    I always had mixed feelings about this game since it's just so different from the first 3, The story is very strange and somehow original, way more original than SH3 storyline. FInal veredict 8/10 this game tried something new and it just felt like something totally different than a SH game, not a bad game at all just really different, the story was ok but strange and the fear factor was lacking alot but it was there too. Overall a good SH game but far from being the best.… Expand

    Another crappy pc port just like 1 thru 3 with lousy camera angles and stupid controls. Making the game even more intolerable is the lack of a quick save and reload and predetermined save points. I played for an hour, went to the subway quit, came back, and had to start a new game. No save during all the wandering around in the apartments and crawling forever to get to the subway.     Lo único malo de este juego es el sistema de inventario y la escasa variedad de armas en comparación a entregas anteriores, el resto estuvo bastante bien.

    Terrible gameplay, thin and inconsistent story. Promises much but delivers nothing. Soundtrack is great but audio is poorly utilized so it is barely recognizable. Visuals are a disgrace compared to the earlier Silent Hill games. The horror elements have no meaning but are simply there to make you see horror. Rather replay an earlier Silent Hill games so you never have to witness this ****

    SH4 is a PIECE OF CRAP. Yeah I gave 3 for the graphics and the probably good story until now (I've just started). SH4 nightmare is its controls. NO, they aren't different and innovative and original or whatever..they are STUPID and ANNOYING. It's puzzling to me how could a game company release a game with that kind of controls.     A beautiful game scarred by trecherous controls. Thats possibly the only flaw of the entire game, the lousy gameplay and controls. How a small flaw can literally shread a game into pieces.

    The controls are utterly bungled, and the camera angles are worse. I walk around... looking at me! Not always, but way too often. And when I'm not looking at myself, the camera is often too close too really see my surroundings, or I'm viewing myself from the side rather than seeing into the distance.     I loved it, the story is dense and unique. The Controls are definitely clunky, I also managed to get the bad bad bad not good ending, which was rather frustrating. But hey, I really loved the experimental nature of this game, it's also just generally quite a challenging game to play. Overall, I found the whole experience to be incredibly frustrating and amazingly satisfying. I wellI loved it, the story is dense and unique. But hey, I really loved the experimental nature of this game, it's also just generally quite a challenging game to play. Overall, I found the whole experience to be incredibly frustrating and amazingly satisfying. I well absolutely return to this in the future, but for now I'm just glad I managed to complete it.

    Important to note that around 65% of the game is an escort esc mission, and the health percentage of that character informs the game's ending.    … Expand

Intruduces the world to great characters like Eileen that can stir up emotion from a stalker like creepiness to feeling of wanting to protect her. Walter Sulivans legend and story is one of the best and weirdest horror tales of all time.

    The game itself definently has a new feel for the franchise, there the fps perspective and a hub world. But that core japanese horror feel is in tact and its very good in terms of exploration combat ,etc. To this day its one of my favorite horror games.    … Expand

    Урезанный по полтергейстам порт на пк, некоторый контент отсутсвует, для полного погружения лучше играть в версию на ps2 либо ps3 через японский ps store, там у игры есть английский. Единственный плюс пк версии, это графика.

Later in the game it returns to the old patterns, the old riddles, the old sounds and the old graphics, the latter probably even older than the PS1. The controls are intentionally clumsy, the weapons near useless. If you have played the predecessors, SH4 starts promising but at a certain point it gets repetititve, boring, unrelated to the story and pointless. Most of the secret information is delivered in the very last moments, and you get a headache from it, if you don't ask yourself who delivered the diary sheets you always find under your door. The appartment building you're living in has its dark fleshy backside, but hey: It wasn't THAT large all the time you lived there.… Expand

    Si bien es cierto, se dejaron a parte muchos elementos originales de la saga, este juego logra profundizar en algunos aspectos de un personaje que se menciona en SH2, es el SH más distinto de todos y pese a que eso fue muy criticado, la verdad era algo que lo hace aún más interesante porque no solo logra respetar la lógica de los primeros tres títulos, si no que a su vez trata deSi bien es cierto, se dejaron a parte muchos elementos originales de la saga, este juego logra profundizar en algunos aspectos de un personaje que se menciona en SH2, es el SH más distinto de todos y pese a que eso fue muy criticado, la verdad era algo que lo hace aún más interesante porque no solo logra respetar la lógica de los primeros tres títulos, si no que a su vez trata de desprenderse de una tendencia que se empezaba a notar en la saga (cosa que fue criticada en SH3), además que para los juegos post Team Silent, esto ya es un gran mérito porque muchos de esos juegos trataban de emular lo visto en SH2 y otros solo recreaban (y de muy mala manera) lo visto en SH 1. Un juego muy infravalorado de la saga, pero sin duda el último buen título que salió de esta saga y un recomendable para cualquiera que le guste los juegos de terror.… Expand

    No entiendo muy bien porque critican este juego por su jugabilidad siendo que ningún Silent Hill sobresale en este aspecto, lo cual en cierto modo es parte de su encanto.

Sin lugar a dudas es su ambientación y su historia lo que más me llamó la atención y me hizo amarlo, personalmente lo considero mi favorito de la saga, porque es el que más me hizo sentir indefenso, el más desafiante y que tiene más lore.
    Lo que hizo Team Silent en este juego fue muy arriesgado, por todos los cambios que mencioné anteriormente, pero considero que precisamente esos cambios fueron los que le ayudaron a sobresalir y no ser como sus predecesores, caso contrario al 3 que se siente casi como lo mismo que jugamos en entregas pasadas. En conclusión, los cuatro primeros juegos son unas obras maestras y el 4 al ser diferente solo le quedarón dos opciones, ser amado u odiado.    … Expand

    - 2 Story: Its story is similar but interesting. Again, it is a story that can be deduced from different theories.
    - 3. Room concept: I like it very much. It's a really gloomy environment. The letters we got at the door. Looking through the door hole. Some paranormal happenings in the room. Regenerating our health when arriving in this room early in the game.

    As a result, I did not find what I expected. As I said, the puzzles are weak. And the levels repeat themselves. In particular, there were ghosts that made me tired of this game. Why did you make such a design? Still, it's not a bad game, but even though I've played the first 3 games many times, I'll probably play this game once.    … Expand

    This game is a shame. Attracted by the famous name "silent hill" I downloaded it but it really sucks and the "horror" scenes are funny.

    Silent Hill 4 might be the most underated and has the least deserving amount of hate out there.

    I can't explain it with words, but most people who hate on it haven't played it, i was one of those.

    Tasks as simple as wandering around are frustrated by the controls reversing as the camera angle jumps, while during the frequent combat bits you'll spend more time fighting with the clunking movement mechanism than with the denizens of Silent Hill.
