Mar 6, 2013I can't believe how horribly EA trashed the venerable Simcity series. The DRM makes the game unplayable. No matter how many times you restart the game, you won't be able to build a city for more than an hour or so (if you're lucky). Thanks for screwing over the law-abiding people of the world by not letting them play a game that they purchased EA. You've successfully converted me into a pirate.
-
Mar 6, 2013Will not load, EA reps say all servers are online, yet can not connect to any server. There is no customer support to speak of. EA will not offer any refunds for their defective products.
-
Mar 6, 2013The game is unplayable at launch. The number of servers was low, and now even though they claim servers are up they are not allowing authentication to play. This game needed much more time in beta before this horrifically flawed release, and should be taken off market until they get it working. To someone who has seen computer releases since the 90's, this is unforgivable.
-
Mar 6, 2013I have had this game for 2 days now, and I still have been unable to play because of a "Network Error", or busy server, or other error. I hope to be able to try it out soon, but most of the reviews from people who actually can play are negative as well...
-
Mar 6, 2013Spent $90 on this against my better judgement. Never again. Can't even play the game. Like buying a luxury car and having it breakdown before leaving the dealership parking lot. Since when is this acceptable?
-
Mar 7, 2013Day 3, still have yet to play. This is absolutely criminal! EA, I want my money and time back.
I am posting on as many forums as I can in hopes that this will persuade others to NOT purchase this 'game'. I would give this less than a zero if I could. -
Mar 6, 2013Long time fan of the series, this game is great, the mechanics and all, it is just so unfortunate that EA and Origin are the ones behind the wheel. What with it being DRM, once it stops making them as much money as they want, it will go the to the same place The Sims Online was sent.

Mar 6, 2013Made it thru the tutorial on sim city after my second try. Then the servers decided they did not want to work, AGAIN. It's 2 am and it's now day 3 of this game being out. Totally unacceptable. EA has lost a customer permanently.
-

-
Mar 6, 2013I haven't been able to start SimCity yet because the game forces you to connect to a server that is never available and always BUSY. You have to be connected online even to play a single player game. $80 for nothing! I'm saying goodbye to Maxis and goodbye to Origin.(EA's crappy version of Steam.)
-
Mar 6, 2013
-
Mar 6, 2013I purchased this game and have been unable to play it once. I purchased the game using the Origin website. I was able to log onto the servers once, but then the game crashed after about 5-10 minutes of the tutorial. Now I am unable to start another game. Unable to get refund. I am calling my credit card company to prevent payment.
-
Mar 6, 2013Unable to play. Tutorial will not progress past the loading screen. Queues to play a single player game.
This is unacceptable EA. I expect things that I purchase to work as advertised on day one. Fix this. -
Mar 6, 2013Just helping to drag down the rating here in hopes that EA will learn a lesson here. Do not block me from playing a single player game because your servers are insufficient. 48 Hours after launch. This is unacceptable,
-
Mar 6, 2013I just can't play, servers down... that's it. And we are on the third day, at leats with Diablo I was able to play on the second day.............................

-
Mar 6, 2013I'm giving this a zero. The game is literally unplayable. I have a top-end machine, never had any problems playing any game. Game literally loads to blackscreen. This is when the servers are up (currently down). Yeah good job with that single player game, guys.
-
Mar 6, 2013I created a Metacritic account just to review this game. Here are some simple points.
a) The DRM is ATROCIOUS. IT WON'T EVEN "AUTHENTICATE ME" TO PLAY SINGLEPLAYER.
b) If that isn't enough, THE GAME CRASHES EVERY 15 MINUTES.
c) From what I played of the game, it's mediocre at best.
d) This is a complete waste of $60 and I swear I will never buy another EA game again. -
Mar 6, 2013I recommend somebody to buy this game. iv been constantly trying for two days to get in the game iv maybe played for half an hour then got disconnected i dont even want to play multiplayer this is BS.

Mar 6, 2013The game struggles beyond anything I have ever played. Told myself i shouldn't buy something from EA day one. Again they did not disappoint by under planning and releasing a game half finished and currently as 2 days later unplayable. Disappointed isn't a harsh enough word, however the word........... unable to connect to Sim City please try again for further review
-
Mar 6, 2013Over the last 48 hours, I've only been able to play about for about 4 hours and spent another 7 hours waiting for the servers to come back online. Those 4 hours of play were not enjoyable due to the numerous bugs in the game.
-
Mar 6, 2013Servers are most likely down, you probably wont be able to play after you buy the game, No word from origin nor EA on the matter. Don't even bother making a city if you get in, it'll mostly likely be deleted when the servers go down again.
-
Mar 6, 2013
-
Mar 6, 2013Absolutely ridiculous drivel from a company that is always publicly patting themselves on the back. I will never ever buy another EA/Origin product again and will do anything I can to dissuade others from doing so, this is why people pirate software.
-
Mar 6, 2013I am sorry that I can't play like many reviewers at 12am. I am stuck playing at normal hours. By playing I mean trying to play. This game is BROKEN. I Can't log in. When I do log in I get dropped and I lose my progress. EA. them for RUINING what this game could be. You have nothing but disdain for your customers.

-
Mar 8, 2013the server is full, he give me a choice to choose another server but the save on new server is not sync, that mean you have to play a new game in every new server what a stupid design
-
Mar 6, 2013It just doesn't work. First you can not connect to the server, next is a stuck tutorial with no chance of completing it. So far no entertainment, only trouble.
-
Mar 6, 2013Electronic Farts. Because they destroyed another game. Without an offline option, stability can't be trusted. There are no excuses for this and people are right to be angry. If you're a shareholder, sell, quickly.
-
Mar 6, 2013There's simply no excuse for releasing this game in this condition. On the rare occasion that it connects to the server, I can play for about an hour before crashing to desktop. And good luck getting back on the server. The always online DRM is only slightly worse than the ridiculously small area given to build your city, the inability to save your game, and the horrendous traffic modeling.
-
Mar 6, 2013Can't install, then couldn't log in, then couldn't get tutorial, then couldn't get city claimed. The issues come and go in random order. I wish I never bought this game, I feel so stupid.

-
Mar 6, 2013The game itself is enthralling, however after nine hours I've only been able to play maybe twenty minutes. Additionally, the game crashed/forced exited and I lost my only city. The server delays errors are intolerable and the "always online" DRM is to blame.
-
Mar 6, 2013If you buy a singleplayer game and can't play on release day because of server issues, the game is basically defective. I would have been willing to stomach Online-DRM, but only if it actually worked. Customers should be no testbed for server architecture.
-
Mar 7, 2013Thanks to ridiculous Online requirement and no servers available, nobody can play the damn game and we have all been ripped off our cash and delivered nothing. Worst game ever!
-
Mar 6, 2013Massive step back for the franchise which reached its peak with SimCity 4. This release owes much more to the Sims in terms of concept and gameplay. Definitely not in the mold of a classic city simulator.
-
Mar 7, 2013The game itself seems fine, but it's been out for 2 days and I still can't play it because of the always online DRM. It's unacceptable for a single player game to use that kind of system.
-
Mar 7, 2013
-
Mar 7, 2013Unable to create city, I'm not even able to play the getting started scenario on this single player game because the server cant handle the load. The game might be great, but the launch is a utter and total failure. I understand the need for DRM to protect your investment, but preventing your paying customer to use the product is just silly.
-
Mar 7, 2013No way to even start it, I can't even reach the server selection. Don't buy this crap!No way to even start it, I can't even reach the server selection. Don't buy this crap!No way to even start it, I can't even reach the server selection. Don't buy this crap!

-
Mar 7, 2013always-on-drm is not acceptable in SimCity. EA killed the franchise. Played every SimCity-like game for hundrends of hours not buying this one because of EA stupid and greedy market practice. Its a shame, because maxis built a really nice sim engine.

Mar 7, 2013I'd love to give this game a good score, however as usual EA have b0rked the release. AU release late, costs more dollars than any other country, pre-load that doesn't pre-load anything, and now I can't actually play the game because there are no servers. Great work EA!

Mar 7, 2013I give this game a Zero I stupidly Pre ordered and paid in Advance 24 hours after release I have not been able to log onto to play what used to be a great Single Player Game
EA Destroying Sim City RIP a worst release than diablo III Congratulations. -
Mar 7, 2013This is completely unacceptable.. Unable to play a game I just bought, BECAUSE OF YOUR SERVERS EA! I've had enough of you and your cooperate ways of destroying everything good.. I DEMAND A REFUND!
-
Mar 7, 2013A huge fat 0 from me. Reason i can't play the game since the servers are down which really shouldn't be a problem in a single player game in the first place.
-
Mar 7, 2013
-
Mar 7, 2013Have yet to be able to actually play the goddamn tutorial. EA, if you want to implement always-online DRM, fine, but then YOU are responsible for providing enough F***ING SERVERS!! You had the sales numbers, the pre-orders, there is absolutely NO excuse for this!
-
Mar 7, 2013Such great decision to force always online requirement on Simcity, and now i can't even login to play singleplayer game, and im not only one. European release was botched also, no one can't play atm. Good job EA!
-
Mar 7, 2013Get ready not play, and if you do get to play you may randomly lose hours of progress. Online saves are the only type of save games and the servers crash A LOT...
-
Mar 7, 2013
-
Mar 7, 2013Just crap, bought it and still havnt been able to play it. No EA support getting bloody sick of having to start an account and download some crappy client with every game developer out there. Origin is and EA is a sell out.
-
Mar 7, 2013I think everything has been said, that needs to be said. Releasing a game in this state is a disgrace and a punch in the groin to all games and consumers alike. People should return their games and ask for a full refund and not let EA get away with it.

I play SimCity 4.
good -bye SimCity -
Mar 7, 2013Cant play single player because of the ridiculous DRM meaning that you cant play offline, had the game since release and only been able to have a few hours game time, then i got hit by the servers being full, to top that off i then tried to contact their shoddy costumer service, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
-
Mar 7, 2013
-
Mar 7, 2013Paid $99 for a deluxe edition of what is essentially an unplayable game. Toggling between different servers doesn't help. I either, a) could not connect or b) could not "claim" a city. Nice job EA, for treating your customers like criminals over the DRM stuff.
-
Mar 7, 2013Everything good about the simcity games removed and replaced with an unplayable multiplayer. No deep simulation, the best road layout is 1 snaking road with no intersections, glassbox is just a big cop out to produce a half arsed game. R.I.P Simcity.
-
Mar 7, 2013
-
Mar 7, 2013The game has a lot of problems. Only one of them actually matters. Never support always online DRM for a single player game. Lots of people cannot play their single player game because of this and gamers need to do everything they can to stop developers from including it.
-
Mar 7, 2013Attempting to play Sim City is a pointless waste of time. I wonder if EA is purposely trying to kill PC games by causing such an overwhelmingly poor experience. Sim City was looking like a sure fire hit, with excellent graphics and an enjoyable immersive world to create in. However it has become an absolute shambles which seems so unimaginably inept as to make me think it had to be intentional.
-
Mar 7, 2013Why zero for a rating you might wonder? Well, you cannot possibly rate a game any higher when it does not even allow you access to play. I would seek a refund but at the moment, it won't even allow me to log into Origin to set that into motion.
Lesson learnt, EA. Will henceforth avoid games that require an always on DRM component. -
Mar 7, 2013I managed to play the game last night and I was amazed on how amazing the game play is, BUT THIS ALWAYS ONLINE DRM thing is just terrible. I spend good hard earn money on this and they give me sever issues? This is just insulting!
-
Mar 7, 2013EA Games, destroy everything.
Permanent connection, less difficult, tiny maps... I was a big fan of SimCity, but I think we should turn the page now. -

Mar 7, 2013Sooner EA goes bust the better... EA represent everything wrong with the game industry. Guess what EA it is too late.... even if you do patch out the awful DRM
-
Mar 7, 2013
-
Mar 7, 2013Unplayable: always-on-DRM ruins a promising game. I would recommend to wait for EA/Origin to remove their broken DRM system; it only hurts paying customers.

Mar 7, 2013I am used to bad launches. However, there doesn't seem to be a single server that is working. Not being able to play a game I just payed for is the worst kind of launch. EA I want my money back.

Mar 7, 2013Please do not buy this game, the online only model is horrible. I tried to give it a chance, in essence to view it as an MMO game, but MMo's servers you can actually log in to play. I was able to play this game for a few hours, then nothing for two days so far. Vote with your money, tell EA that online only is BAD.
