The Evil Within has achieved something that not many games have lately: It scared me. Thanks for Mikami-san!
  2. The Evil Within seems like two different games. During the first 30 minutes, you will fall into the horror part of the game, but then Evil Within will transform into a stealth action (hunt zombies with Sam Fisher) game.

As the Japanese survival horror genre goes, The Evil Within feels a bit old fashion but in a good way. It certainly has the potential of becoming a cult classic. [Nov 2014]

A hardcore, unforgiving, old school survival horror blockbuster, heir to the same triumphs and pitfalls as all of its ilk. The story ultimately fails to make a lasting impression, but the frantic, two bullets and a prayer sense of always being half a step away from horrible death and dismemberment, greatly succeeds in making this a hugely satisfying romp through the darker side of the human psyche.

If you like the idea of Resident Evil 4 crossed half-and-half with Silent Hill then The Evil Within is the game for you. Just be prepared to put up with 30 FPS.

It is recommended without hesitation to everyone that is brave enough and eager for long hours of thrills.

A polished but predictable return from a master of survival horror like Mikami, The Evil Within succeeds in its cinematographic atmosphere and skilled craft, but lacks the sheer power of the true masterpieces of the genre.

Due to some poorly executed design decisions and an impossible camera, The Evil Within fails to recreate the magic of Mikami's earlier works. Still, it is a great survival-splatter game with intense moments and lots of unique ideas.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME ON PC!

It's a great game and a true successor to RE4. But this game should not have made to the pc platform in its current state.

The controls are clunky and unresponsive, you can't bind keys properly and the default keybinding doesn't make any **** sense.

If you have a next gen console like the PS4 or the XBONE. Buy this game on one of these and enjoy.

On PC however, stay AWAY from this garbabe port.

My rating is based on the pc version alone, not the game overall.

Certainly one of the worst games I've played in a long time. The cut scenes are 10 years behind, the controls can not be remapped properly, forcing you to use a control. But that is the least of the problems in this turgid mess. The camera is set so you can not see ANYTHING, at almost all times, making combat utterly pointless. It is not, in the slightest scary. It's just frustratingly tedious. A poor stealth game with terrible graphics, a camera angle so bad it will stop you from playing the game entirely, and a convoluted , rehashed and frankly embarrassing waste of time and money. Do your selves a favor, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This is not the Resident Evil 4 you were looking for... Full Review »
