What we have here is a Spidey-themed action title aimed squarely at the younger PC gamer - think bright colours, no real-life guns (the bad guys tote silly sci-fi bubble-pistol thingummies instead) and gameplay so easy you can sail through it in a single afternoon. Gritty it ain't.
-
After three hours (if you can make it that far) of crappy controls, mediocre visuals, and boring and generally unimaginative gameplay, you'll actually be glad to have finished the game so you can return it or burn it and move on with your life.

This game can be completed, from start to finish in two hours. I am not joking. What's more is there's no incentive to go back and replay anything in this game. All in all, the PC version of this magnificent film, with an equally magnificent console game does not measure up to either side of its namesake.

Computer Gaming WorldThis game just feels like an insult. Or maybe a practical joke. [Nov 2004, p.80]
-
The second thing you need to know? It’s appalling.
-
PC GamerThe PC version is nothing more than formulaic action/adventure that's been dumbed down for kids. It's a waste of everyone's time...A colossal disappointment. [Oct 2004, p.92]
-
Computer Games MagazineIt's terrible...This is just the sort of game that gives movie license titles a bad name. [Nov 2004, p.87]
-
The game sucks in every sense of the word. Sure, Bruce Campbell narrates the tutorial but that is the sole tiny nugget of goodness buried in this huge pile of wasted game.

Sep 2, 2023It was one of the first games I played as a child. It has a special place in my heart, so I have to give it a high score.
