Lack of good story, only arrogant dialogue options, boring gameplay where you only have to search for things in an open area. Besides all of this, the game is featuring a lot of politics.

More like Tell Me Why Anyone Should Buy This? Oh DONTNOD... Rushed ep 5 of LiS1, made LiS 2 so embarrassingly laughable, even made Vampyr look horrid, and now TMW? Still below average voice acting, Jump Force has better lip sync, the story- ehm... well... Lacks what a story should have.

This is easily one of the WORST "games" that I have ever had the displeasure of playing. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS LITERALLY NO GAME. And on top of this, it forces politics down your throat to add insult to injury. It's disgusting that Xbox Game Studios, the publishers who introduced us to such masterpieces as Halo and Gears of War, now undermined to THIS?! And to add to this, I got this game for FREE, and I still want a refund for the garbage. Buy something from a small Indie studio instead, Cuphead would be a great place to start. It's time to tell Micro$oft that we don't want this trash, we want real video games. Good day to you all. Expand

Gameplay was boring, nothing special here.

Story was very preachy. A lot of dialog options give you only snide, arrogant comments. Politics were up front and center. I don’t care if someone is trans and won’t judge them for it. However the storytellers trying to preach to be upset because this dudes mom wouldn’t let him transition when he was a little kid is ridiculous. Trans individuals unfortunately have a hard time in life and have a high suicide rate, transitioning most of the time causes permanent changes, most children who identify as the opposite gender change their mind before they are an adult. Therefore, you will never convince me that transitioning little kids is ethical. TLDR: Graphics 3/10
    Gameplay 2/10

This is a game that strives to push the envelope of narrative-based gaming but falls far short of its potential. The entire experience feels like an extended, ambulatory simulation that struggles to maintain interest. It disappointingly takes little advantage of the exciting possibilities that video games offer, focusing instead on a linear, poorly paced plot.

The entire experience feels like an extended, ambulatory simulation that struggles to maintain interest. The game suffers from a significant overdose of cliches, which undermine the narrative's originality. It further fails in its attempt to reflect a diversity of experiences, defaulting instead to an excessively Americanized perspective that doesn't resonate with global players.
Tell Me Why is a walking simulator that, despite promising potential, is burdened by a lack of compelling gameplay, a surplus of cliches, and a failure to authentically represent a broad spectrum of experiences.

Tell Me Why is kind of a fascinating experience. It feels personal and down-to-earth, even if it can at times be a little dull. The struggle of its twin protagonists to come to terms with the death of their troubled mother is relatable, even if the game never definitively answers their questions about her. Tyler’s experiences as a trans man feel genuine, and the game treats him with respect, even though it also capitalizes on his trauma to move the plot along. In the end, memories can only reveal so much, particularly when they conflict with someone else’s, and the only peace you can really have is the peace you choose to make for yourself.

What it lacks in its limited characters and locations, Tell Me Why makes up with a personal, intimate narrative that nicely captures the essence of everyday life and offers a much-needed examination of the human condition, all wrapped in a beautiful presentation in true DONTNOD style.

It’s still good old Dontnod but Tell Me Why falls short of the studio’s previous achievements. Outdated engine aside, the game lacks interesting interactions or a relationship as powerful as Chloe’s and Max’s friendship in Life is Strange. Its simple story is quite linear and fails to surprise, and supporting characters are rather bland. [11/2020, p.62]
