I lapped up all the skulking, whispering skullduggery and a few of the plot twists caught me by surprise. I can't wait for more.

The puzzles, while not all of them were hard, they were intriguing and fun. As a person who loves mythology, I thoroughly enjoyed the maze puzzle. There are plenty of things I would have done differently but the fun of the game is to progress even when you fail. I'm looking forward to the next episode when it releases.

Hide and Seek maintains the level of quality demonstrated in the series premiere. Presentation aside, the classic and new systems in place make for some good gameplay moments, and the story remains as intriguing as ever. It answers a few questions while providing more queries to ponder. If the release schedule goes on as expected, it shouldn't be too long before the third episode arrives, and we can't wait to see what's in store.

The best parts of The Council, namely the skill and Social Influence systems, are still strong. The slower pace and mediocre puzzles of Episode Two degrade the experience a bit, though.

The interest within the argument in this second episode, Hide and Seek, descends in comparison to the first one. The weight of the story relies more in the puzzles and riddles than in the really interesting part of the game: the historical and distinguished guests.

For some reasons the second episode breaks some promises made by the developers, but still keeps the intrigue.

The mix of story-driven game, history and RPG gameplay elements is working pretty well but The Council Episode 2: Hide and Seek is never surprising nor impressive, for it is riveted to its base formula.

Though interactions with noble aristocrats throughout the manor retain their charm, these moments are undercut by poor technical performance, disappointing pacing and an unfocused series of story beats. “Hide and Seek” flirts with squandering the series’ potential.

Not only will Episode 2: Hide and Seek not turn the heads of those who didn't like the first part of The Council, but it will probably disappoint the ones that did, as it takes a couple of steps backward. The journey through the realm of mystery thrillers it offers remains a somewhat engrossing one, but it surely needs to think a lot about its next step if it is to succeed.

Even the high-fidelity visuals are marred by an inconsistent framerate and terrible animations and transitions.

It’s a great murder mystery to solve and the use of your investigation skills is something I thoroughly enjoyed. The Bible references did seem to drag on for 20 minutes or so until I figured out the riddles and puzzles, but all in all it’s a good addition to the series. Full Review »
