While there are the occasional small flaws here and there, Sumerian Six is easily one of the best stealth games I’ve played. It’s easy to fall into a trap of making your stealth too easy or too frustrating, but generous player tools and the puzzle-like encounters help it ride that fine line to perfection. While I’m aware stealth games aren’t for everyone, and tactical stealth is a niche of a niche, if any of this appealed to you, Sumerian Six makes a great entry into the genre.

Artificer impresses once again in the strategy genre with Sumerian Six. Expect a challenging game with unique characters and a story that blends history with folklore. The beginning can be frustrating, but after the learning phase you are rewarded with well-designed levels where you can use clever strategies.

The standard of quality for the modern era of stealth strategy games is very, very high. Sumerian Six is not at the front of the class, but it’s still a great entry, and a highlight of 2024. I spent more than 30 hours dispatching fascists with the Enigma Squad, still have two levels to go, will absolutely finish them and someday return for another run. Stealth strategy, when done right, is just that good, and Sumerian Six is absolutely done right. Bravo, Artificer. Sequel please.

Sumerian Six almost perfectly emulates the games from Mimimi, offering a satisfying covert strategy experience that involves weaving through patrols, dissolving bodies, and scaring Nazis to death.

Daring missions with all odds stacked against us, that’s the exciting essence of Sumerian Six. The deveolper Artificer is not quite yet at the level of quality Mimimi Games got us used to, but I can already see a lot of good in this game.

Sumerian Six is a passionate and well-crafted homage to classic stealth tactics games, enriched by a fascinating fusion of mad science and the paranormal. Artificer's title manages to capture the essence of the pioneers of the genre, with the unique abilities of the characters and the variety of the missions that contribute to enriching the gameplay, which is engaging but not without some rough edges. While Sumerian Six performs well from a visual point of view, thanks to a distinctive graphic style, the plot and characterization of the characters would have benefited from greater depth. Overall, we are talking about a stimulating strategic adventure capable of offering surprises.

This game is like an oasis for someone who likes real-time tactical strategy. I hope Artificer will continue to carry this flag that he took over from Mimimi for a long time.

Mimimi Games might be gone, but their legacy lives on: Sumerian Six is a finely crafted stealth tactics game that every fan of Commandos or Shadow Tactics will enjoy.

That creative freedom and the tools Artificer gives you to work with make it easy to deal with Sumerian Six’s rockier moments and, frankly blatant imitation of games that came before. The team clearly has a strong understanding of how to make the most of the genre's basic tools, and here is where I'd normally say I hope to see even better things from them in the future. With Devolver having laid off half of Artificer's staff earlier in 2024, though, the studio's future seems unclear.

A high-quality real-time tactics stealth title, Sumerian Six is full of intricate missions and wonderfully unique scientific abilities for you to unleash upon those pesky Nazis. Artificer have taken the torch from Mimimi Games and are running with it, and I’m so glad they are.

Sumerian Six will more than suffice in filling the tactics-shaped hole you may have in your heart. Though its story isn’t all there and it’s far from original, it’s made up for with an electric cast with devastating and creative abilities. This sandbox nature of killing in inventive ways is only bolstered by intricate and smart level design that allows for many a cool Nazi-slaying moment. Artificer have pulled off the difficult mission of replicating the giants that came before them while showcasing enough of their own creative juices. Job well done.

While Sumerian Six does require active engagement, and you will need to work towards conquering each level with patience, it presents rewarding reasons for doing so. There is a balance of challenge here, and one that’s matched by the elation of moving forward, unlocking new skills, perfecting your timing, and finally defeating those magical Nazis. It may tread familiar ground, but Sumerian Six explores fresh territory with every twist, for a game that is moreish and clever at every turn.

With the downfall of Mimimi Games, I feared that the real-time genre was all but lost. Its still a crying shame that their final game, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew didn’t get more attention because it had a fantastic story and excellent gameplay. But the developer may be gone but their legacy is strong with Artificer games; Sumerian Six is a triumph in the genre with its immensely replayable levels, forgiving stealth approach and its quirky characters. Artificer has crafted an enjoyable game that blends the occult and science in an interesting story AND lets you knock out some nazis, what’s not to love here?

A colorful, bizarre, uchronic stealth game where combining the formidable skills of the Enigma Squad in real time is more satisfying than operating from the shadows.

Sumerian Six is a wonderfully weird blend of Nazi Germany and ancient Sumeria. Its characters are unique, if a little underbaked, and its gameplay rewards strategic thinking well. Its skills are a little much - and the AI is not enough - but it's a decent entry in the stealth-strategy genre.

Sumerian Six is clearly going to excite that contingent of weird and wonderful people who love to solve puzzles in a murder-y way. The aesthetic on offer, combined with the fun and fanciful tale of the Engima Squad meeting up and working together to take down a magical Nazi warlord, is plenty to grab you and hold tight. Just keep a pocketful of patience for any silly shit that happens while you’re save scumming your way to victory.
