Star Trek: Resurgence is a brilliant game that successfully recaptures the spirit of the classic shows. The former Telltale developers, Dramatic Labs, effectively update the formula to bring variety and ensure that adventurers are consistently engrossed. If you are a Trekkie or have enjoyed games made by Telltale, definitely put this on your gaming to-do list.

Of all the possible stories to tell in the wide universe of Star Trek, Resurgence picks a good one. It takes place in the “present” of the story, and while it has some fun with cameos, it doesn’t overdo them. It presents a galaxy in a time of uneasy peace, and a diverse Federation crew. I would certainly recommend Resurgence to anyone who loves Star Trek. If you’re a curious non-Trekkie well, how much can you tolerate quick time events? Because by the ancients there are a lot of them. But this reviewer didn’t mind one bit.

Here's hoping Star Trek: Resurgence leads to more Star Trek video games. With such a rich history, the world of Star Trek has so much that could be explored. For a series based on exploration, Resurgence does not allow the player to explore much beyond the designated path of the story. With a story as good as this one, that hardly matters, but future Star Trek games may want to consider a different approach. If storytelling and characters like the ones in Resurgence were incorporated into an open-world Star Trek game, for example, it would likely have a much wider appeal. Still, the future for Star Trek gaming looks promising. Star Trek: Resurgence gets Star Trek, embracing the optimism and hope that sets the franchise apart, and celebrating humanity at its best.

The lack of accessibility options with regard to control and display customization also threatens to make Star Trek: Resurgence less inclusive than its Federation values would suggest. Nevertheless, these quibbles are things that I found relatively easy to overlook, considering how well the game channels qualities of Star Trek long absent from the franchise’s adaptations. I’d choose instead to hope Dramatic Labs addresses some of these concerns through patches and updates. Those like me, who are able to put aside those complaints, will find a thrilling and refreshing dose of Trek fan service, and perhaps the beginning of a special journey, in Star Trek: Resurgence.

Star Trek Resurgence feels like an episode of Star Trek, for better or worse. I feel like the character models should move more fluidly, react more naturally if I'm going to be staring at them so much. The game somehow has a way of railroading me while still leaving me uncertain of what it wants me to do. In the end, however, I found it fun. It's slow and deliberate, but that's what works for this franchise. I'm a Star Trek fan and this made me feel like I was part of the story. If you're not fan, this might not be the game for you, but if you wear pointy ears, know what the Picard Maneuver is, and speak conversational Klingon, give it a shot.

Star Trek: Resurgence is likely going to be a sleeper hit. Releasing in the middle of some of the most high-budget titles of the year, it still managed to captivate me with a memorable and exciting space adventure. In addition, it does more with its characters than other narrative adventures, with a complex dialogue system and excellent scenario writing. With that said, your only goal now is to do right by your crew and go where no man has gone before.

While non-Trekkies and puzzle lovers may find Star Trek: Resurgence less appealing, franchise fans looking to simply dive into another fine story in this expansive universe will not be disappointed.

Even though I'm not the biggest Star Trek fan, Resurgence did a great job of getting me interested in the world and lore.

Resurgence is the perfect mash-up of dramatic Star Trek storytelling and Telltale-style decision making, but with too many QTEs.

Star Trek: Resurgence has an interesting story with thought-provoking scenarios and two good protagonists. While it makes adequate use of the interactive-story genre, there was room to improve the choices and gameplay.

Interesting, open-ended conversations (a game, after all), discussions of the ins and outs of life, and spacewalks in familiar ships are a fantasy that really takes you right into the Star Trek universe. Although the game has some major technical issues at the moment, the game is definitely a real Star Trek game that is fun to play. If you want to immerse yourself in a brand new Star Trek storyline from the developers of Narrative Adventures, this is the game for you.

The story of Star Trek: Resurgence does an excellent job of capturing what makes Star Trek work by presenting strong characters and tough decisions. Some storylines lack closure and it doesn’t always run smoothly, but its heart is in the right place.

If you're a Star Trek fan looking for a game that respects the series enough to get the details right, then as a Vulcan might say, Resurgence is the most logical choice. It has an intriguing narrative that takes the risk of having two protagonists and plenty of difficult choices for you to make. However, some of the overcomplicated mini-games and melodramatic cutscenes mar the last third of the game. While Resurgence isn’t a technical marvel by any means, you don't need a lot of bells and whistles to tell a decent story. And I'm willing to settle for that.

Star Trek: Resurgence is possibly one of the more accurate games to have captured the Star Trek world in a more contemplative manner, with the adventure game format being particularly suited to it. With a compelling narrative, interesting characters (new and returning) and a game that plays well, there is a lot to like here, despite a number of technical hiccups on the PC version.

Star Trek: Resurgence offers a genuine thrill for big fans of the series, and more of a curio to anyone else.

What it really boils down to is this: if you really enjoy Star Trek, especially TNG, then you’ll likely love the story being told in Resurgence. As a Star Trek story, it’s fantastic but as a game, it’s terribly buggy. So be aware that this Star Trek gem is not perfect before you decide to boldly go where no man has gone before.

Star Trek in game format has often not been synonymous with quality and unfortunately this time it is not a hit either. The story is interesting and the characters are generally colourful and well written. However, it is hard to give these characters more life and we have to deal with the stiff animations and the weak voice acting unfortunately.

Disappointing Star Trek adventure that badly needs additional polish and bug fixes to be at least mediocre.

The writing really touches on the nature of lower deck enlisted vs the command decisions of bridge crew. As a former military I've never seen such appreciation in a game ever. Minus 1 point for a few sound hiccups and lower graphics. That being said you will be completely immersed within the first hour. Full Review »

While it has some graphical issues and bugs at launch (why it is 9/10), playing through the whole game was amazing. The story was gripping, the character interactions complicated, and overall, a very well-made game. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Star Trek, especially of the TNG/DS9/VOY era. The feel and story fit that timeline very well. It isn't a particularly challenging game, though there is some combat, it has a story mode if those combat portions prove difficult. The main appeal is making tough choices and seeing how they play out. The choices you make will bring some characters closer to the playable characters while others may distance themselves. The medium they tell the story in is very, very fitting for Star Trek.

Once patches are released and the small technical issues fixed, this will be a 10/10 game. Highly recommend!

It's more for people who like Discovery, Strange New World and the first seasons of Picard.
But this is a videogme and wow is a bad one. Maybe it's better on a console.,. But this janky ill ported mess is not worth spending money on the PC.
