Over The Moon’s incisive look into the nature of conscience and self-awareness reaches new heights in Unbound. A.R.I.D’s dark, dystopian Odyssey continues and the way the second chapter weaves altering perspectives in the solutions of its puzzles, is nothing short of masterful.

Part 2 isn't as great as Part 1, but it's still a great science fiction story.

It's rare to see a science-fiction story as insightful and thought-provoking as this in any medium, let along games. [Apr 2018, p.83]

Setting and story make you think, without sermonizing. The gameplay needs improvements, though.

What The Fall Part 2: Unbound lacks in difficulty, it makes up for in intrigue. The transformation of narrative from horror to sci-fi makes you look at the series in a new light, and even though the questions about humanity and robotics have been brought up before, the game's take on them remains interesting enough that you'll want to see what's in store for the third game. The gameplay length is decent, and there are satisfactory combat and puzzle elements. If you've already checked out the first game, you should take a look at Unbound as well.

On a surface level, Part 2: Unbound continues where The Fall‘s last installment left off, but several changes have been made to both story and gameplay formulas, for better and for worse, including an overreliance on combat that may not appeal as strongly to hardcore adventure gamers.

The sequel does exemplify some of the gameplay flaws of its predecessor but tells a fantastic sci-fi tale and builds a world that I never imagined it would.

Part 1 didn’t show off the best mechanics but made up for that with atmosphere and a great story. Here even that is in jeopardy. It feels too fragmented to become one entertaining experience.

The continuation of an excellent game, which makes the first part proud because of its good story, but lacks a satisfactory puzzle design and, above all, it has a terrible fight design. If you want to enjoy the dark path of the artificial intelligence Arid, choose a mode without action passages. That would have earned one or two more points.

It is hard to come to The Fall Part 2: Unbound after experiencing the (very) rough diamond that is its predecessor, as everything feels inferior. Most puzzles are annoying, the controls are even clunkier than before, and the plot feels less... hard sci-fi than it previously did, as well as less focused on what it wants to offer.
