May 20, 2020The graphics were beautiful for the time and the atmosphere was special. The lack of momentum of the story and the lack of closure do drag it down.

Sep 8, 2020It's hard to play Syberia in 2020. The game looks and plays fine, but the endless backtracking slows the game to an absolute crawl. Every time it became apparent that I was going to have to retrace my steps through about 10 or so scenes to get an item or initiate a conversation, my will to continue waned. I played through it when it was new, but now, 18 years later, I just can't.

Jul 12, 2022This game has a unique, surrealistic style that makes it memorable. Unfortunately, as a puzzle game, I occasionally got stuck and had to look for a hint online to proceed. If you play this game, use your video card’s control panel to force the highest quality anti-aliasing to smooth out the image and prevent it from looking all pixelated.

Sep 3, 2022The game has aged badly, if we take the gameplay and graphics into consideration, but the story kept me hooked from start to finish. It hadn't happened to me for years.
The puzzles are hard in the right place.
There were games with such a story nowadays.
I look forward to a Remake, if there ever will be one. -

It is really hard for a run-of-the-mill writer like me to do justice to Syberia in describing it. Ultimately all I can tell you is this: Play it yourself! It is not likely you will be disappointed.
-
Plot issues, questionable voice acting and a frustrating control scheme mask an otherwise good adventure title.
