This interesting free-to-play shooter set on an intriguing alien planet can be immensely satisfying or (more often) painfully frustrating depending on how you fare and how well you manage your equipment and finances in the face of losing everything you’re carrying upon death.

The Cycle: Frontier is a game that has a great foundation for the future. The PvPvE shooter shows no mercy. Other players will try to steal your loot and the only thing you can do is either run away and hopefully lose them or fight back and kill them before they kill you. The feeling when extracting after a tough run is phenomenal. A recommendation for anyone who’s looking for a free PvPvE shooter. However, the game also has still a couple of issues, which need to be fixed.

Mostly flash with very little substance. The incredible graphics and overall design draw you in but there’s not much to keep you there.

The Cycle: Frontier is well-polished but undone by tedium and a lack of imagination.

There’s a great game somewhere inside The Cycle, and lush world design, clever environmental layout, and solid gun feel all point towards it. Unfortunately, it’s all rendered into tedious, cynical nonsense by a mobile-game style approach to progression and monetisation, and a thin, repetitive core loop.

Somehow, I couldn't hear enemy walking steps at all- they just kept suddenly popping up and ruining my day. When I shoot somebody I can see a shield icon and it feels like I do zero damage. But when someone else shoots me, 1 shot is enough to decrease my health by half. Feels bad, man. Full Review »

I would give a scoreThis game had a wipe mechanic build in in Season 1 and 2. In season 3 they finally removed that annoying wipe mechanic. I would give a score of 10 but there are just to many things that just bothers me to much.

    1. Redicolous small Inventory stack size. Most items have stacks up to like 10 items which makes it very hard to really play and enjoy the game. It is a hardcore looter shooter BUT it feels not like that because the laughable inventory stacks are just to small. Sometimes I don't even know if I should go and have some more runs when I can't store the items anyways.
    2. There are tooooo many people on these maps. It is almost impossible to avoid people while playing the game. I meet 95% of the time someone who tries to kill me and steel my stuff. This game feels more like a battle royal game where 20 people are thrown in a small room. They definitely have to reduce the amount of player a map can have. Max of 7 Player should be fine.
    3. Very bad optimisation. I have 93 degree of my graphics card when I am in a jungle and 90+ CPU heat very often aswell. Even in the station alone with lowest settings possible.

The game would be really amazing if these things I've mentioned, would be better.
