SimGolf does manage to provide a game that is especially simple to play and continues to be fun long after you've managed to turn a profit.

An all-round fantastic experience. It's got enough building to keep god-sim fans happy, enough interaction to keep Sims-fanatics interested, and enough detail for even the management freaks to have a damn good time.

While not revolutionary as other "Sim" games it does a great job of what it is supposed to do...a fun experience.

Its open- ended nature lets you mold the game into whatever you want it to be.

It streamlines the sport of golf so that you don't have to deal with any of it except the good stuff: hitting the ball and sinking shots. SimGolf's building and design elements are easy to use and surprisingly open-ended.

A wonderfully realized civilization-style management game, full of the joy of the game, with entreating graphics.

It has the magical ability to make hours melt away in gaming bliss without the player even really noticing the passage of time.

SimGolf was surprisingly good, however, and before I knew it, hours had passed and I was sitting on top of a small 9-hole course, screaming at my pro to sink a 5-foot putt.

It's a damn addictive game that will have you calling in sick to work and taking your meals at your computer.

A fun, inviting sim game that manages to do away with the hob-snobbery that usually surrounds golf. It's cleverly designed and is a good choice for strategic simulation fans.

A great sim. Players can create and manage easily and it has enough slapstick comedy to keep you entertained.

Another problem is the forced retirement at year 2050. Who came up with this hair-brained idea? I work my butt off, building 3 courses in my career, and then at the year 2050 I am FORCED to retire? Seems rather shortsighted to me. Luckily a beta patch removes this forced retirement restriction, but it should never have been there to begin with.

Almost infinitely replayable. The fact that its gameplay fits snugly into the difficult to achieve "simple-but-deep" category practically qualifies SimGolf as a barbiturate along the lines of "Tetris."

This game is so simple and easy to play that you’ll have a great golf course up and running in no time. In fact, crafting holes is the easy part; making them challenging and entertaining is where the difficulty arises.

The game plays incredibly well and allows beginners as well as pros to enjoy the game effortlessly.

Addictive, brilliant, and fun. It has an intuitive interface, charmingly simplistic graphics, and the relaxing yet relentless pacing that always denotes a Sid Meier game.

Incredibly addictive. You're constantly thinking of new ways to design a hole, new tricks to throw at the golfers, and new adjustments to increase the sims' enjoyment and challenge.

It delivers the gameplay in a unique way and it is so addictive that the box should have a warning.
