    This would be a truly great game if the completely crazy Paradox designers would not have put in a game-breaking event. Don't want to post any spoilers but DO NOT interact with the sphere once you find it. It will trigger a chain reaction of events that will completely destroy your game UNLESS you are SPECIFICALLY prepared for it. I spent 10+ hours on a great terraforming colony and thenThis would be a truly great game if the completely crazy Paradox designers would not have put in a game-breaking event.     A solid expansion for a great game. I don't think that Green Planet does anything particularly amazing, but it's a fun addition to the base game. I wish that it felt like there was more of a point to the transforming mechanics, but they are still fun to use and work well within the overall game structure.

    PS: The other use review on here mentions a "game breaking" sphere. This is one of many "crisis" events that happen in the game (you get one crisis, randomly selected from a list per game). You can turn these off or pick a specific one if you don't like them very much. I do think the sphere crisis can be particularly punishing, but it is beatable if you are an experienced player.    … Expand

    Green Planet provides an end game and sense of conclusion to Surviving Mars, offering up enough challenge and new content to keep those already interested on the hook and perhaps even provoke some fence sitters to reach into their pockets and pay up for a ticket to a potential future.

    The slowness of the growth and the beauty of the end result, and the intervening moments, make Green Planet a wonderful game to unwind and relax. But the challenge means you’ll also be engaged. It would have been easy to add a few new projects to the research track and call it a day, but the terraforming is so integrated into the existing game, you’ll constantly find yourself marveling at the design. But the real selling point are the wonderfully applied graphics. It’s a testament to what a different the look of a game can make, and how it can enhance the gameplay.
