The Lonesome Guild delivers a heartfelt and charming RPG adventure set in the beautifully mysterious world of Etere. With a unique possession-based combat system, a diverse cast of lovable characters, and a strong emotional core focused on friendship and loneliness, this adventure stands out as a cozy alternative to the typical autumn horror lineup. Despite a few mechanical hiccups and repetitive side quests, its thoughtful storytelling and character dynamics make it a memorable experience for RPG fans.

Even with some of the aforementioned rough edges, the overall package is almost outstanding, for a team as small as Tiny Bull. You can tell they've given it their all in The Lonesome Guild, and it almost feels like so much lore, so much history, and effort put into each set, even if you only pass through that area a couple of times, is "wasted", when in other titles it would have been replicated. So the sum of its already remarkable parts make this adventure one of the hidden gems of 2025. For me, a candidate for indie of the year.

As stated in the beginning, The Lonesome Guild is a solid adventure game all around. The RPG elements are deep enough to give the action some teeth, while the action is easy to pick up but is involved enough that the game isn't a button-masher. The adventure is entertaining, while the story gives the game some unexpected heart. The Lonesome Guild will make adventure fans happy.

The Lonesome Guild is a heartfelt title built on the themes of friendship and togetherness, which are baked into the game’s core mechanics as well as its story. The combat mechanics may be a bit repetitive, and not every puzzle is a hit, but overall this wholesome adventure should appeal to many, though its cuteness and meme-y dialogue might polarize a few. For those who love it, though, The Lonesome Guild will leave you in a better place than when you started it.

The Lonesome Guild is one of those games that completely sneaks up on you. It’s a heartfelt journey wrapped in charming art and great writing. Even when combat drags and abilities feel underdeveloped, its sincere core shines through, doing well to make up for its shortcomings. It’s just so easy to fall in love with its characters, their backstories and the way their personalities come alive in conversations. Watching them rely on each other and tackle their feelings together felt genuinely meaningful. It’s a touching reflection on the strength found in friendship, even when things feel bleak. At the end of the day, maybe it was exactly the kind of cosy game I needed.

The Lonesome Guild may be a bit simple in its combat and puzzles, but its world and meta-narrative are incredibly touching and deeply captivating.
