Even if you aren't a big fan of the instantly respawning enemies, the gameplay in Super Rad Raygun hits enough of the classic beats to make it a dead ringer for some of the titles from decades ago. The battery-swapping mechanic gives the game a little depth. The Game Boy-inspired graphical style is cute, and the rest of the presentation is absolutely solid. Super Rad Raygun is a title that's worth checking out, especially if you're a big fan of retro-style games.

The story of this game is that a former scientist turned robot named RAD RAYGUN! (yes, I know it's lame) Has been reactivated to stop the Soviets in the year 198x. While the story isn't the best in the world, the game makes up for it. The game is fun, the controls are great, the level design is solid, and the soundtrack for the game is killer. Though let me advise you, if you want the soundtrack, you need to pay five more bucks for the soundtrack, unless you got it during its launch week. Overall, the game is a solid throwback that desires a purchase if you into these kinds of games, and if you hate platformers, then why are you looking into getting this game? Full Review »
