Dec 1, 2025As a short, narrative adventure, The Last Case of John Morley is enjoyable thanks to a great sense of atmosphere, good story and well paced reveals that keep us second guessing right until the very end.

Mar 17, 2026Investigating a 20-year-old murder wasn’t something I expected to do when playing this game, but I am impressed with the game’s intriguing premise and how it all unfolds. The fact that you get to be a detective during the 40s is a highlight too, along with some of the puzzles you encounter. It’s not meant to be a very long game, however I wish it was longer, because there are many points where the gameplay feels very satisfying and intriguing. Then again, The Last Case of John Morley is not without its faults. Its mechanics are very simple, which leads to a lack of diversity when it comes to puzzles and challenges you encounter. The use of AI assets is also a downside that me and some of the playerbase won’t appreciate, either. I also wish the game had more leeway when it comes to how you solve the case, instead of feeling so linear. So yes, it’s not perfect by any means, but it’s a satisfying detective game that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Feb 25, 2026The Last Case of John Morley transitions from a film-noir mystery into a psychological horror that reveals just how fragile the human psyche is, prioritizing atmosphere over detective work in its short run time.
-
Jan 12, 2026The Last Case of John Morley is a very short, but interesting noir detective story with outdated visuals and technical aspects. However, the developers chose not to create a hollow pretense of philosophical drama or a profound statement. What awaits you is a convoluted yet fairly simple detective story with a realistic ending.

Dec 5, 2025The Last Case of John Morley offers an engaging narrative and enjoyable puzzles. While technical graphics suffer from various bugs that could disrupt gameplay, crime fiction fans seeking a mystery should try this title.
-
Nov 30, 2025The Last Case of John Morley is a small, atmospheric noir that relies heavily on environmental storytelling and strict linearity. It’s short, cohesive, and supported by surprisingly strong voice acting, but lacks suspense, emotional depth, and memorable twists. A solid pick for fans of slow-paced narrative walking sims, though less appealing to players seeking tension or mechanical variety.

Dec 16, 2025Despite some positive points in its narrative and visual presentation, The Last Case of John Morley presents too many issues to be easily recommended. The gameplay is weak and uninspired, and this is further compounded by serious flaws in the Portuguese localization, such as gender agreement errors—especially when female characters are speaking—which significantly break immersion. This is a game that clearly deserved more care and polish to truly stand out and overcome its limitations. Still, due to its short runtime, many of these problems do not become as evident as they otherwise might, making the experience somewhat more tolerable for players looking for a quick, story-driven journey.

Dec 1, 2025The Last Case of John Morley is dripping with atmosphere and the story has a lot of potential, but it's dragged down by uninspired gameplay and an underdeveloped protagonist.
-
Dec 1, 2025An atmospheric detective mystery, The Last Case of John Morley is a compact tale with surprisingly high production values for a game of this size. Unfortunately, it undermines itself by telegraphing its twisting narrative and lacks those 'eureka' moments you'd find in other, similar titles. Still, if you're in the mood for a one-and-done 'whodunnit' that you can start and finish in a single sitting, this is still worth your attention.

Dec 1, 2025Warts and all, The Last Case of John Morley is an immersive game that gets under your skin, not least of all because you’re constantly looking over your shoulder. This feels like the beginning of a new franchise, one that could challenge the established status quo of Sherlock Holmes’ dominance in the mystery/puzzle genre. Whether that actually happens is beyond our control. But even if this is genuinely to be the last time we join John Morley on a case, at least it’s a compelling and fitting conclusion for the gifted detective.
