truly understood. Possibly wearing a VR headset, so that it can express the best of itself, involving and deeply moving, because in a flat version it loses effectiveness.
-
May 16, 2025Nearly flawless storytelling, high-quality art direction, superb music... There are plenty of reasons to love The Midnight Walk, and Moon Hood does an excellent job of showing off its stop-motion expertise. Its few flaws are easily forgiven, as the offering is superb, and while the gameplay is relatively basic on PC and PlayStation, without being a hindrance to the enjoyment of the game, it is truly in its VR version that this title is magnified and truly takes off.
-
May 13, 2025The Midnight Walk is a one-of-a-kind, often atmospheric and melancholic journey through a hauntingly twisted and imaginative world made better in VR.
-
May 8, 2025The Midnight Walk is an atmosphere-first claymation horror game. What the game lacks in gameplay, it makes up for with its distinct world and art style. Immersive visual and sound design makes it easy to get lost in MoonHood’s dark fantasy story. There are weirdos like me that find comfort in horror games, but The Midnight Walk strategically and intentionally walks the line between cozy game and horror game. Come for the vibes, stay for the vibes, as you tread along The Midnight Walk.

May 8, 2025The Midnight Walk offers a memorable adventure that's enchanting and bleak in equal measure, one that feels like wandering into a twisted fairytale. It's a gripping tale with beautifully crafted claymation visuals, held back only by some minor frustrations and not especially in-depth puzzles. MoonHood have delivered a great example of hybrid design between flatscreen games and VR, and it's a strong recommendation from me.
-
May 16, 2025Visually beautiful and boasting first-class sound design, The Midnight Walk does not impress as positively in gameplay.
-
May 9, 2025Unfortunately, the experience of playing The Midnight Walk leaves a little to be desired. It draws you in with its fascinating early chapters, but it can't quite keep up the same level of puzzling intrigue throughout the rest of the game. And unless you're a seasoned VR pro, you're bound to experience a little discomfort while playing. Still, if you're at all curious about the dreamlike world it allows you to inhabit, The Midnight Walk is worth playing on the strength of its story, visuals, and music alone.
-
May 8, 2025The Midnight Walk is visually distinct and creates effective contrast between a Burtonesque 'grotesque' style and small moments of beauty thanks to strong lighting and composition. It's nice that players are given the option to experience the game's unique world up close and personal in VR. But beyond being a very cool immersive tour of someone's artwork, the basic gameplay doesn't feel particularly native to VR and the poetic narrative didn't resonate with me in a meaningful way. This walk might not be for everyone, but inside the headset is the best way to experience it if you love the style.
-
Jun 15, 2025The Midnight Walk is an ambitious adventure with a crazy design of everything, which is maximized by VR headsets. However, the usual option for simple monitors turns the game into a pumpkin

Jun 10, 2025The Midnight Walk is a visually striking adventure with a unique stop-motion aesthetic and excellent sound design, yet it struggles to fully deliver on its narrative ambitions. It brims with creative potential, but ultimately feels like a missed opportunity—whimsical, yet clumsily told and mechanically shallow. Its short length works in its favor, as a longer runtime would likely highlight its repetitiveness and tonal inconsistency. Still, for the right player at the right moment, it may offer a rare and emotionally resonant experience.
