    Surprisingly underrated horror gem from early PS4 era. Very well designed levels, bosses and overall atmosphere. It's not perfect, but nothing is. Shame that Part 2 completely ignored everything that was great in the first game and went very basic semi-open world route.     Great game that surprised me a lot. I came from playing RE8 and I didn't get disappointed. I loved the different situations that had the game mixing horror, boss fight, exploration... It was near to RE8 ( my fav survival horror) The cons are that it feels not very smooth and also the story is blurred. A great game that deserves an 8.

    Deserves much higher Metacritic score. I haven't played horror games this good since 2014, except for Resident Evil 7,8 and 2 Remake. By the way, the only similar thing about the second game is that they put "2" next to the name of the game. Fortunately, you can finish this game and not play the second game.

    This is what true modern-horror game is supposed to be. Yes, of course it's inspired by silent hill and dead space, but it stands on it's own very well and also takes notes from RE4, as this game was directed by same dude who made RE4. Pretty much modern horror masterpiece. Ignore second game, it's awful.

    Not sure what happened with second game, because it was just trash. But first one is modern horror masterpiece, better than any silent hill after second one and i personally like this one way more than re7.

    WAY better than the horrible lazy soulless second game. The gameplay is really tense, challenging and addicting. The story is way deeper than TEW2.

    One of the best modern horror games, seems kind of underrated or maybe The Evil Within fans just are mature enough to not care about some scores on some random online sites. Overall, this game has fantastic boss fights and cool level designs. Directed by same dude who made Resident Evil 1 (and it's remake) and Resident Evil 4. It's not as good as RE4, but it's still amazing!

    why the PC version is this underrated? It's not buggy anymore and we can play it very smoothly. and of course the story, characters and all other things are better than the second one.

It has one of the best selection of boss monsters and regular enemies i have seen in any game ever, maybe only beaten by Resident Evil 4.     The art style and direction of this game are awesome. The game is like experiencing a psychosis, really crazy, bloody, mysterious and highly creative. It's a real thriller.     I agree 100% with previous reviewer that this user score is way too low for this amazing game. These negative reviews make zero sense. Thankfully it's highly regarded on other places like Steam. Either way it's one of my favorite horror games of all time and absolutely worth trying if you like Resident Evil or Dead Space series.

    Seems like they botched the initial version of the PC port and got a hailstorm of negative reviews for it, that are still pulling the rating down alot. However those issues are resolved by now. I recommend paying more attention to newer reviews or the ratings on the other systems.

    As for my rating, I did like the weird plot and style, aswell as the characters quite a bit.     This metascore must be a joke. Even with some problems at launch, it was still this same absolutely amazing unique horror game that it is today. I bet most people who rated it, actually don't like horror games.

    I finished RE7 not long ago and thought no other horror game could top it, but boy, was I wrong. The Evil Within taps into many emotions. Fear, paranoia, desolation, hopelessness, and more. Although this game is in 3rd person, everything about the atmosphere and environment totally made up for it. The visual effects used to add to the paranoia was nothing I    A palm sweating experience.

    I finished RE7 not long ago and thought no other horror game could top it, but boy, was I wrong. The Evil Within taps into many emotions. Fear, paranoia, desolation, hopelessness, and more. Although this game is in 3rd person, everything about the atmosphere and environment totally made up for it. The visual effects used to add to the paranoia was nothing I have ever experienced in a game. It made you feel like there was no hope of escape from this nightmare. The lighting and structures were made perfectly which added to the fear.

    The save points were done in such a unique way. The nurse inside the mental hospital, Sebastion's journal, the Krimson newspaper, all added so much mystery to the plot. It made me want to continue, just to see what this whole situation is about. This leads into the amazing story telling. The game only gives you bits and pieces of the story. Over the course of the game, you slowly uncover what is really going on. The way it unravelled through flashbacks, and visions was awesome. The characters and dialogues were all amazing. You could see them struggle, as they slowly lose their mind.

    I would have easily given this game a 10, but there were some hiccups when it came to the stealth portion of the game. Sometimes enemies who definitely shouldn't have notice me, would notice me, and walk over. Some of the traps felt unfair, as it was too hidden. Some QTE sequences were too unclear. All of these made some of the deaths feel unfair. But added up, these didn't deter too much from the experience as a whole. The horror experience totally makes up for it.    … Expand

    I liked this game a lot, the story is very compiling and as a player I'm most of the time on the edge of my seat. there were some cases of very hard bosses, which feels frustrating as a player who just want to finish the game.
    the munitions/ enemies ratio was very good. you area always with a little munitions.

    Another problem I had with this game is that the main story leave you with a lot of holes in the plot, and the 2 first DLSs feel in the gap, why is it half to be in the DLS and not in the main game itself? I didn't like that one bit.

It's almost hard to describe how much i like this game. I have finished it over 10 times and i will do it more in the future. It's way better to look at steam reviews of this game, these are way more up to date. It's almost hard to describe how much i like this game. I have finished it over 10 times and i will do it more in the future. It has best psychological-horror atmosphere out of (almost) any Horror games EVER made. It's difficult competition between this one and dead space (2008) for best horror atmosphere title. I think both have equally good atmosphere, just a bit different.… Expand

    Another horror masterpiece that was literally ahead of it's time. Now in 2020 it has pretty high ratings on steam and seems like people have finally discovered it. I have personally liked it from day 1. It has one of the better boss rosters of any horror game, super unique level design and tons of character upgrade options.

    This game is extremely underrated. Might be one the best horror games ever made alongside silent hill 2 and dead space. I literally can't believe something like resident evil 3 remake has higher metascore than this.

    Интересный и чертовски сложный сурвайвл хоррор, созданный руками японских творцов, что обуславливает наличие всякой шизы в огромном количестве. Сюжет интересный с харизматичным главным героем Себастьяном, который задает тон всей игре, но с финалом, конечно, облажались сильно, ну и из минусов еще наличие этих тупых полосок и сильный блюрИнтересный и чертовски сложный сурвайвл хоррор, созданный руками японских творцов, что обуславливает наличие всякой шизы в огромном количестве.
