For those not interested high-level competitive play just yet – those who want to watch a fun anime-style story while mashing some buttons, or at most learning the characters’ special moves for a gaming night with his or her friends at home – there’s no point picking this up at least until March. At that time SFV might very well be a casual-friendly game with all the tools to teach you the fundamentals needed to unlock the most rewarding levels of play.
  2. When played locally with others or when the netcode is as good as it can be, Street Fighter V is an astonishingly good fighting game. Simplified without being dumbed down, deep without being utterly impenetrable, it’s as good as the series has ever been. I’m glad that there’s no need for a number at the bottom of this review because how do you score this game? In many ways, it’s the perfect fighting game, an easy 10, but it is woefully lacking in some areas. Waiting for content to be added to the game sucks, but what’s a month when you could be playing this for many, many years to come.

In truth, Street Fighter V is a lonely and impersonal game. You can’t chat with your opponents, nor can you request a rematch once the initial fight is done. All you can do is take a deep breath and charge back into the endless horde of faceless opponents. We’re all Ryu, standing alone under a waterfall, silently uppercutting at the pounding deluge in search of enlightenment. The answer, as always, lies in the heart of battle.

I bought this game knowing full well it lacks many features, but I at least expected the game to be functional on a basic level. You can consider yourself lucky if you can even log in to the servers within 5 minutes of launching the game, but don't rejoice too soon because if your experience is anything like mine, you won't be able to find a match anyway and this piece of ♥♥♥♥ will graciously kick you out after a couple of minutes anyway.

This trash belongs in early access - not marketed on the front page as a finished game sold at full price.
