    With a critical view of modern spiritual cults and quite a few good jump scares, The Chant’s story-driven adventure is a remnant from the old days when AA survival horror games such as Alone in the Dark and Fatal Frame were not forgotten. The game definitely has its flaws, but it has the potential to turn into a modern AA horror franchise.

    Interesting plot, appropriate puzzles and vulnerable, yet brave protagonist can guarantee that you'll have at least a couple of fun evening while playing The Chant.

    The Chant is a horror movie with some interesting ideas. The narrative intrigues the user and encourages him to venture into the darkest corners of Glory Island. The story, however, loses its bite at the end, failing to keep up with what was shown in the first hours of the game. The combat, the survival component and the vital parameters of Jess, are elements well amalgamated with each other, although they do not manage to affect the gameplay in a fully effective way. In short, we are talking about a first discreet test for Brass Token, which we hope can return with a more refined and scary horror in the future.

    The Chant is a psychedelic folk-horror action-adventure game that has more to it than one might expect from an indie title. While it doesn't bring anything particularly new to the table with its gameplay, it does provide a successfully fun experience and a compelling cult setting to sink into. [Quick Look]

    The Chant gets a bit predictable, in other words, both in terms of the story and the weirdness. For me the intelligent things it does didn't quite balance that out, which makes it, once again, a game that would work really well for Game Pass.

Starting with the menus (perfectly clear, and with options for FoV and turn TAA off and compatible with Widescreen) to the optimization (runs perfect without DLSS in a RTX 3070 but with a 10 years old CPU like a 5820K) this game is the sleeper of 2022. Interesting plot and characters, good level design, on point combat (not Elden Ring but it does the job), Silent Hill vibes...whatever you name it you have it here. My only small complaint are facial animations, wich feel a little bit awkward at times.… Full Review »

    I think the concept of cult horror is very wonderful.

    Characters and creatures seemed like Silent Hill and I enjoyed them.
    Voice acting was good.
    The biggest disappointment was that the characters' faces and movements felt cheap.
    There are multiple endings, but it was an ending that seems to have a sequel.
