TL:DR I'm really liking this game. The story is compelling, the puzzles are creative, and it just gives me that same feeling that the previous Syberia games gave me.

So, I've probably played a good chunk of this game now. I had my expectations set low, as I didn't really know how this game would turn out. Before playing it, I thought it would be another tacked-on sequel, with no new

So, I've probably played a good chunk of this game now. I had my expectations set low, as I didn't really know how this game would turn out. Before playing it, I thought it would be another tacked-on sequel, with no new ideas or personality.

    I was pleasantly surprised.

The game follows Kate Walker, after being ditched by Voralburg. She's on the run after not returning the contract for the Voralburg factory, with accusations of embezzlement. However, she has the Yukals on her side on her journey.

About controls: they have changed since the first game. Don't get me wrong: this is still a point-&-click, but movement is controlled using the arrow keys. I guess you could say it's slightly clunky, but it works.

I personally think that the graphics are quite nice, however, that could be subjective. Some parts definitely look better than others, and I actually prefer the in-engine cutscenes to the pre-rendered ones. The graphics aren't any different to the trailers, so you can probably make judgement based on that.

Puzzles and story is where this game really shines. The story does a great job at continuing the adventure: and adventure there is. I've already experienced some plot-twists I've never saw coming, and I feel that the pacing is quite good. The puzzles are similar to the previous games, if not slightly easier (which is welcome to me, as I found the previous games pretty difficult).

The only criticism I would say is at the beginning, the game sets you down a narrow path. If you find an item, sometimes you cannot get it until someone points it out to you. This is pretty frustrating.

Overall though, this game feels like a Syberia game, and gets the tone right. A couple of technical issues are there, but they have not made me enjoy this game any less.

A game that is strong on character and story, demanding that in order to progress, you solve problems rather than shoot or blow things up, Syberia 3 is the best game in the Syberia series. This game has me hooked and for the 20 to 30 hours I'll be playing my way through it, it really takes the place of movies and novels. It has a presentation similar to movies but a length and depth more akin to a novel. Highly recommended. Expand

This game is great, remember is not hand drawn and not with computer. The lips are similar if they are put in French
It is also a beautiful gem between all the violent games of today, you are drawn into a magical world whats rare this day

All right, all right, graphics are a little old school, a few bugs here and there but hey, all this is largely balanced by a great story, a fantastic ennvironment, smart puzzles and a smart woman. At least, thanks to Katte, we can live an adventure without blasting half of the planet!!

I have now played Syberia III for a couple of days and I like it very much indeed. Whether or not this is because of pure nostalgia or that I like the game as it is I don´t know... but I like it.

The game isn´t very good technically but it is what it is (very old school) and above all the music and characters and storyline are just great. I am also pleased that the puzzles are not too

After few hours, I can say that this game is a surprise! Story and music are wonderful. It's the second game whose I'm not used to play that surprise me since Life is Stange.

Game does not deserve a 10 but neither a 0. So it would balance...Love the music, history is fine. Hopefully I have a good PC to have it run...

I read a lot of negative review because of bugs. I'm lucky I just finished the game and have no problem (I play on PC). Story, immersion, characters, music, all I want to find with this type of game is here! I don't give the maximum score because of the animations which can be really poor and the end. But they will probably make Syberia 4 or a DLC so it's ok :)

I love it! I played the point-and-click version of the game. I love the cities and how the camera change the perspective as you walk. I love the atmosphere. Very artistic surroundings. Or that the background changes when you move/remove objects or destroy things or open/close doors etc. I like that you can see your character from close up. I like the story and the plot. It is so interesting at all times. There are some things going on that you cannot predict! From diving to traveling on board or moving inside an abandoned subway station. Amazing! The carousel city seems a rotting hell - gives you the shivers. So perfectly creepy. The Youkols are crazy! The game is magnificent. Artistic. Epic.

I am really glad that Syberia 3 actually happened. I played the game after the release of patches. It is so nice to see that the attempt to go from 2D from the previous games to 3D gave this interesting outcome. You actually feel you can explore this world.

    Looking forward for Syberia 4!

Remember how most 2D adventure classics failed miserably when they decided to move to 3D during the mid-2000s? Well, this is similar to what happened with Syberia 3, only that it was 2017. Despite the technical issues, the game got me pretty hooked and I almost finished it in one sitting. For me this is enough to compensate for any drawbacks.

Despite the technical issues, the game got me pretty hooked and I almost finished it in one sitting. For me this is enough to compensate for any drawbacks.

    Highlights:
    • Overall, the journey is really enjoyable.
    • The Syberia atmosphere is still there. The music is great.
    • They kept the original voice actress for Kate Walker.
    • Some funny moments can be found throughout the story.
    • Solving puzzles is rewarding (a tip from me: when stuck, usually you can find most clues in the same room, just remember you can also move the camera around).

    Lowlights:
    • I'm the type of gamer that likes to explore everything, talk to everyone, see every corner of the map. However, here I preferred to just stay on the objective due to the cumbersome controls. Sluggish movement, difficulties using the stairs and sometimes small invisible walls are getting in your way. Camera is bugged in certain places. My suggestion is to try both K&M and Gamepad and see what works best for you. Personally, I preferred K&M.
    • There was one puzzle where I got stuck and after minutes trying to figure it out, I finally looked it up online and turned out I was doing the right thing. It was just the cumbersome controls preventing me from doing it smoothly.
    • Mouse cursor randomly disappears and you have to move it around until you hit an interaction point so that it reappears. Moving your gamepad joystick can also help bring back the cursor.
    • No manual save option. There is only auto-save and you can't go back to previous chapters to hunt for achievements.
    • This game was initially planned to be released in 2010 instead of 2017. Some graphic elements are not even up to 2010 standards though, apart from character models which are good.
    • There are some cutscenes which are just pre-rendered gameplay. It doesn't look any better than the actual gameplay, there are no advanced animations or graphics; it even looks worse actually, as it is rendered at low bitrate. Some cutscenes are nice though.
    • The motivation of the bad guy doesn't seem realistic. The story could have been better without him.
    • Voice acting is hit or miss. There are side characters with good voice acting and then there are characters whose voice doesn't even fit their appearance e.g. grandpa sounding like he's in his 20s.
    • Really bad lip sync and facial animations. At times, you may stumble upon a decent facial animation here and there, a smile, a frown, a smirk etc.
    • Minor audio glitches.
    • Some inconsistent subtitles.

I'm sorry that Syberia got to the end like this, and it's probably my last memory of this game. Unfortunately, this Kate's adventure is not worth playing, even if it was in a discount. [Issue#275]

Somewhere under all that technical and gameplay-related mess you can catch a glimpse of good old Syberia, but overall the game is so poor that as a fan of the series it made me want to hurt myself. [06/2017, p.52]
