    Adventure Pals is a passable platformer game. Along with your buddies Sparkles the Giraffe and Mr. Rock, you must save your father from being turned into a hot dog by the nefarious Doctor B.

    The core platforming of this game is very standard – you can jump, you can slide down walls and wall jump off of them, you can whack stuff with your sword, and you can throw (limited) bombs from    Adventure Pals is a passable platformer game. Along with your buddies Sparkles the Giraffe and Mr. Rock, you must save your father from being turned into a hot dog by the nefarious Doctor B.

    The core platforming of this game is very standard – you can jump, you can slide down walls and wall jump off of them, you can whack stuff with your sword, and you can throw (limited) bombs from your inventory at enemies. You have limited health but, when you are knocked down to nothing, you automatically use a healing potion, which makes the game pretty trivial – it’s quite easy to beat the entire game without ever dying even once, with the only real threat being the spikes (which, later on, you can cause to just respawn you a short distance away).

    Thus, the real challenge of the game is making your way through the levels and fighting your way through the enemies without taking too much damage. Or at least, not so much that the steady stream of them ends with you running out. Given that most of the time, I was running into the opposite problem of too much stuff in my inventory, it wasn’t really an issue.

    So… really it’s mostly just about the mechanics of getting through the levels. And while they’re okay, there’s nothing really super memorable here. It feels like the set of challenges you see in every such game – some spikes, some underwater sections, some bits where there are things on tracks that chase you, and a few rather simple bosses.

    It’s really hard to say really bad things about the game (other than that its creator’s love of Adventure Time shines quite brightly) but it’s also hard to say anything overly positive. This is a par for the course, average platforming game. It’s competent, but unexceptional. The humor is medeciore - very Cartoon Network, and rarely funny enough to make me laugh, but never so bad as to aggravate me. And… that’s all there really is.

    Is this the game for you? If you’re dying to play a game with the same sort of humor you see in shows like Adventure Time, and you like platformers, this is fine. But the problem is that it is just fine – there’s nothing really exceptional here. If you’re looking for something that is actively good, this isn’t really that – it’s passable. I don’t regret playing it, but I wouldn’t have regretted not playing it, either.    … Expand

    This is a true gem, one of the best platformers that I played ... ever.
    If you like Mario then make sure you don't miss The Adventure Pals.

    Picked this game up on a whim. Wanted something straight forward and got exactly that. Gameplay is very monotonous and easy. There are no bosses to speak of, at least half way in where I stopped playing. Enemy design and level design are mediocre. BUT the tone of the game is great and that's really what makes this a 7 instead of a 6.

    The is a really charming game visually...
    it feels very cartoon network style with its goofy animations and characters...
    The characters and art of this game save this what otherwise is a pretty bland experience..
    There were some funny moments sprinkled in here with different npcs, but the dialog quickly just becomes nonsense that I had no interest in reading...
    And the levels are decently fun to get through... but the get stale fairly quickly…
    The objective of a quest is go to a section marked on your map and get from checkpoint to checkpoint 5 times, and at the end of the final checkpoint in an area is the gem to move on..
    However there are no checkpoints in between these mini levels within the levels you have to get from your well to the next will without dying or the current mini level you’re in will reset itself..
    Which honestly isn’t a big deal... it can actually be really helpful at times as there is an xp system here...
    you have a sword for combat, and you’re accompanied by your birthday giraffe and a rock to help you with platforming and mild combat help as well.. Enemies drop xp which allows you to pick one of 3 upgrades... all of which you’ll have by the end of the game, but these upgrades can give you health by doing damage, it can make the xp drops and coins magnetic to your, make enemies drop pickups... all the way to the max level of 21 which is easily reached before the games end…
    these item drops are useful in combat and range from health pickups, invincibility potions, and bombs..
    There are moments you can skip over enemies and some moments where you’ll have to defeat enemies in an area to move on, and you’ll basically be throwing switches, pulling levels... searching for cupcakes to turn in for a random cosmetic item, searching for sticker packs, and collecting cash to unlock chests throughout levels that also contain consumable items and you can buy these items at shops
    all of this looks and sounds great.. And at first it actually is great...
    The gameplay is smooth and fluent... the combat is engaging, you’ll have to dodge spongier enemies... you’ll later have to deal with enemies that heal during battle and some that have ranged attacks..
    However unfortunately all 9 hours of this game feels exactly the same
    And that could come down to the nature of these types of games where the platforming is a mix of vertical and horizontal, it’s much harder to tell a story and change things up in every level like a Mario game does for example.. And this game suffers by this fact...
    there are a few neat moments here with its switches and simple puzzles... but these moments are so rare…
    The only change up is that each of the world end in a super simple boss battle to take you to a new world and complete another 25 mini levels that all feel the same..
    They tried… there’s new enemies and picks ups as the game goes on... there’s even a water world…
    But nothing mixes the gameplay up enough…
    The Adventure Pals is an enjoyable and cute looking game.. But it’s a monotonous game that overstays its welcome.

    Ainda que seja tecnicamente competente, The Adventure Pals infelizmente se torna esquecível por causa da falta de ambição dos desenvolvedores. Pelo medo de errar, a Massive Monster se manteve em sua zona de conforto, condenando o jogo à mediocridade. Ele ainda pode ser um passatempo divertido, porém, em especial se jogado com um amigo.

    However, I must admit that I found the game's difficulty to be a bit lacking. The overall gameplay felt too easy, including the boss fights, which seemed to lack a significant challenge. While this may not have been an issue for my girlfriend, who isn't as experienced in gaming, it indicates that the game is more suitable for a casual or less skilled audience.

    Unfortunately, we did encounter a frustrating bug during our playthrough. At one point in the game, we experienced a game-breaking glitch that prevented us from continuing. Despite researching the issue, it seemed to be a recurring problem for many players, and no effective fix was available. The only solution we found was to restart the entire game from the beginning, losing our progress and save file in the process. Although we were fortunate that it occurred relatively early in the game, it was still an annoying inconvenience.

    In conclusion, "The Adventure Pals" is a highly enjoyable and entertaining game, especially when played in couch co-op with a loved one. Its delightful art style, humorous elements, and fun gameplay make it a nice experience. However, the lack of challenge in the difficulty and the presence of game-breaking bugs are aspects that need improvement. Despite these flaws, I would still recommend giving it a try, especially if you're seeking a light-hearted and whimsical co-op experience.    … Expand

    A wonderfully charming platformer than has more character in the first five minutes than some manage in their entirety. The inclusion of local co-op means you can make your way through the story with a friend and share the weirdness together.

    The Adventure Pals is a cartoonish romp with bombastic platforming gameplay that’s as addictive as it is silly. Easy controls and eye-popping art contribute to a candy-sweet experience — one that ultimately leaves you wanting something a little more substantial.
