    It's not a bad game. It had potential but kind of wasted it.

    Pros.:
    - Digital Hong Kong.
    - Some good characters.
    - Details to local languages and environment.
    - Nice music.

    Cons.:
    - Story is too simple.
    - Irrational characters.

    Even after almost 11 years later this game is still incredible. Its GTA with martial arts and it executes it very well. However the controls on pc do seem a bit sloppy compared to controller versions on ps3 and 360. Its not perfect up to todays standards but its still a damn good video game.

    Яркая сочная картинка, необычный свежий сеттинг и клёвая боёвка не спасает для меня этот, в целом, добротный проект духовного наследия True Crime, чью первую часть я в своё время завершил с превеликим удовольствием. Данное творение для меня стало разочарованием именно в плане сюжета, а именно - из-за его клишированности. Единственное, что в истории для меня запомнилось спустя несколько летЯркая сочная картинка, необычный свежий сеттинг и клёвая боёвка не спасает для меня этот, в целом, добротный проект духовного наследия True Crime, чью первую часть я в своё время завершил с превеликим удовольствием. Данное творение для меня стало разочарованием именно в плане сюжета, а именно - из-за его клишированности.     A bland and uninteresting game with only its setting making it remotely enjoyable. The gameplay is incredibly repetitive and uninspired, the characters are two-dimensional and very forgettable and the whole concept is just so bland nevermind the clunky driving. This game is just so painfully average it boggles my mind that this game has such good reception.

It's on Hong Kong, it's open world, the fight system is not Yakuza but is a funny one and it has a lot of funny mechanics to beat your enemies or jump car to car for instance. The radio has a great selection of catchy asian songs wich you will enjoy listening during rides on such lovely city.

    The game is not that long but it has a lot of side quest, easter eggs, funny NPC's and replayability. This version of steam has a HD Texture pack. It changes a lot how it looks ;) The only downsides are some little details that don't break the experience like the camera control.

    Fun game and decent story albeit with many cliches, interesting chinese setting that we dont see too often. However open world gameplay is kind of a mixed bag, world itself is very restrictive where you can go, theres no verticality whats so ever, melee combat can get old fast and in itself is very basic with super easy mechanics, driving feels also stiff.

The animations lack weight and fail to satisfy completely; The run animation is an embarrassing example of that. Overall, the game's formula and blend of mechanics have potential but the overall recipe ends up betrayed by the quality of its execution.     Im being generous by giving it the score that i am giving ,but, it is a fun game. The setting is pretty unique. Story is ok. The big thing is combat, of course. It's frustrating but very satisfying to smash some people into pieces. Driving? Worst i have seen from a AAA title. Worse than Grid 2. Worse than GTA V. About 50% deadzone. I really dont know what the hell they were thinking.

Indeed, it is enough to merit a full 10! Pity that you can not rebind the Arrow Keys.... and this is a big problem because it does not allow you to fully enjoy the game - at least for players like me who areSleeping Dogs could be a perfect action game in GTA style, but with much more style, well made and without Bugs - just since first release - and this is not Small feat! Indeed, it is enough to merit a full 10! Pity that you can not rebind the Arrow Keys.... and this is a big problem because it does not allow you to fully enjoy the game - at least for players like me who are accustomed to using the right side of the keyboard (arrows + numpad and other Keys around that area)... and we are not too few! - What a Pity! The gameplay is mostly enjoyable, but you'll be doing the same moves (once you learn them) over and over again, fight after fight. By the end of the game it will really start to wear on you. I mean, who decided to make run and jump the same button? In order to jump while running, you have to quickly release the spacebar and then press it again and hold it down so you keep running. And right click to exit a vehicle? I accidentally exited vehicles so many times because of this terrible control scheme. Despite these flaws, Sleeping Dogs has enough content and is just about the right length so you don't get bored with it. Overall, I am disappointed in Sleeping Dogs. I expected less rookie mistakes from a game with such high praise.… Expand

    DLC costumes, guns and vehicles are sort of a gimmick. All the missions are done in vehicles provided to you and carrying any kind of gun outside of your apartment makes you a police target immediately. And the game is full of "chase this guy on foot for five minutes and then take him down in melee" sequences where shooting the guy fails the mission. Smart this game is not.

    What's left is an extremely dragged out and watered down Hong Kong action movie broken into small parts hidden among a bleak GTA clone.    … Expand

Storyline is quite interesting and keeps you playing until the end. Side missions almost always follow the same pattern, follow enemy, beat the enemy, mission complete.     Unlike the previous ‘True Crime’ games, where there was a strict depiction of the city maps, Sleeping Dogs does not portray Hong Kong, inch by inch. United Front Games has implemented GTA’s novelties in way that winks slyly at Rockstar. In essence, what the GTA series has accomplished, Sleeping Dogs has carried out better and more elegantly.
