    The best game I've ever played, multiplayer is the best. Using the saber alone without force powers is tough enough I've been playing the game now for five years a half hour a night (recently) and it still has me hooked. Someday I hope they make an mmo with sword technique.

Duels with other lightsaber wielding force users can be challenging and exciting, as well as fun to watch (brief 360 slow mo scenes of finishing moves are not uncommon).     This game is awesome. I'm a Star Wars fan and anyone who has ever dreamed of being a Jedi and using a lightsaber and force powers to slice and dice your enemies this game is for you. It is very fun to play and the interface is perfect. Although technically it is a first person shooter game, you really can forget your guns and just go through the game with your lightsaber and force This game is awesome. Since this is the only game in the Jedi Knight/Dark Forces series that I have played I can't comment on how it relates to those games; however, this game really stands well on its own. Some also might comment on the fact that it is based on the somewhat dated Quake III engine, but I still think it looks and plays great and come on in the middle of the all that action who really has time to closely examine his surroundings. Plus, since I have an older machine (a PIII 1.2 Ghz and a Geforce 2 MX) I appreciate that there are games that can still run on it. The only negative that I can think of, is that I wish it were longer. A few more missions would be nice. Highly recommended!… Expand

    Very good! I actually didn't care for Jedi Outcast, mostly because of the level design. This game is more polished and fun, and the majority of levels aren't a chore. Great game!

    My favorite game of all time (And I've tried a hell of a lot of them) Siege gametype in multiplayer is one of the most unique gameplay experiences I have ever had (mostly due to the inclusion of lightsaber combat)

However, when you switch to your lightsaber, the game becomes much more like the ultimate Jedi experience. What's even better about this game is that it has the ability for your character to wield two lightsabers, or even a dual lightsaber (like Darth Maul's lightsaber from Star Wars Episode I). There are several iconic force powers in this game such as force push and lightning, as well as ones unique to this game such as drain and protect. All of this, along with dueling with Sith, battling enemy troopers, and platforming through the environments using force jumps, makes you really feel like a Jedi as you are playing this game. The graphics of this game are also quite good. They don't quite meet today's graphical standards, however, they are still good enough for a game released at this time. Everything in this game looks just the way it should in the Star Wars universe. The story, although good, is probably the low point of the game. While the story is pretty good (it's about the Sith once again trying to take over the galaxy, this time by resurrecting a Sith master), at the same time, it is way too short, and there is nothing to do in the main game once you're finished with it, unlike Just Cause 2. The reasoning for this is that the level design is a little shoddy. Some levels you can complete in just minutes, while others take a few hours just to complete. Plus, this game's difficulty is no where near as difficult as its prequel Jedi Outcast. It often took me several minutes to figure out the way out of a room in Jedi Outcast, while here, it only took seconds (just press this totally obvious switch that we did not so carefully hide, and you can move on). Moving on, this game also has terrible A.I. The enemy troops will often just shoot at you the moment they see you, and not move to cover at any time. The enemy also runs away when it feels overwhelmed, and then when it's far enough away, it will proceed to keep shooting. When it's not doing that, the enemy will just stand there and keep shooting. The only different kind of A.I. from the normal troopers is the Sith and heavy troopers. However these guys are just as bad as the troopers. The Sith often "accidentally" jump in a bottomless pit, and the heavy troopers, though stronger than normal troopers, still have pretty much the same A.I. Despite these flaws, the game is still quite excellent. I forgot to mention the sound. The sound is everything you could want from a Star Wars game. It has the right lightsaber, blaster, and environmental sound effects, as well as John William's score. Overall, I give this game a 9 out of 10. It may have many flaws, however, many of them are easily overlooked. The A.I. is the only one that I could not overlook.… Expand

It had an amazing campaign(even if the AI is sometimes stupid) and an awesome multi-player that should be an example of what online jedi battles should be; fun! The customization is fantastic as well.(for the time at least.) And, to be honest, had better controls than the force unleashed. Dark Forces was a fun shooter, Jedi Knight was a revelation and Jedi Outcast was an exercise in near-perfection. Jedi Academy retains the same rock-solid lightsaber and Force power game mechanic of Outcast and enough enhancements toJedi Academy is a serviceable sequel to Jedi Outcast but unlike the previous entries in the series it does not represent a quantum leap forward in quality. Most notable is the ability to customize your character and lightsaber as well as adding the option to wield two lightsabers or the infamous Darth Maul dual lightsaber. The story is not quite as interesting and the experience as a whole is not nearly as absorbing and immersive as the previous entry. If you are a fan of the series or Star Wars in general I would definitely recommend this title. If you're only going to buy one Dark Forces/Jedi Knight game however, I'd go for Jedi Outcast.… Expand

    Very good game, that have a lot fo known Star Wars elements and shows the world after Episode 6. There is a great texture mod, that help this game visually.
    There are some weaknesses in gameplay: playing with guns is not weak and controlling is bad. for example, but overall surely worth to play it.

    This game has the best lightsaber dueling to date and it´s simple RPG elements, Character customization and awesome environments make it one of the best Star Wars games to date and my personal favorite game of all time.

    Really good engine. Great multiplayer. Great singleplayer. And has some good mods like Knights of the Force and Movie Duels. Though, I still think the highlight of this game is the engine. While old, it really suits the game perfectly.

    They improoved the Single player, but the Multiplayer felt weak, they should have stayed with the Multiplayer from Jediknight 2 jedi outcast.
    This game deserve a 4th game thou....

    I am 22 years old, only played this master piece a few months ago. I always thought that the old games were so great because I was a child and was impressed by anything really. But playing JKJA recenly just showed me I was wrong by a far cry: This is a great game, and they just don't make them like this anymore.

But has a very nice story, very well placed in Star Wars universe, and like many other things on the Star Wars universe, the old, is better.

    This is a great game you can play for hours if you simply love light sabres. I passed on the sp part and went right for multiplayer and was happily slicing and slashing in free for all deathmatch servers. Use one lightsabre or two, customize your character and saber all you want and spend hours figuring out new moves and combos.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I appreciate Lucasart's attempt to make a legitimate Star Wars FPS/TPS, but they just missed it with this game. At first this game is OK, having you go on a lazily planned set path, killing a few bugs, and then spying on some sith. Most of the levels have no clear objective markers making the levels frustrating and leaving you wandering around trying to find your way. The graphics look cheesy and the voices aren't nearly as good as they should be. The multiplayer is the real reason this game managed a 2/10, the maps are decently sized and there are a variety of enemies to face and guns to use for pleasure. We don't know how long it will take Lucasart's to make a good Star Wars game, but when it does happen, it better be much better than this.… Expand

I also completely agree with PC Gamer's statement about the generic enemies. I didn't feel like I was fighting evil Jedi. It was more like fighting "Guy-With-Red-Saber #259". Jedi Academy feels more like an add-on to Jedi Outcast. The saber duels are frequent (MUCH more than in Outcast) and customized sabers are great. But this alone can't advocate a full-priced game.     Florian K is right, this is more of the same game as JK2, with a few gimmicks (Dual, Double Lighstabers) added to get your attention. I suppose if you are a fan of the series you might enjoy it, but for the most part it's just more of the same.

    I'll start with the most important thing: the combat system. At first, it seems difficult and beautiful, but soon it becomes clear that there are only a few animations in the arsenal, and battles with all the characters, except those who do not have a laser sword, turn into an easy walk, which gets boring after a few hours of play. Those opponents who can fight back can kill with one strike, or vice versa also fall, with one player’s strike, against the background of such a random, any tactics fade into the background, any battle with them turns into a rudimentary shouting.

    Graphics without any exaggeration is disgusting, I just do not believe that a game with so bad graphics could come out in one year with projects like GTA: vice city, KOTOR or Max Payne 2. In terms of graphics, this is 2000-2001 year.

    The protracted gameplay. At first, the game is fascinating and even tries to bring in a certain moment of diversity in the gameplay, for example, by entering a level with races (which, by the way, is so bad that it would not have been better). But after 2-3 hours this monotonous cutting of the dummy starts to bother, and after 5-6 hours you need to force yourself to continue to play it.

    And most importantly, for me personally, that dropped the assessment almost to the bottom. Disgusting, terrible, vile, wrong game design. Locations are monotonous, and many times you will be in a situation where it is unclear whether you are in a new location or you have been in this location in the past, due to the fact that the developers have stuck the same objects and copied them many times. The situation is aggravated by the fact that you constantly have to look for cards and pull different levers many times for each level, which, together with the above, makes you wander absolutely in every location. It's horrible. It is for this reason that I deleted this game, and did not pass it to the end, although it was almost 90%. Game design in the beginning and mid-2000s massively suffered this problem, but I have never seen such a poor performance, although I was an active player at that time. I am really amazed at how bad it is in this game.

    Bottom line: 2 out of 10. Score for the wonderful musical accompaniment from George Lucas' s paintings of the same name.    … Expand

    It's funny, but I actually liked this game much, much more than Jedi Outcast, namely because the level design isn't so mind-numbingly frustrating. This game isn't perfect and could use a few more levels, but for the most part it's a blast.

    Its a fun game with action packed hours of gameplay and its a awsome game if your a star wars fan. The only problem I thought was that it was very repetitive from the game Star Wars : Jedi Outcast. Other than that it was flawlessly a good game worth your money!

    This was a really good game, I haven't played Single Player yet, as I am currently playing other games, but the MP was awesome on this game! You can create your own character in Multilayer (MP) or choose from one of the default ones, or if you don't like those, you can download more for you game. An awesome game I love playing anytime I get the chance!

    Not quite as great as Jedi Outcast beacause well on Jedi Master the final confrontation with Tavion was one of the simplist things i have done. The thing that saves this game is the awesome multiplayer gameplay.

    Great game, has great RPG elements with a kick-ass lightsaber fight mechanics. Multiplayer was incredibly fun too, only criticism is that it lacked special features say for example if you beat the game in hard mode etc...

    This is probably one of my favorite PC games. I like the customizable sabers and the pulse gun is hilarious. If you haven't already done this trick, read on! The pulse gun is the one with the really wide barrel. Alright. So, when you go in a mission, find an enemy that doesn't see you. Take your pulse gun and tap the right mouse button to activate the zoom mode. Zoom in on your enemyThis is probably one of my favorite PC games. I like the customizable sabers and the pulse gun is hilarious. If you haven't already done this trick, read on! The pulse gun is the one with the really wide barrel. Alright. So, when you go in a mission, find an enemy that doesn't see you. Take your pulse gun and tap the right mouse button to activate the zoom mode. Zoom in on your enemy (preferably the head) hold down the left mouse button until your gun is fully charged. Then let go and watch as your helpless opponent disintegrates right in front of you. (But don't do it to much unless you have extra ammo on hand)… Expand

    Awesome game, singleplayer is cool and multiplayer is even better. Even tho they might get boring after hours of gameplay there's also a mod called Moviebattles II for more realistic battles and hooking gameplay. I still play it to this day.

    Awesome Star Wars game that has a storyline, but alot of variables in how to play throughout. Definitely has a Jedi feeling and playability. It is to Jedi emulation what X-Wing was to Space Combat. At this point the graphics are a bit dated, but it still holds up as a solid gaming experience.
    The only thing missing is the open sandbox like playability that is common in the best games today.

Although some may say that 2008s force unleashed has better lightsabercombat and powers, i think that game makes you feel more like Kratos with force powers than Jedi. This game just gets it right. In this game, you are and you feel like a true jedi. The campaign is great but multiplayer is just amazing. having lightsaber fights with friends or anyone is just something you cant feel in any other game. You can even challenge them to duels, which makes both you and your opponent invurnerable to other players. it seriously gets you addicted for hours. Even if the multiplayer dies some sad day, there are still bots to make the game live forever. Calling this game awesome is simply an understatement.

    The story continue from last part, with not so rich option to create yourself you can experience similiar places and situation from original SW trilogy, the gameplay stay same as in JK Outcast with few improvements. The story is maybe better in outcast but jedi academy have much better multiplayer.

    Great game, interesting story, I liked the fight mechanic, it was easy for me to handle. too bad it wasnt related to the movies, only by characters, but it was ok too.

    Playing this in 2022, 20 years after it's release, means a lot about the game.

    This game allow you to control a true Jedi with a good choice of powers and sword style . Using fire weapon is not a good way to have fun with this game cause the good experience wiith this is the use of the Jedi power and the sword.
    Its fun , its a pleasure to parry , jump , and use powers like a jedi .

    Wow, haven't played the PC version of this game in many years. Its pretty awesome I get to do so. It is an extremely fun game, however there are some things that could have been done better. The bot selection should save to what you previously set up, which was removed from Jedi Outcast, and there could have been an option to turn off lightsabers if you didn't want them on.     NOTHING will ever come close to being as cool as completing singleplayer and then going to multiplayer with all the duelists. Loading up the young emperor Palpatine clone model mod I downloaded for the last game* and DESTROYING literally everyone who came at me, in a 32 players a server, while looking twice    Lightsaber combat could have had more depth, but I still deeply love this game.

(*robed and disrobed versions! remember when games let you do this? Amazing.)

    I couldn't even believe it, I wasn't an accomplished duelist in the last game, JK2, but I distinctly remember thinking they were all 'reborn' to me... referring to the basic lightsaber enemy. The truth is, they were a lot easier!

    Something clicked with the double bladed saber for me, you could really mix it up with it, switching from super heavy combos and swings, to single bladed quick action. I was the big buck for a month before anyone was close to competition.

    Multiplayer was weird, but fun, at least up until everyone just started spamming the instakill double lightsaber spin. It basically created a sphere of one hit kill around them, no finesse at all, no controlling flip combos and spins into your enemy, trying to perfectly hit your enemy with the tip of the saber in their FACE, just press button for instant kill, ruined it when people figured out how do to that and everyone started it, four months after release.

    But being malicious to stormtroopers was pretty fun too. Loved the singleplayer. I would highly advise playing it for that, it can't be an expensive game now.

    This is from a time when LucasArts was royalty gaming and you could count on a Star Wars game.

    Es un juego mas fácil que Jedi Outcast y se agradece porque el otro llegaba a desesperar en ocasiones, pero tal vez el diseño de niveles de este juego es menos meritorio, los combates con la espada láser son incluso mejores en Academy, en cambio en la historia y personajes si que es inferior a Outcast.

    Truly the all time best Star Wars game. Force powers, Saber + wielding styles, choosable character, choosable ending. Tons of different enemies etc etc. Everyone should play this game at least once.

    (after completing the game several times)

    Fighting with a lightsaber gives a lot of satisfaction and lightning, choking and throwing others against the wall is something you can love.

    The plot is not particularly outstanding, but quite enjoyable. The decision we make has a significant impact on the end of the game

    Played this game again after a long time and I have to say it has aged well and I still had a lot of fun playing it. It's much better than Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.

    The main flaw of Jedi Outcast, in my opinion, was that sometimes, the player would be stuck desperately looking for the next part of the level. With overall shorter, but more numerous levels in Jedi Academy, I didn't face this problem once, and each and every level could be played with fluidity. Another welcome change is the shift from    Jedi Academy is like Jedi Outcast but even better.

With overall shorter, but more numerous levels in Jedi Academy, I didn't face this problem once, and each and every level could be played with fluidity.
    Another welcome change is the shift from an arsenal of a dozen of weapons to the limitation to 5 weapons per mission. This allows to put more emphasis on what the vast majority of players like: being a Jedi using mainly the lightsaber and the Force.

    Jedi Academy includes a (very minor) RPG component with the possibility to spend skill points in different skills, each belonging to a single side of the Force. I've not done the game a second time with a different combination but I assume your choice has consequences on the scenario. There is even a point in the game when you're explicitly asked to choose between the light and the dark side of the Force.

    For the rest, the game is still everything you'll like if you've ever dreamt of being a Jedi, with even more lightsaber fights against Siths, and even various missions a bit out of the ordinary, like speeder levels or hide-and-seek with giant monsters. You can even customise your lightsaber (appearance, colour of the laser, and style: single, double or two lightsabers) and that's thrilling.
    The scenario is quite useless and the game can feel a little repetitive for some players, but if you like lightsaber fights like I do, this is a real blast.

    Finally, Jedi Academy includes a brand new multiplayer mode where players can gather in arenas and engage into huge lightsaber fights. As a casual player, the multiplayer mode feels like a huge mess to me (as my skill is limited to a constant clickfest) but it feels great anyway. At the moment the multiplayer can even be played cross-platform with the Switch at least, but this is more of an accident that developers are trying to correct.

    Anyway, this game is cult, and an absolute must-have for every Jedi out there.    … Expand

    A classic with consistently amazing sword fighting mechanics. If one pursues the multiplayer (perhaps challenging in 2020 but there are a few servers still up), then it can promise hundreds of hours of content, with communities as tight knit as they were when I first played it in 2005.

    Although the story was shallow, the gameplay was very entertaining. You can feel nostalgic. It is a game you must play. I wish today's lightsabers war was like in this game.

    Jedi Academy is the best 3rd person melee game I've ever played period. Playing the multiplayer portion of the game gave me more hours of enjoyment than I can count. Literally as good as it gets.
