Currently, as of 8/19/19, they did their Monday update patch and people are crashing every few minutes. They insist we play like this even on 8/22/19. They said a fix is coming Monday 8/26/19, but it is too late. They have lost so many good players due to the issues in-game. My opinion is they have a 10 yr plan to push out as many DLCs and store items to make money on a broken system. They do not focus to fix the current issues in-game since 2014. Do not waste your money or your time on this game it is a lost cause anymore. Expand

    - Game and addons are full releases? I don't agree with that - missing the "beta" note somewhere on the screen. When i bought the game i was sure i buy a full released base game.
    - no refounds when you bought the game
    - ESO forces you to buy addons to play with your friends ALSO as a new player you CANT collect all the materials cause you are not able to upgrade your bags/storage (double storage for eso plus additional to unlimited materials bag)

Elderscrolls online just leaves me feeling like the makers really just wanted to make a new RvR game in the same mould as DAoC or WAR. Its so standard MMO, so been there done that, so uninspired it just hurts. Where there is an attempt to incorporate some of the elements of the single player games it feels clunky or doesn't quite work because the fundamental starting point was your bog standard MMO the like of which we've seen time and again for the last 10 years. Take questing. full voice, lots of effort put into back story you say? Well yes, but because the questing and character advancement model is essentially the same as most MMOs (That being you advance by completing quests which give you xp to spend on level ups), the world is necessarily packed with quest givers, most of whom give 5 min quests which we've all done a million of before, kill 5 bears, pick 10 flowers, blah blah blah. The end result is all the fancy voice acting and back story just wastes your time because the fundamental activity is so mindless. I could go on and on about the disappointments in ESO, but it all boils down to one thing. Its nothing new, its not in the spirit of the single player games, its just another near enough carbon copy of a gameplay model that doesn't fit with the IP that's been forced into it. Come on Devs, can't you be a bit braver than this. If Bethesda had just copied the successful model of the time then Arena would of been a scripted on rails experience like Final Fantasy. The MMORPG world is crying out for something new, something different. Enough with the era of the WoW-a-like. Expand

I wanted to point out something no one else seems to have yet; the amount of negative reviews for this game and their ratio in comparison to other Elder Scrolls games on Metacritic. Morrowind: 139 positive (p) : 9 negative (n) = 6.5% of the reviews were negative. Oblivion: 351p : 70n = 19.9% negative reviews. Skyrim: 1,391p : 230n = 16.5% negative reviews. ESO: 717p : 433n = 60.4% negative reviews.

Some players have made the statement that the series has gained in popularity and therefore it's only natural to gain more negative reviews, but we see from the data that even though Skyrim's total user reviews increased by 385% it's negative ratio decreased nearly 3% in total! That is an amazing feat especially for a game franchise. Typically later installations receive more exposure, but more bad press as well. But what about the press?

From the 116 total professional review scores, over all three previous titles, there were ONLY 2 mixed (yellow) reviews. No negative reviews are recorded on Metacritic. Both mixed reviews were for Morrowind. So the last two titles could be considered an improvement over each other as nearly all new installments of a continuing series degrades or receives lower scores from the press who are looking for more with each new release. Now we turn to ESO where the press has nearly as many mixed reviews as they do positive.

What conclusions can we make given the data at hand? ESO is not a very good game in the cannon of the Elder Scroll series.

The game is first and foremost a boring cash-cow with nothing as advertised and only the per-month greedy monetizing of an essentially f2p game - the mechanics are usual cheap mmo ones, there's no freedom nor exploration other than that found in games like wow, the "massive battles" and "great sieges" are just bland walk-through-a-corridor scenes where the usual inert couple of "fighters" scattered on the road, here and there, having only the function of holding a sword and greeting you for a good day.

The game is far worse than TOR even. A prime example of why no franchise can be trusted to go the MMO road. Even if the devs have good intentions, investors make the game a shell of an experience. Nothing to see here, move along.

I have at times managed to get it working in the past. it's just another MMO with rush-grind levels. You hit something with one ability slot until it dies as an overpowered deity at the very start of the game. You might as well play World of Warcraft or any single player RPG. The miniaturized world scenes from the Elder Scrolls games are nothing to write home about; the set design seems phoned in and designed by committee; very lifeless. The classes seem to be random and have nothing to do with the classic Elder Scrolls experience. It doesn't feel like an Elder Scrolls game.

As you progress more and more the game gets more and more unfinished. I've been goggling for information from other players on how to find a way past problems, but there isn't much information on this topic available or none at all. The only option is to rely on the game's support team.

When you contact the support team(I have good reasons to think there is only a guy hired) you get a few fast copy-paste answers from their poor FAQ section of the site that sometimes is not even on the topic, he also provides you with the link for the FAQ section. They don't even bother to analyze if the answer they provide will be able to help you at all or point in the right direction. When you are completely blocked by game bugs you expect some fast help or a workaround to unlock your progression. I've replied to the poor answer from the support team, and asked for a real solution to get past my problem. The reply was even worse than the first on, complaining that their job is hard and they are doing humanly efforts. The guy still didn't analyzed my problem and try to find a solution on how I could skip to the next map, he just brought in some more excuses. Also you would expect to talk to the support team in-game, but this guy got all my contact information name, email etc. without my consent in order to be able to contact me.

Regarding maintenance time you will be shocked. They start unplanned maintenance quite often and the scheduled maintenance is sometimes planned the prime time of the evening. I remember one time after wasting all evening waiting for the maintenance to finish, they installed a bad patch and the server crashed, resulting in another 2 hours of wait, followed by server flooding when everyone tried to log in resulting in massive server lag.

The PVP is a little disappointing, first of all they have a "mega sever" technology, but that doesn't mean your player wont have to join one of the many PVP servers (they call them "Campaigns"). They were smart here by putting some nice names to fool the players into thinking they invented something. In order to play PVP, you have to choose a PVP player that you will not be able to change for 3 months, unless you pay for it). The PVP servers are unbalanced, and when a server get full(they get full!) you have to wait in line to enter. When you enter a full server you'll first notice the mass PVP is a crap because the "mega server"™ can't take the load and lags horribly. The only thing you'll be playing is spamming skills/spells and wait a few seconds to see if the target is dead, or he got healed etc.

The dungeon/group finding is very poor, at least at middle and end levels, you get only in some group setups that always fail, some even disband before the dungeon is started as people know that the setup will fail gloriously vs the difficulty of the dungeon. Also the wait time is huge.
The economy of the game is poor due to bugs/exploits.

    Compared with rival games:
    - the number of content blocking bugs is huge, with no chance of getting around some(no one will help you);
    - the customer support is embarrassing(on other games I was really happy with the outcome of the discussion with the support team) ;
    - the cost of purchase and monthly payment is higher;
    - their so praised server is a joke;
    - the PVP is not like you would have expected it because of technical issues(multiple servers just like any other MMO, full servers are extremely lagging, servers that re not full are boring)
    - a lot of time wasted during maintenance that occurs mostly when you have free time to play
    - dungeon grouping is very poor, I doubt you will enjoy doing group dungeons in this game
    - economy is broken

Conclusion: If you are big fan of TES and want to try it, you have been warned this is not really TES, this is a horrible copy-cat version of TES with lots of problems developed and maintained by an inexperienced team of blunt people. I won't recommend it to anyone, TES fans or not.

It honestly feels like someone took the real Tamriel from the real Elder Scrolls games and made a Theme Park of it and then posted actors there as the npc:s and enemies.

It is impossible to take anything happening in this game seriously and while immersion have always been one of the main components in real TES games, immersion is the one thing that is lacking the most in this game. The whole game is just an unimaginable bland clone of every other WoW style MMO out there with a TES skin on it. There is no love or passion that have gone into this project, it was solely made just to cash in and milk the IP Bethesda have created with TES.

This game feels like it is cheapening and a big disgrace to the whole franchise and world that Bethesda have built over the years. It is if taking it all and then throwing it in the toilet and putting a steaming dump on it all. It does not help that everything it does is made to make money and you always feel dirty playing it from all the disgusting greedy practices that Zenimax is using to squeeze you of your dollars, as is is blatantly obvious that is the main focus when they made this. Nothing in this game gives the impression that it was made with passion or love and with the focus or intent of making something groundbreaking or fantastic. It was purely made with corporate greed in mind.

The things that could have been kept in the game like unrestricted freedom and opportunity to go where you want and attempt to do what you want in a vast open world would have made this quite the experience. Unfortunately the devs instead made it a very restricted cookie cutter MMO experience and ruined their opportunity for something amazing. The Story line and lore is great to read if your into that sort of thing, But the gameplay is boring and mechanics feel clunky and appears like drunken apes running around. The time and effort put in to the gear you find is pathetic and when everyone looks like they are wearing the same armor and weapons is just not interesting to say the least. Dungeons scale to appeal to end-game PvE players, balance changes that regularly wreck concept builds to appeal to PvP players, and world bosses that used to be soloable that now require a large group. If you're a very competitive sort, you'll love it. It's just too toxic of an environment for casuals. It's moving ever more and more toward appealing to the people who play WoW and League of Legends.

Crafting used to be a level above all drops, so it was easy to craft great armour. Crafting stats have been nerfed, and crafted gear is the same level as what drops now (and inferior in every way). This is something they promised they wouldn't do, but hey, it's just too easy to get good gear and the high-end PvE players don't like that. They added duelling, which meant that roleplayers are now getting trolled all the time by people checking roleplaying site schedules and having duels there. Unlike Champions Online, it doesn't even have no-duel zones. You can duel anywhere.

The only thing that ESO still has going for it is slightly above sub par writing.

If you want the MMO that is all the things ESO promised to be? Hm, that's hard. TSW is a good choice, and it's more in line with casual players than ESO is now. So... I'd suggest giving that a try instead. Just keep in mind that ESO has gone in a Bold New Direction, the management at Zenimax Online Studios now wants that sweet, sweet WoW money. And we all know how well that worked out for Champions Online, Wildstar, Warhammer Online, et al, right?

So don't bother with ESO and ignore the promises made about it. It used to be a casual game, not any more.

The game tries horribly to combine the SP game and MMO together. Unfortunately since the developers already had a vision of the MMO they wanted to create, which had nothing to do with Elder Scrolls gameplay, they managed to take the worst possible elements of each to come up with this garbage.

The game is linear, without an open world, no real exploration, with bad MMO elements to boot. Everything is forced so the developers could create their PvP game with an ES skin. The PvP isn’t even that good. The game is completely on rails, and doesn’t try to hide it. Level 50 mudcrabs? I mean come on, you just took the same level 1, level 4, level 10, level 16....ect mudcrab skin and put it in a zone and level scaled it to the area. Lazy. This is the way it is with all the mobs though, if you’re in x area, everything is x level. Trash mobs are facerollable without even thinking. Skills are limited, there is no real magic. Classes are forced, and designed poorly. No utility spells, skills or anything like that to give depth to the game. Garbage game, don't contribute to this crappiness.

The marketing and customer service is even worse, just go to the official forums if you want to see what I mean. What is up with the cash shop? It’s stupid on top of a sub game, and they charge 15 bucks for a horse? I smell desperation to try to turn a profit on this game before free to play.

I'd continue my checklist on the things that completely destroy this game and its title, but I'm confident that the character limit will not suffice. From one devoted fan of the Elder Scrolls series to another: DO NOT EVEN LAY YOUR EYES ON THIS GAME, IT IS NOT WORTH A SINGLE FRACTION OF THE DOSH IT ASKS FOR.

That they even dare ask for a subscription fee for this average piece of **** is beyond me. I'd give this title a four, maybe even a five for the temporary entertainment it provided, but because of the franchise reputation it fails so miserably to uphold, it receives a 0. One can only hope that Bethesda issues immediate plans to meld this title with a free-to-play plan in the coming months in order to save what little dignity it still has.

First off I must say that the people hating on this game probably only played the beta's. I played during beta and it almost made me want to not get this game, and after being burnt by Final Fantasy 14:A Realm Reborn (A True WoW Clone), I was reluctant to try it again. I am so glad I did. Huge open zones that can be explored, tons of quests, hidden items, probably the best crafting system I have ever seen in an MMO (Simple but deep), so much customization you can create almost any character you want (would have liked more hair options). I have put in around 40 hours since early access and I'm only level 16 haven't gotten to zone 3, and haven't even touched PVP yet. I love that I don't need 6 hotbars for all my skills. I Personally chose 5 skills 1 ultimate and have just been upgrading them. There are hundreds of skills and you can swap them out but for me it was easier to just choose a few i like and morph them. Morphing abilities makes them stronger unlike other mmos where you get a new ability and previous ones become obsolete. The combat is very nicely done. You can dodge Aoe's, attack, block, stun and even do group synergy attacks which is just awesome. Love getting together with a group and killing the world monsters or helping out when chains come down from the sky. I wish I could stop talking about how awesome this game is but I can't. And the bugs oh yes the bugs, still one of the smoothest launches I have ever been a part of and they are getting things done quick, On 1st day of early access there was a quest that was bugged and I couldn't turn it in, well I went to work and came back 4 hours later to it being fixed and I could turn it in. And the gold spammer omg in FF14 ARR The spammers would create accounts faster than you could block them. In this game I blocked 3 spammers the first day 3 spammers the second day and I have yet to see one since launch. I'm sure they are around but I have not heard a gold spammer in the past 20 hours of gaming. No other MMO can say that. Are there bugs YES! are they getting fixed faster than any other MMO ont he market? You bet your sweet ass. Will there be more? I don't doubt it. Will those be fixed to? I guarantee it. So long as the cheap bastards who don't want to pay for a quality game and are fine with being blocked from content go back to their F2P MMOS and stay away from this one I will be happy. Spend more time running around than doing anything, and when you *are* doing something it's extremely boring. All interiors look the same, even when you get to a new quest zone (which will take you about 24 hours of /played per zone). Dungeon layouts are always the same, house layouts are always the same, there are only two or three tilesets throughout the game. Giving you flashbacks of Dragon Age 2 yet?

Quests are boring, they try really hard to keep it interesting with the fully-voiced quest dialogue, but that doesn't remove the problem of going into the same layouts with the same tilesets over and over and over again.

Group dungeons are abysmal, as the "Holy Trinity" mechanic (tank/dps/healer) has pretty much no depth. There aren't aggro tables, tanks can't hold aggro on anything, which means they're pretty much useless in dungeons. Range is best here because they can kite mobs endlessly, if you're a melee DPS or healer expect to die over and over because they didn't bother to build a proper PvE experience for groups. PvE in this game is really just a crappy single-player experience with a $15/month fee, which I view as a single player game that charges you for its DRM.

PvP is the laggy zergfest that Dark Age of Camelot was, the difference is DAoC came out in 2001, this is 2014, why can't ESO do any better?

The game is called "Elder Scrolls" but doesn't feel like "Elder Scrolls" at all. There's no Crime system in the game, Stealth is abysmal so if you like playing Thief types in the other ES games, you won't enjoy it here. The Mage and Fighter guilds are criminally underutilized. The skill system feels like Guild Wars. It doesn't have the sandbox feel of the ES franchise, this is another linear MMO that's trying to keep the mass of people in the same herd and shuffle them along to endgame. Loot upgrades are boring and almost all of the equipment looks the same. The game isn't very good at delivering a sense of progression.

There is no central Auction House in the game, instead the game has Guild Stores. Each guild can have a maximum of 500 members, you can be in 5 guilds at a time, but if you list something in Guild A's store, Guild 2 - 5 will not see it. This means you're only ever listing items that 500 people can ever see (assuming all 500 members are active players). Because of this, you're better off vendoring most of the stuff you'd otherwise be listing in the Auction House in a proper MMO.

Tons of progress-stopping bugs and glitches. Some people have no issues, others seem to be getting nothing but issues. This has been a problem with RPGs since the beginning, but in an MMO, you can't just wait, your subscription is ticking. Can't finish a quest? Move on to the next one. But all too commonly, you move on from one glitched quest to find another glitched quest to find another glitched quest. You can't even grind to try and get a sense of progression when your quest book is filled with broken quests, because monster XP is abysmal - you can't even grind group dungeons for XP because you only get 1 xp per monster kill. They did this because they wanted you to be out in the world questing and going through their storyline, not grinding mobs to get to 50 ASAP and skipping through all their work. This wouldn't be a problem, except what they *want* everyone to do be doing, is what's broken most of the time.

Last time a big-name video game company released an MMO this broken because they thought they were so big they didn't think they needed to care, they had to fire the original staff, take the game off the shelves, tell everyone they were "sorry", and spend two years rebuilding the game. That saw the game re-released into something that was *much* better, and that's pretty much what I feel Elder Scrolls Online needs to do. This isn't a matter of issues that can be ironed out with some patches or addressed with a major content patch or expansion, it's that the entire game is in such a terrible state that the only way to fix it is to take everything apart and try again. This is just an abysmal piece of work, and I wouldn't trust anyone who had a hand in the making of this game with serving me my morning coffee.

Just another copy paste WOW/GW clone. Elder Scrolls needs to stick to single player only. Clunky game play, bad graphics even on the highest setting. Very disappointed with this "game".

This game is not a good MMO, and not a TES game. First of all, archery is terrible. You can only shoot things that are a few steps away. If you target an enemy, turn to face the opposite direction, and then fire, your arrow will turn 180 degrees in mid air to hit the enemy. There are no physics in the game. You can't dive underwater, so that gets rid of the Argonian's best racial power. This game is not a good MMO, and not a TES game. First of all, archery is terrible. There are no physics in the game. You can't dive underwater, so that gets rid of the Argonian's best racial power. Along with the water breathing spell. There are a lot of stupid "Kill 10 of these quests." even though the advertising says otherwise. Not only that, quests are the ONLY way to level. You can't even level just by fighting or using your skills. Well, you CAN, but the exp you get from doing those things is so marginal it would take days to gain one level that way. There's no freedom to explore, you are railroaded along a linear path by enemies that will one-shot you if they're a few levels higher than you. The dungeons are linear, it's impossible to get a group for them, and when someone leaves you have to exit the dungeon, and recruit a replacement because they can't be completed with less than a full party, THEN you have to start the dungeon over from the beginning. Your choices don't matter, the phasing does not do anything but make it impossible to play with friends. The PVP is fun at first, but then you realize the keeps change hands every 30 minutes, so there's no sense of accomplishment really. The world was built for 3rd person play, then they added in 1st person mode, but it doesn't feel the same as the games because buildings are scaled for 3rd person so their ceilings are like a hundred feet above you, even for the one-room dirt floor shacks that peasants live in. There are also lots of bugged quests, and a cash shop already built into the game. So you can count on this abomination going f2p within a year. Expand

But it is a singleplayer game, you can do everything on your own, the grouping and questing together is uncomfortable and pretty much useless since there is absolutely no need for it.

The quest don't match the experience you'll need to advance in higher leveled areas.
Most of the higher level content is buggy.
Sometime the game resets your characters progress

    Things you buy disappear

In its defence the voice acting is good in parts. That's about it for me.

Honestly, it might not even be a bad MMO. But it seems to me it is only called Elder Scrolls to cash in on the goodwill attached to it, and it contributes NOTHING good back to it's name. This is shameful game development in the same vein as a flappy bird clone. This is a scar in the Elder Scroll series that is best forgotten.

(It really doesn't make a difference that was not developed by the same people - then don't call it Elser Scrolls. It still doesn't live up to its name in any way shape or for, and is just bad overall)

This can be the greatest MMO it wants to be but in the end it still fails to be the most important thing: An Elder Scrolls game. It doesn't feel like an Elder Scrolls game and, apart from the obvious fact that Bethesda has now also lost it and gone for greed rather than looking after the real fans of the universe, it certainly doesn't have the appeal of an Elder Scrolls game. I spent over 350 hours on Skyrim alone. Not even to mention the amount of hours I'd spent on each of the other Elder Scrolls games. The Elder Scrolls Online will not see me sinking any more hours into it.
Get Dark Souls or The Witcher, because Bethesda has officially ruined its best franchise.

Essentially at higher levels this game becomes frustrating and impossible to complete. There are still way to many bugs that have been ignored in the main quest lines. You will find it is nearly impossible to play without add-ons as well. Trading between guilds and players require it if you desire to actually find the items you are searching for. 1. Superb graphics and music/sound
    2. Storyline and many side quests to keep you going
    3. many items to collect
    4. huge maps to explore
    5. PVP kinda fun at beginning

    Cons. (major limitation/failure)
    -------------------------------------------
    1. No market / Auction House (AH): basically its very hard to sell the item you gain from hunting/grinding or the items you make to other players.

    2. No Admins or Mods in the game, since its early access till now. No customer support at all.

    3. many hackers/ money spammers/scammers/ads: they created their own accounts in the game based on some exploit and spam everyone in the game, you get their spam on chat, private messages, guild invitation, guild messages, admin messages, all sort of things.

    4. Item Duplication: occurred on 18th April (as i heard by some people), game dev. didn't talked about it. Those who knew about it, made more than 100k gold... and it caused collapse of the gold value in the fresh start of the game. (no money removal, or server rollback to remove the excess money), and since there is no online admins or moderators, finding exploits by dev. are always too late.

    5. PVP quest exploit: occurred on the first days of the game, there was a quest in the PVP map (Cyrodiil) that gives a lot of experience and can be repeated indefinitely... Some people reached from lvl 10-50 in 12 hours playing only from playing this quest. Later they fixed the quest but it was late, many people already maxed the levels in the first 4-10 days and made the unbalance in the PVP server.

many more things, in conclusion, this game only fun at the start, later you will see that there is no fun like playing skyrim or other series of Elder Scrolls, no depth in the game, just grind, do quests, collect items (harvesting) do pvp and pay them $15 a month. No customer support, a lot of gold spammers, many bugs/crashes/ exploits, unbalanced pvp.... not worth it. go play another mmorpg game better, this game got ruined cause of lack of support and early glitches and exploits.

Perhaps the only way to this game now to be fair, if they open a new mega server...

—Combat: It can be suited to your taste. Many ways to fight enemies.
    —Re-playable
    —Huge map to explore.

    The Worse:
—You can´t get into the game because of the huge amount of players playing it. This is the worse thing not only because of this but also because the game get a lot of lag that make the game unplayable at moments. In my case my Mac crashes to desktop a lot of times.
—The group finder tool dont work very well. You have to wait a lot to make dungeons even now when there are a lot of player playing this game.
—If you want to play this game for a year you have to pay almost 200 euros. If you want to play Skyrim forever with all DLC's and with all the mods you want you only pay 30 euros or less. And Skyrim is way better than this game and more replayable. Play for a month TESO = 55 euros and you don't own the game if you quit paying monthly fee. Without monthly fee this game is 7,5 score, no more.

Doing all the quests will put you below 50 if you happened to select Daggerfall as your starting faction, leaving you completely SCREWED. Trade skills were touted as one of the best features of the game and while it's impressive your left with a bank so small and so expansive to upgrade that you'll need all 10 character slots just to hold small amounts of mats (that stack poorly on top of everything else). The combat is familiar and reminds of skyrim and oblivion. the four classes gives you enough to play with and the 3 different factions fighting for control over the realm seems promising and balanced.
But that where the good ends and the bad starts to kick in.
The world doesn't encourage you to play with other people, people run from one boring quest to the next without any incentive other than to level up and push the boring story forward, the game doesn't manage to lure you in,. this is due to the doll quest, unimmersive environment which doesn't react to your actions with spawning enemies every 30 seconds and other player runabouts who are completeting the exact same quests as you, so there you are stuck in this chain of quests and poorly done exploration, where you are about to embark on this important quest only to find out someone else finished that gravely important quest only seconds before, and someone else is going to finish the exact same quest after you seconds after. Its ridiculous.

The leveled enemies - enemies are leveled in order to guide you on the right path of exploration, there is no lore difference between the enemies you defeat when you are level 1 and the enemies you defeat at level 20 other than to guide you on the right path of the developer, this makes no sense storywise.

enemies spread - enemies are spread in pairs across the map and seem to take no notice of their friends 20 meters away who are engaged in deadly combat.

Graphics and sound are mediocre in comparison to 2011 skyrim, everything feels dead and flat.

Despite the fuzz it gave me to play an elderscrolls game. and the prospect of engaging in a battle as part of the alliance, this game is a total letdown and isn't worth your money.

This game is not worth a dime ... total rip off and waste of money, filled with bots who Spam bosses and auto tele around maps and auto harvest the item nodes on their site... the developers don't bother themselves to fix the security holes and only go make more advertisements (recent one on torwich site) and close their eyes on the dreadful bugs and hackers / unplayable quests....

piece of advice, rate this game ZERO 0/10 and don't bother buying the game... 90% of positive review are fake (if not more than 90%) BEWARE, wait till its free to play then buy (if you want to try)

The game doesn't even have a playable endgame yet. And you only get about 1 gold septim per enemy and the crappyest horse costs 17200 gold or about 17 canadian dollars and that price is just for the horrible horse. Also groups cannot do story line quests together and must go individualy plus when you reach the boss there is already 30 other players waiting for him to respawn. I Played every beta, closed and open, while the game itself was "ok" the price and p2p subscription is unfathomable.

The loot is mediocre and the PvP gets old fast - the game almost feels like a a solo game trying to enter into the Elder scrolls universe, almost a rip-off if you will (like GTA clones) But Lacking the graphics and being double the price of its rivals, which is madness.

Like many, if the subscription drop's its price a little (or it dies and goes free to play) then i would give it a second chance - but for now i will just stick to skyrim + mods.

This is not an MMO, it's a Single Player game turned MMO with boring PvE and unbalanced PvP.
If it's an Elder Scroll game you were looking for just play Skyrim or the older ones like Morrowind (my favourite).
If it's an MMO you were looking for just do yourself a favour and keep looking.

I hated the economy. For example no way to sell to strangers beside spamming trade chat with WTS. And the fans from the elder scrolls series don't want to play an MMO and the game reflects it.

this is just rubbish not worth your money at all.
i'm a elder scrolls fan, but this game is only made for your money, every month you need to pay otherwise all your hard work will be for nothing. you really need to buy a horse or else you just wander around in EMPTY landscapes, and don't think you will buy a horse soon, no no because you get 1 coin from each dead enemy.. and a horse cost

I got the same feeling from this game as I did from Halo 3 to Halo 4. Different designer of a classic, amazing series took everything that was good about the Elder Scrolls name, removed it, stole generic MMO play style from other popular MMOs and then duct-taped it back together. At least in this case I can hope to god Bethesda doesn't think that this game was a success by any means. To me personally, as soon as I heard that there was an extra fee to play imperials I knew this game was a money grab, I'm sure I wasn't the only one. I historically played WoW almost since its release. I don't play it anymore because I simply can't justify the monthly cost for content that continues to dumb down the originality of the game to "appease the masses" as in, "we have to market this so that anyone from ages 8-18 will want to play it." This is just yet another title that loses it's connection to its name, and disappoints anyone who wanted a fresh game concept. Very few games are hard anymore, this one is just pathetic. Not that anyone reads these but If someone made an MMO with similar objectives as WoW, BUT and this is a big BUT, completely re-engineered the combat system to be almost a copy of the way chivalry is (if anyone has played that) that someone would become a billionaire over night. I was hoping this game would take a crack at that but it severely missed its potential, all to make quick money. I read a 10 on here that bashed everyone calling this game garbage. Their reasoning was that all of us giving this game terrible reviews is a ploy to keep people playing WoW. Well, as I just said and I'm sure i'm not the only one. I no longer play WoW, and I haven't in years. Explain to me my secret plan to keep people playing WoW? Anyway Don't buy this piece of garbage. It literally took everything and I mean EVERYTHING that makes Elder Scrolls a fantastic series and removed it. The only MMO in my opinion that's worth its cost is EVE. I personally just don't have the time to learn it and I'm not so much into the space scene. But If I was I would recommend it much sooner than this. I would rather play runescape, or neverwinter, or LOTR, or .....I think you get my point. This game doesn't offer anything new or unique, just recycled **** that nobody wants. Expand

This game could have been so much more than what it is, even for an MMO. It's way overpriced for what it is, there's having a subscription to worry about paying after already buying a $70 game. Animations are horrible, immersion is terrible, and combat is terrible. All in all, very disappointing.

Nothing like any of the other Elder Scrolls games at all. If you want to play somthing that feels more like an ES game, play Guild Wars 2. This is just so horrible, i had such fate in this game.

Game launch was a failure which is why they went B2P and all the issues that where there since game start have yet to be addressed:

    - AVAVA is laggy, they keep advertising the game with "Epic Battles" which are impossible because of the lag.
    - Clunky UI.
    - Clunky Combat.
    - No balance between Magicka & Stamina builds
    - No balance between classes.
    - Solo quest feels empty and doesn't feel like a TESO game.
    - Veteran Levels are still there and still a pain to level up to the point hundreds have quit because of it.

They also recently implemented a "Champion System" that offers endless progression (years of progression), and each point makes your character stronger, which means that any new player that isn't max level yet will always have less points than the older players and will always be weaker.

Moreover Zenimax Online (which is a horrific company to work for from what reviews say on the net), does not care the slightest about their customers. Many times they have implemented game changing patchs without any compensation to their players thus making them loose a lot of progress and advancement.

If you want to play a game for a company who cares only about money, that lies repeatedly to it's customers, has a harsh forum moderation (to silence people who complain) and doesn't care about it's customers, Elder Scrolls Online is the place to go!

This game was supposed to be great, it doesn't deserve to be successful after how they ruined it. Zenimax is just a bunch of liars led by a Marketting team that takes all the decisons and will stay in Mat Frior's resumee like a big failure.

Eight years of development, a team consisting of even 250 people at some points, budget reaching hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s a pity that this ‘Skyrim Online’ disappoints both fans of previous Bethesda games and MMORPG veterans who expected some fresh air in the stale genre. [06/2014, p.44]

A well done MMO that can lure players not familiar with the genre. But if you've played MMOs before, this one doesn't offer anything new, nor anything exciting.
