    I remember this on my Amiga...
    It was a fun distraction then and it's a fun distraction now...
    It won't win awards for graphics controls originality...
    But what it will do is transport you back twenty years when games were simple and fun and brightly coloured...
    Worth it just for that nostalgia

    Supposedly this is an old game that has been remastered. I guess they only remastered the graphics but not the gameplay. The controls are very choppy. Not to say you can't land where you want, it just seems to be on or off, stopped or running, no fine tuning which is pretty much a requirement today.

    I bet you're thinking that this game looks pretty damn terrible, aren't you? Well I'm here to tell you that this game is not terrible. In fact, this game is actually quite enjoyable. Okay, now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'm not really sure why I enjoyed playing this game as much as I did. It's very similar to 'Sonic the Hedgehog', a series I am not that fond of, but with muchI bet you're thinking that this game looks pretty damn terrible, aren't you? Well I'm here to tell you that this game is not terrible. In fact, this game is actually quite enjoyable. Okay, now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'm not really sure why I enjoyed playing this game as much as I did. It's very similar to 'Sonic the Hedgehog', a series I am not that fond of, but with much more to offer, at least in my mind.

    There's just something about collecting items in this game that feels therapeutic. Is something bothering you? Forget wasting hundreds, even thousands of dollars talking to some lady that makes you lay down when you do so, and simply run around a few levels of 'Superfrog HD' collecting the bananas and coins. It's a lot cheaper and just as effective, I promise. That's right, in only a few short minutes you'll watch all of your troubles and worries melt away as you jump up and down, left to right, side to side; collecting that delicious fruit; ahhhhhh, I feel like I'm floating on a soft cloud already.

    All jokes aside though, 'Superfrog HD' looks wonderful and the music isn't half bad either. The levels are long and well designed, and even though the game looks incredibly easy, some of the maps will definitely get on your last nerve as you try and maneuver your way through them. I assume a lot of people still enjoy this game for nostalgic reasons, even though some say that it's boring, but even if you weren't a fan of the original, this game can definitely still be entertaining.    … Expand

    As a traditional 2D platformer devoid of any twists and nuance Superfrog HD fails to attract those who played the original game back in 1993. [12/2013, p.69]

    Superfrog HD becomes exemplary. It's an old game but with the new stuff. If only everyone makes game remakes like this one…

    As a big fan of the developer, I’m sorry to say that if you’re not feeling nostalgic of the original, stay away from Superfrog HD. It isn’t good, but worst of all, it’s not fun.
