Oct 3, 2015I didn't expect much from this game but it turned out that it's one of the best games I've ever played. Wonderful atmosphere, amazing story. I'm 34 years old guy and I literally had a teardrop in my eye on the ending. It speaks for itself. No other game had such an effect on me.

Apr 16, 2017This is a rare game for me, in which i found every aspect to be perfect. The world looks awesome, very believable and makes you feel you really are there, in that world. Story-telling and story are on point. Enemies are the exact amount of difficult, balanced with everything else. Just 5 star experience.

Mar 16, 2016this game is a thoughtful, psychological horror/ sci-fi masterpiece. If you like deep storytelling, and heavy atmosphere then this game is made for you. The scariest thing about this game that it will make you think about life and death, and not in the happy way. there're far worse fates than just dying, it's not an easy game to just digest.
-
Mar 12, 2016Story & atmosphere in Soma are just superb! It could be a great movie, or a book, but instead it's an even better game. Looks like guys from Frictional games just know what they are doing.
-
Sep 26, 2015It's a fantastic game. The story seems familiar if you are into si-fi, but authors "tell" it in a very immersive and emotional way using really good visuals and sound.
-
Oct 22, 2015Great game, if you love exploring not too complicated puzzles and a great sci-fi story that has you on the edge of your seat the whole time then this game is for you. scary as hell in part do to the fact you can only hide and not kill anything but that just adds to the tension.
-
Mar 22, 2019This is such an amazing game. This game played with my mind and feelings like very few other games did, and there is no other game that uses the concepts of loneliness and conscience like SOMA does. I agree it has a few weaknesses like the combat but it's just a tiny downside of an incredible game.
-
Jan 1, 2016Great interactive story with a lot of ideas to think about. There is a lot to explore while you progress along the game, and every detail gives some extra insight into what happened there and how the story progresses.

Oct 28, 2015This is perfect. On every level. THe philosophy questions it raises are just amazing. The gameplay combined with atmosphere is also great. I didn't like the monster parts of the game, because they kept interferring with my bits and pieces of story that I tried to collect. Still, an amazing 100% game.
-
Oct 1, 2015For a long time did not go good games with the plot, just 10/10
Great graphics, the atmosphere of the game and a soundtrack that makes the brain. I would recommend. -
Feb 14, 2016Perfect in every way! Exceptional Sound/Atmosphere, after some minutes you feel so linked to the main character! Really unique setting (maybe a bit "Bioshock-ish") and an awesome unexpectable plot. Played through with my mates. I really recommend this game!
-
Oct 1, 2015Given that I like psychological story driven games, this was one of the best gaming experiences I ever had. Do not spoil it by reading about the game or watching videos. This game is best enjoyed when you do not know what to expect.

Aug 19, 2020Fascinating storyline that will leave you thinking about it for days. Very well crafted in every department - atmosphere, graphics, music, voice-acting, sound design. Truly an amazing first-person adventure will easily suck you into its world.
I only wish it made more use of its wonderful physics in gameplay like in the Penumbra series. -
Apr 7, 2017The last time I played a horror game this immersive, atmospheric, and hauntingly beautiful was with System Shock 2. Soma has an amazing story and a top-notch sci-fi background. I enjoyed it more than Bioshock and Last of Us. The ending was shocking even though all the clues were there.
-
Oct 5, 2015I was jumping in my seat on more than one occasion. I get creeped out just loading it up. No clunky 'pick-up' mechanics or power-ups to grind through, just solve puzzles and work your way through this world to discover yourself and your purpose. Put on a good pair of adult diapers for this one!

Sep 24, 2015Absolutely awesome horror game! Amazing sound design, abient music, monster design and story! That story and setting man... just so, so good! You will soon feel like you are in the game.
-
Mar 4, 2020It's an awesome mix of horror and adventure with a twisted and awesome story. I had a lot of fun playing this game and I love how the story unfolded itself and kept me interested from start to finish.
Anything more would be a spoiler. ;)
Anyway, I highly recommend this game. Would've loved to say more but I don't want to spoil anything. -
Oct 7, 2015Masterpiece of Horror Storytelling . This game insert fear on the script rather than their enemies. Truly one of the most unique Sci-Fi tales i've ever experienced . Buy this game and support Frictional games . This guys are only the few truly Horror developers remaining on the industry

Sep 22, 2015I love Fictional Games work. Amnesia was a classic, this game comes 5 years later and feels like a true successor to what they have been working towards. It's an awesome game with a very mature, thought-provoking story that you'll wanna see through to the end. I won't spoil anything but you are in for a treat... Enjoy! 10/10

Mar 15, 2016I think this is the best game I've ever witnessed. It was so touching and existential. I love sci-fi and I love the whole concept of this game that is extremely interesting for me. It was beautiful and frightening at the same time. Mysterious. A big move forward. Love the game and developers. Thank you.

Nov 28, 2016Pra mim um dos melhores da geração, coisa linda demais. Recomendo fortemente pra todos aqueles que gostam de um jogo com suspense e um final surpreendente.

Sep 22, 201510 out of 10. I have finished the game in one day because the game just could not let me go. This game has just enough scary stuff for people like me who wants more of an adventure than of a horror (Amnesia was too scary for me). Great visual style, great performance and optimization, 0 issues. I still cant force myself to finish MGS 5.

Sep 23, 2015Amazing game.
The sounds is just too good, texts and the interactive items. The experiences is awesome.
Is less scary than Amensia, but who cares? We have better graphics, story and ambientation.
Good work Frictional Games -

Sep 29, 2015The beauty of discovering the bits and pieces of this scifi plot is absolutely genious, it'll give you the goosebumps that's for sure but don't weaver. For the ending is worth it all, in a way if you follow the concept the ending shouldn't have been surprising and yet, the truth is hard to swallow.
Enjoy. -
Oct 1, 2015Slow starter but the pacing after is amazing, story driven at its best. I think this could be a movie, simple idea and implemented perfectly. Cant wait to go through it again.

Oct 9, 2015Developers underestimate the power of stress. Someone could sit down and die from playing this game. It's as serious as a heart attack. People have real problems and people find video games are as effecting as film.
-
Nov 4, 2015Easily the best story in any game I've ever played, Just the moral choices and ideas on life itself make this game amazing. The voice acting, graphics and sound/music were superb and despite not being as scary as the first Amnesia, this game didn't need to be.
-
Oct 28, 2015An amazing game just finished watching it. It has an Amazing story and a bitter/sweet ending, the game has good sounds and plot and graphics and i wouldn't be surprised if it would become the game of 2015. It had a few scary parts though. All around SOMA is a fantastic game.

Jan 5, 2016It's very good game, I spent many hours playing it. Sounds, story, gameplay are amazing.
IMHO the best game of 2015 year. I'm going to recommend all my friends to play it. -
Dec 22, 2015top 10 for me out of the few thousand games i've ever played with. if i had to choose between bioshock infinite (which is a very good game) and soma i would pick the later. it's like the talos principle, just more compact and living. it's not too long, not too short, no boring or frustrating parts. looks great. sound desing is beyond words.

Jan 25, 2016I'm long time Metacritic follower, but this is my first review, I just had to, because this game is brilliant, and it is just a one word to describe it. Long time has passed since I played such immersive, emotional and thrilling game. As a horror game it isn't much scary as it is highly intensive game. Just brilliant, I'm thankful for this masterpiece.

Mar 17, 2016This is probably one of the best games I have ever played. After finishing it I felt like I have read a very good book with a perfect storyline :) Just simply....very good game.
-
May 7, 2016One of my all-time favourites.
Everything has been said, but it's important to point out that this is *not* a shooter/stealth game; it'is an exploration game. It's also not scary; it's unsettling. It's important to know those two things before approaching the game, otherwise some players may expect something different (ie. Amnesia, which is an entirely different game!). -
Jul 12, 2016The amount of thinking the game has given me, and the amount of info I've been seeking for since completing it, is incomparable to any other game I've played. I am truly glad for this experience, and just as sad that it's very unlikely for something similar to happen again anytime soon.
-
Feb 28, 2022I still have to discover another game able to build inside of me such levels of tension. Masterpiece in his genre.

Nov 1, 2016One of the amazing, unforgettable, shockingly well put together games I played. The story made me sit close to the screen, the atmosphere is unique and very polished. I love voice acting, it is the most profound and professional I have seen within games. Not even one lame sentence. Slow clap. Love to see more from Frictional Games, keep it up guys! :3
-
Jan 9, 2017If you like to think about the philosophical problems of the mind, identity and consciousness and you like narrative sci-fi psychological horror video games. That is definitely for you. For me that combination its amazing. The sound, characters, voice acting, atmosphere are perfectly executed. It is water in the desert of FPS. A experience that video games rarely give.
-
Aug 17, 2018I think this is the best story in video gaming BECAUSE it can only be experiences as a video game. While gameplay is lacking, the enemies are visually and audibly excellent. The environment feels harsh and uninviting while having a subtle beauty due to its unique scientific location. It was a blast to walk on the deep ocean floor. The story is excellent and a true horror classic.

Dec 18, 2017SOMA is probably my favorite narrative based video game ever. Made by the makers of Amnesia: Dark Descent most of the gameplay is peek-a-boo with monsters and a few puzzles. The game can be beat in under 8 hours and 10/10 achievements are a part of the story and can't be missed either which is a nice bonus.

May 27, 2020Strong story with great gameplay. Game with philosophy and self-reflection of humanity. Not such scary like Penumbra etc., but that does not matter. And "Safe mode" is pleasant surprise. Game was scary even without threat of killing by monsters.
Its not masterpiece, but I cant give less than 10/10. -
Jun 2, 2018The best story I've ever experienced in a game or movie. One of the only that's gotten an emotional response from me. And it messed me up for a couple weeks, stuck in my mind. I loved it. Definitely give it a playthrough. If you don't like the hide-and-seek style of gameplay, the new safe mode is your answer.

Jan 29, 2019A horror game that is for me, a game with a very good scenario! the same style of play that once finished, you continue to think about all the things you did! a game that allows everyone to interpret it as they want, or understand it!
The game does not rely on jumpscare, only by pure fear
A game to have! -
Mar 20, 2019I made this account just to write this. SOMA is a great game, the story is one of my favorites and it does it so damn well. There is so much to do and even though it is loved by many and has a great score, I still think it's underrated. It should be given a go, or even just watch someone else play it. It is in my top three horror games.
-
Mar 26, 2021Top tier story telling in any game, with deep discussion of consciousness and what it means to be human. Although there are many sci-fi stories out there on similar topics, the game design is still able to exceed expectation in many moments throughout the game. SOMA brings out some of the best scares in a horror game, and it achieves it usually without monsters. Gameplay isn't the best but decent.

Oct 16, 2019One of the best horror games ever made.
Best game from Frictional as far as i'm concerned.
Story, masterpiece, thought provoking, very interesting.
Unique atmosphere.
Diverse monsters, which make sense in the plot.
Characters that get you attached and cary. -

-
Oct 30, 2020Just one word: "masterpiece". It has one of the best and most compelling stories that ive ever play/watch/read in my life. Pure sci-fi, very emotional. And if you add the moral dilemmas and the moments of really good horror... well, there it is: a masterpiece.
-
Nov 16, 2020The most atmospheric game I have ever been playing. After finishing the game I was sitting for 10 minutes and thinking about life and death, about morality, about humanity. Great story and good gameplay. As for me, this game is better than most AAA titles.

May 22, 2021Oyunu steam üzerinden satın almıştım. Oyunun atmosferi aşırı gerici hikayesi ve bossları aşırı tüyler ürpertici oyun içi diyaloglar oyunun hikayesinin %70 ini veriyor geri kalan kısmı öğrenmek için baya bi etraftaki itemlere dikkat etmeniz gerek oyunun final bölümünü anlamak baya uzun sürüyor

May 29, 2022One of the best Storygames ive ever played. All is incredibel the Story is 10/10, the Characters are 10/10 all is 10/10

Feb 13, 2016As with any thoughtful storytelling, Soma works on multiple levels.
-
Jan 19, 2016SOMA is not the horror game I expected out of Frictional, but I don’t care and it doesn’t matter. This is an excellent work of science fiction, not necessarily unique but uniquely told through its skillful use of video game conceits. It’s System Shock 2 for a modern sensibility, BioShock freed of its AAA chains. It’s damn good and, for my money, the most cohesive and ambitious game Frictional’s made so far.
-
CD-ActionDec 16, 2015I parted with Soma with the same feeling that came over me while I was watching “Matrix”, “Interstellar” or “Inception”. Once again someone came up with something no one thought of before and took me for an amazing ride into the unknown. [12/2015, p.40]
