    For as popular as a game series The Elder Scrolls is, Oblivion still feels incredibly underrated as a classic that deserves the same amount of respect as other games from the time period it was released (Resident Evil 4, Bully, BioShock, Portal, etc.)

    If there's one thing that Bethesda is consistently great at, it's world building and giving worlds personality.     If there's one thing that Bethesda is consistently great at, it's world building and giving worlds personality. It really feels like its own world, with each town having its own culture, each race having their own culture, each guild having its own culture. Skyrim also did really well with this.

    One thing that Skyrim didn't do as well were the guild quests. Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood quests all were so unique, exciting, and so memorable. The fact I still remember the quests of hiding in the walls, having to hide in plain site during the Whodunit quest, and of course, the overarching storyline of Dark Brotherhood, shows what Oblivion did really well, that Skyrim just missed the mark on.

    The game isn't perfect though (no where near it), the graphics have obviously aged pretty bad, the Oblivion gates gets boring after the third one, and the AI for NPC conversations, but those don't matter when you look back at what you've done after you finish the game.    … Expand

    Игра великолепная! Хоть и есть пару минусов. Но сначала о плюсах. Игра простая, но быстро сюжет быстро вовлекает в себя. Просто огромный свободный мир (для того времени он был действительно огромным). Проработанные квесты. Очень красивое музыкальное сопровождение (композиции Джереми Соула просто очень успокаивающие). Очень хорошо сделанные ДЛС (Больше всего мне понравился "ДрожащиеИгра великолепная! Хоть и есть пару минусов. Но сначала о плюсах. Игра простая, но быстро сюжет быстро вовлекает в себя. Просто огромный свободный мир (для того времени он был действительно огромным). Проработанные квесты. Очень красивое музыкальное сопровождение (композиции Джереми Соула просто очень успокаивающие). Очень хорошо сделанные ДЛС (Больше всего мне понравился "Дрожащие острова". Простая но интересная прокачка. Красивый мир. Хоть и простая, но хорошая для тех лет система боя. И еще редактор персонажа в начале игры:) (В те годы таких игр где можно было создать своего персонажа было мало). Ну и теперь о минусах. Система повышения откровенно говоря бесит! Конечно идея того что монстры и враги будут прокачиваться вместе с тобой довольно не плохая, но она в этой игре сделана очень плохо. После определенной прокачки персонажа кто угодно, даже бомж может иметь стеклянный меч! А оно одно из самых лучших оружий. Короче говоря, очень несбалансированный автолевелинг. И так же есть проблемы с генерацией. Например, трава торчащая из камня. Одинаковые локации. Тут очень много одинаковых пещер, что даже через некоторое время создается ощущение дежавю. И потом это немного надоедает обыскивать эти пещеры. И еще есть довольно много пустых локаций. Может конечно там что то появится с продвижением в сюжете. Но я так не думаю. Та и потом просто забываешь о том месте. Хоть и есть такие минусы, но я все равно эта игра будет продолжать оставаться в моем сердце, как одна из лучших игр. И сотни часов игры в нее определено стоит того!… Expand

    Showing it's age by today's graphics, but still a brilliant game I still enjoy today.

    This game introduced me to the elder scrolls series. Though it may not hold up as well today, It felt amazing when it came out.

    The experience I have with this game was amazing, the graphics are not so great the world is amazing and so alive it really seems like a different world.

    The best Elder Scrolls ever.
    Obviously there are some bugs and for this reason,i can't give a perfect score.
    But the graphics,the gameplay,the soundtrack are incredible

    I absolutely love this game. I played it back in 2006 and have never stopped. It offer so much good RPG elements.

    As much as I love Elder Scroll games, this one was a terrible experience for me - played for around 10 hours > got pissed > uninstalled it.

    One of the best games of all time in my opinion, When i was young and this game came out, it was huge. I feel like it opened up the door for games of this nature, Would highly recommend, even in 2022.

    I've had TES IV: Oblivion GOTY ever since it came out and this was my teenage-years' favorite game; of course, this is still one of my favorite games. There are some strange things in the game (like how guards can detect a crime, sometimes, about 1 km away--just check the construction kit) that make parts of it funny.

    The story is good and there are quite a few side quests to go with,    I've had TES IV: Oblivion GOTY ever since it came out and this was my teenage-years' favorite game; of course, this is still one of my favorite games.     Graphics are obviously outdated, as this is now a very old game. However, if you're an RPG fan or Bethesda fan in general, you can't NOT play this. The plot's great, the writing and scripting of the quests are so fun and have twists and you'll definitely come back to this game time and time again to play. Fun game overall. Worth a play!

    Old and buggy, but still good. I played TES V Skyrim and got deeply immersed in the lore of The Elder Scrolls long before I ever even considered playing this game, but I really love the added context you get when exploring Cyrodiil and going through the main Quest. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Skyrim and it's lore and especially to those who are still new to the series as whole.

    I find it very addicting so in that sense I wouldn't recommend it. But yeah, it's a great game. Buggy as heck, but a lot of fun.

    gud game v gud, best of elder scrolls. do not buy if using keyboard or u will have to mod it and then it wont work or be sensitive enough and you'll want to kys

For those familiar with the TES series, a plus for Oblivion, that I was sorry they lost in Skyrim, the merchants do not run out of money. Comes in handier than it may sound.
    I have Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim. Of these, Oblivion is my    Great FPS game. Graphics are beautiful, especially considering the release date. Story line is a fav.     Even after over a decade of Skyrim, I'd say Oblivion is still worth playing. Skyrim is undoubtedly better-designed as a game, but Oblivion feels more like a fantasy-adventure to me.

    16 yr old game is refreshing to play, a break from all the high tech glitz & glamour often seen in today's games. The mechanics & elements of this game are unique for its time.
    Well worth playing!

    I haven't played it for as many hours as I loved Skyrim, but it's definitely a game that I found at least as successful. Don't mind that it's old, give it a chance.

    Melhor que a Skyrim, mas na minha opinião não o melhor que a série tem a oferecer, com uma grande quantidade de bugs e um sistema de level-up horrível.

    This game is a masterpiece and has some of the best quests and stories in an rpg but the random vampirism mechanic can ruin an entire playthrough and knocks 2 points off of my rating.

    Przyjemna do przeżycia historia oraz sympatyczne postacie pozwalające nam poznać ten (nie zawsze) spokojny świat. Miejscami nieco powtarzalna mechanika misji, aczkolwiek na czas w jaki przyszło mi przejść tę grę czuję, że bawiłem się od początku do końca wyśmienicie.

A massive amount of quests, tons of unique items, crazy good DLC, innumerable tools to break the game entirely, an expansive magic and enchantment system... it presents a deep and well-realized world that while not the most inspired, is a joy to delve into

    A masterpiece. This game changed not only the genre, but the entire industry. Building upon morrowind, they managed to retain the depth while taking away mechanics that reduced immersion. This game has high replayability, intense depth, and each playthrough and character can be completely different.     The best Elder scrolls game ever made. Period.

    Skyrim is great but it's very dumbed down compared to the previous versions of Elder Scrolls. Oblivion was the best out of the series in my opinion.

    Oblivion is by far the closest I have come to playing D&D Sunday afternoons with my friends (yes, I did that, though I’m on medication now), all wrapped up in a stunning package with tens of thousands of lines of spoken dialog and good music.
