Jun 2, 2019Beautiful simulation of the rotation of objects, as in Until Down straight. You can also admire yourself in the mirror.
Total: 9/10.
P.S. The game is really worth going through - the atmosphere and the plot is absolutely enchanting. -
Apr 4, 2019For a long time I didn't experienced so great immerse game. Everything works here perfectly. From atmosphere, through story to audio. I'm not saying is the most terrifying game ever, but some moments truly gave my some chill. But the most important thing in Soma is the story, characters, whole idea and a message hidden between lines. It's something everybody should experience.
-
Mar 22, 2019This is such an amazing game. This game played with my mind and feelings like very few other games did, and there is no other game that uses the concepts of loneliness and conscience like SOMA does. I agree it has a few weaknesses like the combat but it's just a tiny downside of an incredible game.
-
Mar 22, 2019Paradoxically, SOMA is a unique example when monsters aren't needed in the horror game, they just interfere and annoy. SOMA the most plot-oriented horror game of whole horror genre.
-
Mar 20, 2019I made this account just to write this. SOMA is a great game, the story is one of my favorites and it does it so damn well. There is so much to do and even though it is loved by many and has a great score, I still think it's underrated. It should be given a go, or even just watch someone else play it. It is in my top three horror games.

Feb 3, 2019Play hide and seek with monsters, do something with terminals, repeat till you get to the end of the game.
So sCaRy and exciting...just like mowing the grass... -
Jan 29, 2019A horror game that is for me, a game with a very good scenario! the same style of play that once finished, you continue to think about all the things you did! a game that allows everyone to interpret it as they want, or understand it!
The game does not rely on jumpscare, only by pure fear
A game to have! -

Jan 2, 2019Boring walking, grabbing, reading sim; the grabbing is terrible because your hands are non existent, the movement isn't fluid at all
I opened a drawer and it hurt me
items fall through desks etc
you get the option to answer or reject calls I just reject them then nothing happens in the entire 3 minute scene
bad graphics terrible voice acting -

Aug 17, 2018I think this is the best story in video gaming BECAUSE it can only be experiences as a video game. While gameplay is lacking, the enemies are visually and audibly excellent. The environment feels harsh and uninviting while having a subtle beauty due to its unique scientific location. It was a blast to walk on the deep ocean floor. The story is excellent and a true horror classic.
-
Aug 15, 2018One of the best game horrors ever made, it can be put on the same shelf with Silent Hill 2. Mood of the game is astonishing and the plot is very clever and interesting. Very close to 10/10!

Jun 16, 2018Великолепная игра! Отличный сюжет, который держит в напряжении до самого конца.
-
Jun 10, 2018This is one of those rare games where the great story and atmosphere gets you through. The game play is ok and can feel a little slow at times but the locations and story telling is amazing and this is a must play.
-
Jun 2, 2018The best story I've ever experienced in a game or movie. One of the only that's gotten an emotional response from me. And it messed me up for a couple weeks, stuck in my mind. I loved it. Definitely give it a playthrough. If you don't like the hide-and-seek style of gameplay, the new safe mode is your answer.

Dec 18, 2017SOMA is probably my favorite narrative based video game ever. Made by the makers of Amnesia: Dark Descent most of the gameplay is peek-a-boo with monsters and a few puzzles. The game can be beat in under 8 hours and 10/10 achievements are a part of the story and can't be missed either which is a nice bonus.
-
Nov 30, 2017Soma got interesting and thought provoking plot, great atmosphere and visuals. Gameplay itself is little bit stale especially stealth parts, but I enjoyed Soma a lot although horror is not my favorite genre.

Nov 14, 2017Интересный сюжет, хочется быстрее игру пройти и узнать чем история закончится. Враги немного приедаются, но не надоедают. Грустная концовка служит призом игроку за прохождение игры. Больше бы таких замечательных игр

Apr 19, 2017Frictional Games done it again after Amnesia!
Now this one is even better, and not only that but one of the most special, unique and memorably games you'll ever play. Great levels and nice idea and the story is Amazing and that ending is wow. Its world reminds of Bioshock, beautiful yet creepy. Even if you are not a horror fan, you'll love this one. -
Apr 16, 2017This is a rare game for me, in which i found every aspect to be perfect. The world looks awesome, very believable and makes you feel you really are there, in that world. Story-telling and story are on point. Enemies are the exact amount of difficult, balanced with everything else. Just 5 star experience.
-
Apr 7, 2017The last time I played a horror game this immersive, atmospheric, and hauntingly beautiful was with System Shock 2. Soma has an amazing story and a top-notch sci-fi background. I enjoyed it more than Bioshock and Last of Us. The ending was shocking even though all the clues were there.

Jan 9, 2017If you like to think about the philosophical problems of the mind, identity and consciousness and you like narrative sci-fi psychological horror video games. That is definitely for you. For me that combination its amazing. The sound, characters, voice acting, atmosphere are perfectly executed. It is water in the desert of FPS. A experience that video games rarely give.
-
Nov 28, 2016Pra mim um dos melhores da geração, coisa linda demais. Recomendo fortemente pra todos aqueles que gostam de um jogo com suspense e um final surpreendente.
-
Nov 1, 2016One of the amazing, unforgettable, shockingly well put together games I played. The story made me sit close to the screen, the atmosphere is unique and very polished. I love voice acting, it is the most profound and professional I have seen within games. Not even one lame sentence. Slow clap. Love to see more from Frictional Games, keep it up guys! :3

Sep 7, 2016soma is a bioshock remake. Its not nearly as good as bioshock and obviously not as original considering Bioshock was released in 2007 and that make me disappointed that frictional would use it so blantantly (The premise)
I noticed the so-called "critics, experts" deny that but soma is a bioshock remake. -
Aug 29, 2016Pros: the general idea. Cons: goofs. That is: you can't swim underwater, but you can sprint. You need a very special suit to protect you from the pressure, but it's perfectly fine if one of your very armored gloves is torn off. Space gun built underwater (very, very stupid idea). etc.
Still not a bad game in general. -
Aug 28, 2016This game doesn't end. Even when you see the black screen, its story and speeches remains in your head and make you think.. Good gameplay, good story, good game. 9/10
-
Aug 17, 2016One of my favorite horrors of all time - I loved every minute of it even though I was really scared most of the time! The audiovisuals were impressive, too.
-
Aug 17, 2016I was really impressed by another Thomas Grip's child: Amnesia: The Dark Descent. SOMA is something like a continuation of this game but with much more deep story. And I think the story in SOMA is the most great thing in this game. But why 8/10? Because of not being scary. I don't like the deisng of the monsters and their mechanics.
-
Aug 17, 2016Gotta love this one! Not as scary as Amnesia, but scary enough with great storytelling. The atmosphere is fantastic and the graphics are quite good. It was a great experience.
-
Jul 12, 2016The amount of thinking the game has given me, and the amount of info I've been seeking for since completing it, is incomparable to any other game I've played. I am truly glad for this experience, and just as sad that it's very unlikely for something similar to happen again anytime soon.

May 7, 2016One of my all-time favourites.
Everything has been said, but it's important to point out that this is *not* a shooter/stealth game; it'is an exploration game. It's also not scary; it's unsettling. It's important to know those two things before approaching the game, otherwise some players may expect something different (ie. Amnesia, which is an entirely different game!). -
Apr 27, 2016I found this interesting at first then it slowly consumed me. I highly recommend if you like atmospheric first person survival horror games with occasional puzzles and question what it means to be human

Mar 23, 2016Very good game. I expected no less from the creators of Amnesia. Atmosphere is awesome and fear is always present. Whole story is unique and the environment makes it even better. This psychological horror will make you think about meaning of life. The puzzles could have been done a bit more difficult, though.
-
Mar 17, 2016This is probably one of the best games I have ever played. After finishing it I felt like I have read a very good book with a perfect storyline :) Just simply....very good game.
-
Mar 16, 2016this game is a thoughtful, psychological horror/ sci-fi masterpiece. If you like deep storytelling, and heavy atmosphere then this game is made for you. The scariest thing about this game that it will make you think about life and death, and not in the happy way. there're far worse fates than just dying, it's not an easy game to just digest.
-
Mar 15, 2016I think this is the best game I've ever witnessed. It was so touching and existential. I love sci-fi and I love the whole concept of this game that is extremely interesting for me. It was beautiful and frightening at the same time. Mysterious. A big move forward. Love the game and developers. Thank you.
-
Mar 12, 2016Story & atmosphere in Soma are just superb! It could be a great movie, or a book, but instead it's an even better game. Looks like guys from Frictional games just know what they are doing.

Feb 14, 2016Perfect in every way! Exceptional Sound/Atmosphere, after some minutes you feel so linked to the main character! Really unique setting (maybe a bit "Bioshock-ish") and an awesome unexpectable plot. Played through with my mates. I really recommend this game!

Jan 25, 2016I'm long time Metacritic follower, but this is my first review, I just had to, because this game is brilliant, and it is just a one word to describe it. Long time has passed since I played such immersive, emotional and thrilling game. As a horror game it isn't much scary as it is highly intensive game. Just brilliant, I'm thankful for this masterpiece.

Jan 5, 2016It's very good game, I spent many hours playing it. Sounds, story, gameplay are amazing.
IMHO the best game of 2015 year. I'm going to recommend all my friends to play it. -
Jan 1, 2016Great interactive story with a lot of ideas to think about. There is a lot to explore while you progress along the game, and every detail gives some extra insight into what happened there and how the story progresses.
-
Dec 22, 2015top 10 for me out of the few thousand games i've ever played with. if i had to choose between bioshock infinite (which is a very good game) and soma i would pick the later. it's like the talos principle, just more compact and living. it's not too long, not too short, no boring or frustrating parts. looks great. sound desing is beyond words.
-
Dec 17, 2015Anyone with a taste for deep, meaningful stories shouldn't miss SOMA, a game that will leave you questioning what it means to be long after you've played. As the pro reviewers put it, the greatest horror of SOMA is coming to terms with reality, and it isn't easy.
-
Dec 3, 2015One of the greatest FPS sci-fi horror games (though there are not many of them).
Super detailed world, stunning atmosphere. I feel like I want to play it again and again just to know all the details.
It could be 10, but the game lacks of some action and interactivity. -

Nov 25, 2015not as scary as amnesia maybe, but a better and more interesting story. definitely a worthy successor. production values seem pretty high too, and the voice acting is awesome. overall a very solid game.

Nov 16, 2015Didn't go in with much of an expection and was blown away. Expect 7-9 hours of exciting gameplay, mainly based on exploration and storytelling. While the story is for the most part good, i saw the end coming a mile away - But still. i warmly recommend it

-
Nov 12, 2015Despite some narrative shortcomings---probably because of its heavy theme---SOMA is a unique, philosophically horrifying experience of a humanity which, desperate for survival, lost its way on the avenue of transhumanism.
-
Nov 12, 2015I thought this game would be scary. Everyone raved about it like they raved about Amnesia, which I tried and found boring. Then I tried this hoping it would be scary, but all I do is play hide and seek. That's all these style of games amount to. A lot of running and hiding and counting to 10.
-
Nov 10, 2015They have to change game system because it's not scary anymore story was ok graphics also ok there is nothing impressive i was expect much much better game from frictional game but they keep failing (see:Amnesia 2)

Nov 4, 2015Easily the best story in any game I've ever played, Just the moral choices and ideas on life itself make this game amazing. The voice acting, graphics and sound/music were superb and despite not being as scary as the first Amnesia, this game didn't need to be.

Oct 28, 2015This is perfect. On every level. THe philosophy questions it raises are just amazing. The gameplay combined with atmosphere is also great. I didn't like the monster parts of the game, because they kept interferring with my bits and pieces of story that I tried to collect. Still, an amazing 100% game.
-
Oct 28, 2015An amazing game just finished watching it. It has an Amazing story and a bitter/sweet ending, the game has good sounds and plot and graphics and i wouldn't be surprised if it would become the game of 2015. It had a few scary parts though. All around SOMA is a fantastic game.
-

-
Oct 25, 2015Great story and atmosphere. Maybe not as scary as Amnesia or Penumbra, but definitely equally unsettling. Sound-wise SOMA is a triumph. All in all, Frictional Games have outdone themselves, creating their best game yet.
-
Oct 24, 2015Not a good horror actualy. But it' still very interesting and exciting. It makes you thought about life and what life means to us.If you wanted to play something new this is for you.
-
Oct 22, 2015Great game, if you love exploring not too complicated puzzles and a great sci-fi story that has you on the edge of your seat the whole time then this game is for you. scary as hell in part do to the fact you can only hide and not kill anything but that just adds to the tension.

Oct 17, 2015Pros:
Very good immersion and atmosphere
Amazing environments
Great story and characters
Cons:
Sometimes you may get lost or not know what to do (had to look a few things up online)
At times the monster's AI can seem a bit glued to you which can lower immersion
Sometimes the physics with objects can be a bit odd -

Feb 13, 2016As with any thoughtful storytelling, Soma works on multiple levels.
-
Jan 19, 2016SOMA is not the horror game I expected out of Frictional, but I don’t care and it doesn’t matter. This is an excellent work of science fiction, not necessarily unique but uniquely told through its skillful use of video game conceits. It’s System Shock 2 for a modern sensibility, BioShock freed of its AAA chains. It’s damn good and, for my money, the most cohesive and ambitious game Frictional’s made so far.
-
CD-ActionDec 16, 2015I parted with Soma with the same feeling that came over me while I was watching “Matrix”, “Interstellar” or “Inception”. Once again someone came up with something no one thought of before and took me for an amazing ride into the unknown. [12/2015, p.40]
