Difficult, but fair Rayman-like platformer could perhaps look nicer, but who cares, when it excels with unparalleled gameplay?

For a first title, Splashteam has shown that they are more than capable of bringing some original ideas to one of gaming’s oldest genres. The action-packed levels offer plenty of surprises to keep players on their toes, even if a few fall flat, and the brightly colored presentation further benefits the unique title. Yet, Splasher‘s distinct lack of character is unfortunate, as even a few minor touches could have greatly enhanced the context in which all of this exciting platforming is taking place. Nonetheless, casual and speedrunning platforming fans alike will find a pleasantly surprising amount of depth and content that boosts Splasher to exciting heights.

This game is raw fun. I've been looking for a fast platformer this entertaining since Super Meat Boy and haven't managed to find one untilThis game is raw fun. I've been looking for a fast platformer this entertaining since Super Meat Boy and haven't managed to find one until Splasher. I like that they've separated the completionist mode from the speedrun mode allowing you to focus on what's important without sacrificing other achievements. The graphics and music are fantastic and the levels never seem to feel stale. I'm about 70% of the way through the normal game at the moment so I can't speak to the replayability of the game but with the speedrunning part of it I imagine I'll be playing it for a while to come. Fantastic! If you are a fan of Super Meat Boy or N++ or platformers in general you need to pick this game up. Level design is constantly funFantastic! If you are a fan of Super Meat Boy or N++ or platformers in general you need to pick this game up. Level design is constantly fun and progresses as you improve throughout the game. The core movement mechanics are SPOT on; no cheap deaths, only mistakes you make. Beyond that there are different mechanics introduced throughout the game that change the way you approach levels and demands more from the player. Impeccable balance, rock solid mechanics, and a f***ing fun game to play. Not much more you can ask for! Full Review »
