This game is hard. You need skill, and good control scheme knowledge to master it. But once you grab it - it's pure joy.
Yes - there are flaws, yes there are bugs. But I'm giving devs some credit.

Great game - i think it might be more than 8, if there was some additional content, or more thing to do.
but for an indie title - the first impression is AWESOME.

Waiting for online co-op, nonetheless it's cool game definitely worth playing. Polished graphics, soundtrack and voiceover makes it a little bit more than your average indie game!

I played the game with my brother and his girlfriend - it's fun, and you can send kisses with one of the characters!

In times where nostalgia hits hard and arcade museums are at their highest peak, this game is an absolute homerun. It is an amazing compromise between the old idea and new possiblities. It is an amazing compromise between the old idea and new possiblities. Gives you enough occasions to blow off steam while thinking about strategy and proper cooperation. The visuals are extremely eye pleasing, the controls are easy enough to learn in a short amount of time, but still complex that they never get boring and coming up with new attack combos becomes a lot of fun. This was definitely the game I was waiting for, perfect to come back home after work, imagine those demons are all those deadlines, briefs and nasty e-mails and you can just swiftly kick them in the ass. I really enjoy using all four characters all by myself, but also can't wait for the occasion to team up with some colleagues and give those monsters a proper whooping. Expand

Multiplayer on GOG has tech issues. Not really worth troubleshooting to play a subpar game.

SHING It tries something new and it is not just a gimmick , there is real nuance to the combat rarely seen in this style of game. The setting and combat reminds me of "Muramassa Blade" on the Wii, these games are quite different but they draw similarities with the beautiful setting and new way of control. "Shings" combat has you using the right stick for sword attacks and shoulder button for Block , dodges parries and jumping. At first it is a bit awkward but as the muscle memory kicks in you are soon pulling off ever increasingly impressive attacks. Combat requires precision timing, the right moves at the right times and as you start to learn how the stroke of the control stick works with the slice of you blade attacks become more effective and do more damage. Its a process of learning visual ques and reacting. You can not button mash through this game while progress just happens, this may turn more casual gamers off who are used to switching their brains off with similar types of games and that is a shame.
The other excellent part of SHING is surprisingly the writing and characters. These are not the safe PC friendly Saturday cartoon characters you would expect. The dialogue is mature and not afraid of being offensive, just like the old days. It is sometimes a bit cheesy but also often very funny.

Finally the game is beautiful, I am not a fan of the big character heads, but that is about it. Overall the character designs are great, cool warrior dudes and sexy ninjas chicks who dose not like that. Well I guess these modern day games journalists do seem to find females being represented as attractive to be offensive, but if your not one of them, check this game out.
I will be keeping an eye on this developer "Mass Creations" After this game. With good funding and the right backing I think this is a promising studio, I hope they go far.

Sexy, sultry ninjas and pretty vistas can't save this from being a mediocre brawler; one with a couple of good things to talk about, but mostly with plenty of flaws. The gameplay can get repetitive, and the action, while somewhat enjoyable, can soon turn into an irritating chore that has you multitask, in a game that doesn't really let you do so. Small tip for those who still want to try Shing! out (this does have sexy, sultry ninjas, after all): do avoid the default control scheme, and don't play it on your own under any circumstance.

Shing! manages to take the beat'em-up genre, throw in some fantastic ideas, and squander it all on a twin-stick combat system that convolutes what would otherwise be a solid combo-mashing sidescroller. There is still a lot to like about this game, but unless you really dig analog stick combat, you may want to pass on this one.

Shing! misses the mark of great beat 'em up by a long shot; which could have been avoided with more attention to detail. If Mass Creation put in the effort, it could have been one of the best beat 'em ups this generation. But we’re stuck with something too dull to take a bigger slice of that audience.
