Like "Starfleet Command," an untilmatey rewarding game that may demand a bit too much patience. [Mar 2001, p.70]
  2. If you can ignore the bugs, the SFC V2 is one of the best games released in the past little while. However, in reality it isn't possible to ignore bugs in a game so my advice is buyer beware.
  3. Clearly not ready for prime time. Abundant bugs, unbalanced campaign prestige, and a non-functional multiplayer campaign all mar an otherwise classic game.

An incredibly deep and versatile tactical battle simulator, which is fun at first, but not complete enough to provide a compelling long-term play experience.

It's terribly challenging and terribly addicting, although its longevity can certainly be questioned due to the design of the campaign game.
  6. The game is worth the attention of Trekkies, due in part to the fact that the multiplayer action quite simply kicks alien ass. When two players of relatively equal skill go at each other, each carefully bringing their ship's unique abilities to bear, each misering the last nanojoule of energy for best effect, the experience is unparalleled...and oddly, very faithful to the tense, armrest-gripping feel of a Star Trek duel.
  7. A game with so much potential and so many great ideas, but, despite being a sequel, it doesn't have the polish necessary to deliver a compelling game.
