May 18, 2025I really enjoyed playing Sunderfolk, and I would love to go through a second time with a larger group and different characters. Though honestly, I’d also be equally happy to go again with the same avatar (I love my Pyromancer) and make different choices. It’s a lot of fun, and the nature of its additional objectives, varying missions between the campaign quests, and possible party compositions means it is the type of title that could be worth replaying with different folks or on varying difficulties. Sunderfolk works quite well and I’d recommend a it for a series of game nights.

May 14, 2025Sunderfolk is a good start to introduce beginners to the world of tabletop games without a complex set of rules and a lot of setup. The controls via app are technically well done, while at the same time the gameplay is challenging enough to allow the player to spend hours and hours in the world of Arden.

Jun 4, 2025A highly enjoyable and entertaining multiplayer game that I would strongly recommend to fans of turn-based strategy and tabletop RPGs. Unfortunately, it doesn't have enough features for me to recommend it to those who don't already enjoy the genre.

Apr 18, 2025Its own story is indeed almost negligible, but Sunderfolk shines in its ability to be a catalyst or stage for self-generated stories and connections between you and your fellow players that will resonate even outside of the game. In this way, the devs at Secret Door truly succeeded in creating a digital, more approachable version of the TTRPGs we all love, even if it’s one with room to improve. I’m very excited to see where they can push this concept in the future.

Apr 18, 2025It’s been hard to be overly critical of a game that has all but forced me to log off and talk to friends for a couple hours each week. The downsides of Sunderfolk have mostly been the same as those of playing any tabletop game with humans: waiting, expertise imbalance, distraction, and someone’s dog needing attention...Beyond that, I think Sunderfolk is a success at what it set out to do: Put the cardboard, cards, and dice on the screen and make it easier for everyone to show up. It won’t replace the traditional game night, but it might bring more people into it and remind people like me why it’s so good.

Apr 18, 2025For a group that likes to play tabletop games together but wants a digital option, especially for remote friends, Sunderfolk should suit their needs. It’s a story of good and evil, filled with fantasy and animals and magic, and ready-made to take a crew through some haphazard adventures. Hopefully it’s not the last time we see these kinds of swings at it, either.
