    Whats goin on with serie; the worst of all the games; the stories is convoluted with characters all powered comin from nowhere to permit the plot to advance in a cahotic manner;
    the pacing is horrible, combat with hard boss since begin which can dure 10 to 15 mn followed by easy fight; the 3 roads path is horrible, when you engage in a story with charas, when you re in, sorry go back to    Whats goin on with serie; the worst of all the games; the stories is convoluted with characters all powered comin from nowhere to permit the plot to advance in a cahotic manner;

    The game is poorly optimized even though NISA took 3 years for localization. There is a Link Attack bug that effects all new characters, if you fish the game can crash, there are typos and wrong descriptions.

    A great conclusion to the Crossbell and Cold Steel games. It was great to see familiar characters return, but I also liked some newcomers, like Nadia and Lapis. The story gets a little crazy, but it works. This is a spoiler-free review, so I won't go into story details.

    Gameplay: While combat hasn't changed, the gameplay loop is different from the Cold Steel games, which helps keep the formula sort of fresh. There are three paths you alternate between, which helps with the story pacing. There's also the True Reverie Corridor, an alternate dimension area which has extra dungeons, customized party setups, and minigames. There are also side stories similar to those in Trails in the Sky 3rd, which are usually not plot-relevant, but still quite nice and they expand on the lore.

    Voice acting: The English voice work is overall very solid. I especially like Suzie Yeung as Nadia. Heather Gonzales has improved a lot as Laura since she took over the role in Cold Steel IV. One technical complaint about the voice recording quality is that some characters have overly sharp S sounds.

    Imperfections: The game does sometimes get sloppy in its localization, with incorrect item descriptions, mispronounced words (e.g. "ebon"), incorrect voice lines (e.g. Laura's arts casting is in Japanese in the English version), and quite a few spelling and grammatical errors.

    Technical issue: At the time of writing, I occasionally experience game freezes in transitions, where the screen fades to black and just stays black.

    An amazing Treat for fans of the Series.

    After ten games, so far, completely Localized and ported in an official manner, I of course have my favorite games and moments, but I have to say that Trails Into Reverie here is much more than I was expecting and, believe me, I had high expectations, but this game surpasses all of them, big time. I knew this was going to be the actual end of    An amazing Treat for fans of the Series.

    After ten games, so far, completely Localized and ported in an official manner, I of course have my favorite games and moments, but I have to say that Trails Into Reverie here is much more than I was expecting and, believe me, I had high expectations, but this game surpasses all of them, big time.

    I knew this was going to be the actual end of both Crossbell and Erebonia’s sagas, but Nihon Falcom went above and beyond all possible expectations, honestly, if there’s such a thing as being too satisfied…that’d be me right now, after playing this game, including all the post-game content of course.

    Let’s take a small detour from the review itself to talk about Performance and, at this point, this is the part that surprised me the least, because the game has Stellar Performance, as it is tradition with the ports produced by PH3.
    On my Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 3060 Ti this game performs quite similarly as Cold Steel III and IV, so I basically played the whole game at Max Settings, 1620p DLDSR downsampled resolution to 1080p native, with fullscreen MSAA 4x too, and very much stable and locked 60 FPS, at all times, not a single drop in like 100 hours of playtime.
    It is possible to play at 1440p and locked 120 FPS, reducing the amount of MSAA to 2x, but I prefer the maximum image quality possible and 60 FPS, for a game like this.

    This game I also feel it looks slightly better than both Cold Steel III and IV, it’s not a huge difference but, considering it is the last entry using the old engine…it serves as a good send off for it and I think it looks pretty decent all things considered, especially with the extra PC specific settings that we’re used to get in these excellent ports by Durante and his team.
    Having the Graphics Settings available within the game itself, instead of a Launcher, is a great QoL addition too.

    Continuing with the regular aspect of the review, well I won’t get into spoilers but it’s obvious that they went all out with the Fan Service, but the good type, the one that’s done correctly, aimed at fans of the series as a whole, making it so worth it if you played the previous arcs.
    This was strongly solidified for me when I started doing the Daydream episodes and, let me be honest here, Trails in the Sky the 3rd is a favorite of mine, not just for what it represents, an obvious connection point between Liberl and both the Crossbell and Erebonian arcs, but also because of the Door System it had.

    With Reverie here, the Daydreams felt pretty much like those Doors, they are all really great, I enjoyed them so much, and of course they even added a couple of special ones teasing the “future” in the series, or more almost like the present at this point, hopefully soon for all of us waiting for the official Kuro No Kiseki English Localization and Voice Over announcement (I sincerely cannot wait to meet and learn about the new cast and their actors).

    Speaking of the Actors: simply bravo, all of them, incredible performances all around, going from the main protagonists in their respective series to all the supporting characters, they are all great and this is something NIS America seems to improve with every new entry, and I hope they continue to do so with the Kuro games.
    It is not so much about sounding exactly like the Japanese actors per se, but how they convey the personality of their respective character, and I believe they all did an excellent job.
    The Japanese actors sound amazing too, so being able to compare how both sound, really makes me appreciate how most of them are so very cleverly chosen, in the English voice over.

    Lastly, as it couldn’t be any other way, the Soundtrack in this game is also fantastic, especially the new tracks, some of the new combat theme songs are quite catchy and I can’t get them out of my head honestly, they’ll be there for a while I feel.
    Having one last chance to listen to a certain track for the final post-game boss was also quite hype, couldn’t have been any other track, it was the correct one : )

    All of the new added small Quality of Life changes too, compared to Cold Steel IV, felt quite welcome as well, and I really love the Reverie Corridor system, since to me the Trails series is, currently, one of the best Turn Based JRPG series out there, so having a chance to battle enemies to my heart’s content feels great, while also being rewarding at the same time.

    I’m really looking forward to the future of the series, now that we’ve crossed that half point.    … Expand

Strong story-telling and characterization, further aided by having three protagonists and the new Crossroads system. A hefty amount of side content, from mini-games to Daydreams, and the True Reverie Corridor offers a nice change of pace. Good music and voice acting    Good-

    The gameplay formula is well worn by this point, even with the new additions. Most of the environments may feel overly familiar to fans by now. Some conversations can become long-winded, while certain characters are still problematic. Playable by newcomers but heavily relies on knowledge of the Cold Steel series before jumping in.

    Thoughts-
    Compared to the current state of role-playing games, it’s easy to view Trails into Reverie as playing it safe or feeling slightly behind the times, which is understandable. It’s a 2020 title that landed in Japan first for the PS4. However, it’s hard to deny the strong combat system and its extensive customization and tactics, the genuinely compelling characters and their stories, or even the sheer scope and magnitude of capping off everything from Cold Steel 4 in a satisfying manner. Despite its imperfections and annoyances, Trails into Reverie is an essential experience for fans, if not another strong reason for newcomers to finally delve into the series. Here’s hoping that Kuro no Kiseki freshens things up and takes the overarching story forward in new directions.    … Expand

    As an epilogue to cap off a series spanning a whopping NINE games, Trails into Reverie delivers in all the areas that makes this one of the best RPG series on the market, featuring impeccable world building, compelling, nuanced characters and an enjoyable combat engine with plenty of room for experimentation. In a way, this entry feels like a reward for all those who have stuck with the series thus far and as we look towards Calvard and the future of the series as a whole, we can rest easy knowing that we’ve sent the heroes off in style, without any regrets.

    The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie comes with one of the biggest prerequisites in modern media. You’ll need to have played at least four, and ideally six, 40+ hour role-playing games to fully appreciate the intricacies of this title. That’s a substantial expectation, but if you have committed to the property, Reverie’s assemblage of personalities provides an impeccable farewell (and playful introduction) that will undoubtedly tug at your heartstrings.

    As someone who is a bit of a lapsed fan of the Trails series and greatly enjoyed the recently localized Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure, I was partially hoping to have Reverie be the game to reignite that spark I used to have for this series. Instead, after completing Trails into Reverie, I find myself mostly grateful to move onto brighter pastures after Reverie ended up spending most of its run-time spinning its wheels, while its few contributions to the overall series largely fell flat.
