Breakdown is a DLC(downloadable content) for the game State of Decay. Content is somewhat of a misnomer. It might mean more story or background, that is: in the sense of quality content, but in the case of Breakdown that is certainly not the case. The DLC does not add any story elements. Content is somewhat of a misnomer. It might mean more story or background, that is: in the sense of quality content, but in the case of Breakdown that is certainly not the case. The DLC does not add any story elements. In fact it does the opposite: it strips away all the content that was already there.. What it does is allowing you to replay the game on the same map with respawned resources and a select group of survivors that you can take with you a s you move from one map to the next. And that is about it. There is no need to take into account the few extra equipment and mission types.

The main drive for this DLC is the pursuit of achievements. These achievements are related to level(in essence the level equals the amount of maps you have done). There are things like: kill fifty zombies with machine guns on level three or higher or kill five zombies of a certain type starting level six. Or build all improvements for your base. Or discover all technologies.

To give you a challenge the game gets overall harder to play when you rise in level until it tops off at level six or so. The basic zombies get more dangerous and there are more of them, but the most noticeable is the rise in the amounts of special zombies, 'freaks' as the game calls them. In addition the cars get sparser until you will only find a few. It is also said that there are less resources to go around, although I didn't notice that as such.

There is little else to say. The gameplay is the same as for the original game and there is no storyline whatsoever. You can't combine this DLC with the original game, nor do items from the DLC appear in the original game. So there is no crossover between the DLC and the original game.

Due to that fact that the original map is in no way changed you will find yourself limited to a few options. In fact, after a while you are doing the same routine over and over until you get bored with the repetition. Perhaps the biggest challenge is not the achievements but how long you will last before getting so bored that you quit with disgust..I lasted to like level ten or so.. mostly because I was mistaken in the fact that the game would end at level ten.

All in all Breakdown is nothing to write home about. Probably the greatest disappointment is that it adds nothing to the base game, which it certainly requires as the base game itself delivers just about enough to make the game interesting but nothing more. It is a bone that is thrown at the dog so it has something to chew on. Perhaps dog is not the proper word : it is a bone thrown at a zombie so it has something to chew on, until the real meat arrives in the shape of the MMO.

Not that I have any interest in playing the MMO. I played a few MMOs and that cured me from that desire. Who in his right mind is going to pay like fifteen to thirty dollars a month for something that at best is worth 60 dollars in total and for the pleasure of playing with people who have yet to learn what cooperation, tolerance or civility means.

A mi me encanto State of Decay, pero este DLC no añade nada interesante.

A mi me encanto State of Decay, pero este DLC no añade nada interesante.

It brings absolutely nothing new to the existing release besides a slightly updated loot system, but adds a genuinely compulsive survival mode for those who want to play out their zombie apocalypse fantasies without constant calls for help and a mountain of busy-work to get through.

What the people want doesn’t always have to be a revolution. State of Decay: Breakdown is a full sandbox mode for the main game, carefully designed to incorporate the original's strengths in scavenging and player-created character arcs.

There’s no game like State of Decay for dropping you into a zombie apocalypse, and now there’s no survival game quite like Breakdown’s score-based challenge with its inevitable failure bearing down on you. it’s all futile, but what a grim drama you’ll unfold on the way to your demise.
