-
Yet another indie game that totally blows away what the faceless corporations put out.
-
CNET GamecenterPerhaps the best modern tank simulator on the market.
-
PC GamerThis is the best tank simulation you can buy, and maybe the best one ever. [Dec 2000, p.170]
-
Yes, there's a fairly steep learning curve, and yes, accelerated simulations such as "M1 Tank Platoon II" might look a smidgen better, but those are minor quibbles. If you like tank simulations, or have ever thought you might like tank simulations, this is the game for you.
-
It combines both simulation and wargaming elements to produce a superb gaming experience.
-
Steel Beasts is fun, deep and challenging, everything a good simulation should be. That it was developed, in large part, by a single person in their spare time should be a lesson to the rest of the industry. It won't, but it should be.
-
A no-frills tank sim that has a very solid base but not a great deal in terms of extras or window-dressing. Tank sim fans will find this a pleasing and detailed addition to their collection but anyone who is looking for the latest graphics, frantic shooting or options by the bucketload will not find them here.
-
If you're up to its challenges, Steel Beasts offers an accurate, involving, and rewarding simulation of modern tank warfare.
-
My biggest complaint with SB is that there is no sort of story line to go with the game.
-
The hardcore fan will be rewarded after investing plenty of time exploring the depths of the simulation, which makes it a worthwhile endeavor. Outflanking the enemy and unleashing a devastating shelling barrage has rarely been this enjoyable.
-
The best simulation of modern tank (and maybe just tank, period) operations ever.
-
No 3d acceleration, but the mission editor gives unlimited amounts of gameplay for both novices and experts alike.
-
Though Steel Beasts sets new standards as a multiplayer tank sim, it is specifically focused on that area to the exclusion of all others.
