Jan 31, 2024Having now spent enough time online and offline with Tekken 8 across Steam Deck, PS5, and Xbox Series X, I can safely say that Bandai Namco Studios hit it out of the park with this one. It is a universal improvement over the last game and delivers a superb package right from day one. While it has a few things I’d like to see fixed in updates, Tekken 8 gets my highest possible recommendation right now. I can’t wait to play more. It feels great to not only enjoy playing a new Tekken game, but also have it actually push visuals once again. Tekken 8 has great gameplay, awesome music, superb visuals, a brilliant replay system, and one of the best story modes in a modern fighter.

Jan 23, 2024Tekken 8 is a marked improvement over Tekken 7 and a perfectly executed balancing act, keeping older players happy while revealing its trademark freedom to newcomers.

Jan 23, 2024If this review appears glowing, frankly that's how I feel about the game. It's without a doubt my favourite fighting game out right now, and I've been fiending to get back online ever since they took the pre-release servers down. The one scratch on the game's spotless form is online infrastructure that doesn't quite live up to other games on the market right now, which makes it hard to recommend to those with seperated friend groups or subpar online connections. If neither of those apply to you, Tekken 8 is absolutely worth picking up at your earliest convenience.
-
Jan 23, 2024Tekken 8 is the ultimate Tekken game. A glossy veneer of modernity encases a strong foundation that builds upon its predecessors to great success. In every regard, Tekken 8 matches and surpasses the very best that the series, and the fighting game genre as a whole, has to offer.
-
Feb 7, 2024A masterclass in fighting game design, perfect for both new and old players alike.
-
Feb 1, 2024Tekken 8 is an example of a game living up to it's own hype. With a fantastic roster of warriors, amazing single and multi-player modes, great online connectivity and incredible graphics and sound, Tekken 8 solidifies itself as one of the best in the business and an excellence of execution.
-
Feb 2, 2024Good story mode, fun gameplay, great training modes, near perfect online mode, plenty of fighters to choose and detailed customization options. Tekken 8 is an ideal package with everything I could want from a fighting game.
-
Feb 19, 2024Tekken 8 is another impressive addition to Bandai Namco's highly successful line-up of famous fighting games, combining abundant content and a very entertaining "easy-to-learn/hard-to-master" gameplay.
-
Feb 9, 2024Tekken 8 blew us away with its excellent, engaging features that are fine-tuned to fit every fighting game fan's preference. It also offers a battle system that new and veteran players can enjoy...as long as you can take the Heat.
-
Feb 5, 2024TEKKEN 8 hits hard with what could quite possibly be the best TEKKEN entry to date. Fresher than newcomer Azucena’s signature coffee blend, this title does everything in its power to make this King of Iron Fist tournament worthy of all players.
-
Feb 2, 2024With Tekken 8, Bandai Namco takes everything that was good about its predecessor and ups the ante on most things. While it’s not a revolutionary sequel, all the improvements make Tekken 8 a must-have for fighting fans – whether you play to be the best or just for fun.
-
Jan 31, 2024Tekken 8 is a stellar entry to the series with something for everyone. Whether you're a grizzled veteran or just want to play as the guy who looks like Bruce Lee, there's never been a better time to enjoy the King of Iron Fist tournament.
-
Jan 31, 2024Tekken 8 brings everything you desire from a new game in the franchise. A fantastic story mode, lots of options, fighters and possibilities. Fine, refreshing gameplay and good online functionalities. The few minor downsides the game has are that the character customization isn't that captivating and the rollback netcode could be just a little bit better for the perfect experience. That being said, Tekken 8 is a must have.

Jan 24, 2024Tekken 8 is excellent. The fighting is just as crisp as ever, and the addition of the Heat mechanic and an increased focus on aggression create a game that feels both exciting to play and watch. The bevy of new modes was what the game needed at launch, and there's more than enough content to keep players busy without feeling like every facet of the title had been explored. The fighting game scene has been blessed with banger after banger over the last few years, and Tekken 8 keeps that trend going. Fans of the fighting game genre need to have Tekken 8 in their libraries.
-
Jan 23, 2024Tekken 8 has progressed in every aspect compared to its predecessors, from the overall narrative and direction to the depth of the system and user convenience. It is a fighting game that can provide ample enjoyment not only for long-time fans but also for new users.
-
Jan 23, 2024Tekken 8 takes everything that made its predecessors so popular and takes it to a whole new level.
-
Jan 23, 2024Street Fighter 6 just raised the bar for AAA fighting games midway through 2023, and its long-time 3D rival Tekken has already matched it. Tekken 8's story mode is a breath of fresh air after T7's, and its abundance of single-player modes will give casual fans plenty to do afterward. Veterans can enjoy Tekken 8's new characters and mechanics without the game’s fundamentals being compromised, and a top-notch presentation will impress without technical hiccups. No one could have expected Tekken 8 to improve this much after Tekken 7 was already so strong, but it's clear that the new game won’t settle for anything less than being the series’ best.

Jan 23, 2024Tekken 8 is full of excitement and we loved it! Technically, in both substance and form, the Bandai Namco fighting game is a gem of the genre. If it sometimes lacks a little originality in terms of content, but there is still a lot of it, it all makes it one of the best 3D fighting games of recent years. Its new features in terms of gameplay are enough to stand out from previous opuses and hold its own against its competitors, all with vast content that is still substantial enough to play for dozens of hours. And as long as you are addicted to online confrontations, Tekken 8 really has something to satisfy and challenge you for a very, very long time! The whole is also served by an absolutely magnificent production which immediately immerses you in extremely aggressive and intense battles.
-
Jan 23, 2024Tekken 8 improves on its predecessor with a complete graphics overhaul, drastically improved netcode, and a robust base game package featuring 32 characters and 16 stages. With DLC fighters already in the pipeline, there’s more than enough content to keep fighting game fans packing punches for the foreseeable future.
-
Jan 23, 2024Featuring cutting-edge visuals for fighting games and exceptional learning tools, Tekken 8 stands out as one of the best releases in the fighting game genre over the last few years. While the netcode is generally acceptable, regrettably, it falls short of replicating the seamless offline experience. This drawback significantly affects the overall experience, way more than the limited amount of single player content, and somewhat diminishes the effectiveness of the game's outstanding learning tools, particularly for those unable to engage in offline multiplayer matches.
-
Jan 23, 2024The best Tekken game in years, let down only by its struggling netcode and aged customisation.
-
Jan 23, 2024Tekken 8 is a more than generous game, and a wonderful love letter to lovers of the license. It's a shame that its story mode is too redundant in terms of gameplay, and that its solo modes are a little less interesting than those of some of its rivals, because it would otherwise have been the best fighting game released recently without any possible dispute. The heart of the game will really be to fight with other players, the other modes being rather limited and relatively short. If the balancing follows, Tekken 8 will also be very interesting on a competitive level, even more so than Tekken 7.
-
Game World Navigator MagazineApr 23, 2024Even if you’re not a fan of the online competitive scene, Tekken 8 has a lot of content to offer: assisted mode that is great for parties, a story campaign, and an absolutely fantastic Arcade mode that features its own story and unobtrusively helps you become a better player. [Issue#263, p.36]
-
Jan 23, 2024Fantastic gameplay, plenty of game modes, and a substantial roster of playable characters are the main strengths of Tekken 8. The evolution is more on the cautious side, and the story mode could use some refinement. However, in the competition with last year's giants, Bandai Namco has nothing to be ashamed of.
-
Feb 1, 2024The most accessible, most extensive and currently simply the best fighting game on consoles - the PC version noticeably lags behind online.

Jan 23, 2024My point is: YOUR favourites are probably still here. And if they are, you'll be content to kick and/or punch. There isn't anything revolutionary happening aside from the Heat meter and all that it entails. But a lot of the quality of life improvements and subtle design tweaks stack up. Practice mode alone has become an excellently robust training zone that clearly displays a lot of handy info about frame advantage and move properties. For pros, streamers and rank-chasers, the transfer to this sequel is therefore a no-brainer. And since little else quite like Tekken exists in the fighting game niche (don't listen, little Soul Calibur 3) the rest of us pugilistic rubes will only get FOMO if we don't follow. So when I face Death, I guess Tekken 8 it is.
