Nov 20, 2023It creates a captivating atmosphere, but at the same time spoiled by trying to last longer, with unnecessary walks and moments that dilute the main plot without contributing too much to it.

Nov 10, 2023And the whole game is endlessly beautiful. Brilliant design choices have led to a game conceived with a 1950/60s retrofuturistic aesthetic, complete with rayguns, clunky robots and Mid-Century Modern furniture. Set against boldly colorful vistas, there isn’t a single moment where this game doesn’t look like the tattered paperback cover of a classic sci-fi novel...If only it were slightly smoother, slightly shorter, and less buggy.

Nov 2, 2023Oddly, The Invincible is at its best when you are like its simple automatons, following instructions to complete a clear objective. However, as soon as your instructions become unclear, you can find yourself walking in loops or frozen part-way through an action, unsure of what to do. The game is a great example of how engaging first-person narratives can be, but also how any missteps or unearned moments can eject you from the head of the narrator, leaving you cold and confused.

Nov 2, 2023The Invincible lets you take some detours and make some choices, but it also pushes you forward in a way that feels both natural and necessary. It took me around six hours to see it all — which is good because I’m not sure how much longer I could survive.
