    The Invisible Hours is unlike anything else you’ll play or watch in VR this year; a genuinely enthralling murder mystery boldly told in an entirely new way. Its character-driven drama is near faultless not just in the dialogue and plotting but also in the superb staging and pacing that brings the world to life. It’s an experiment that pays off in spades and could well provide a template for VR storytelling to come.

    Though invisible, I came to feel the layout of the space in an acute way because I knew I was probably missing something going on elsewhere in the house. Yes, friends, FOMO has been pressed into the service of game design.

    Tequila Works delivers again with The Invisible Hours, giving players an intriguing voyeur role in a genuinely interesting mystery populated by an unforgettable cast. Doing it all in VR is just the icing on the cake.

    What a brilliant idea. These guys have created a completely new category of entertainment. A bit on the short side. It took me about 7 hoursWhat a brilliant idea. These guys have created a completely new category of entertainment. A bit on the short side. It took me about 7 hours but boy do I want more of this. A stormy night, a fully realised mansion with several interesting characters wandering around this beautifully crafted and cleverly choreographed diorama.

    You play an invisible observer freely wandering around the place. Watch and listen carefully as intricate plots unfold. Truly an amazing out of body experience. Follow the characters into and out of rooms as they go about their business. Watch out for clues and listen carefully to their conversations. Now stop, rewind time and switch your attention to another part of the house where another plot is hatching between a different group of characters. Fantastic stuff.

    Ok, so their use of the Unreal Engine might seem a bit janky at times but the animations and characterisations are subtle and really well done. TBH the GFX kinda needed to be like this to deliver a smooth VR experience... remember it’s still early days for VR. Teleporting is used to get around and although normally I’m not a fan it works really well for this type of experience. Within a minute or so you’re so wrapped up in the plot you forget all that nonsense and disappear off into the world. The atmosphere is eclectic and although a completely different and unique experience I was mindful of what a rush it felt discovering the original ‘Alone in the Dark’ and Jordan Mechner’s ‘The Last Express’

    This for me brilliantly shows off VR. Finally a VR genre that anyone can ‘play’. Stick the headset on them and walk away grinning. A totally unique whodunnit experience. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.    … Full Review »

But think of it as "multidimensional storytelling", and it is a fantastic piece of work! Ok, narrative is surreally intense (there are tons of plot twists and developments happening every minute), but I found it very entertaining! The closest experience that comes to my mind is "The Last Express", minus puzzles, but with a more "continuous" environment and easy time flow management, and the story is about as rich!… Full Review »
