Shin-chan: Shiro and the Coal Town

Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is agreeable when you’re performing fetch quests and grows enjoyable with its trolly cart racing component. But the deep-seated delight arrives when there’s no obvious goal and you’re just soaking up the splendid scenery. Here, exploring the Akita prefecture and a town of hospitable folks feels like a bathtub full of warm contentment.

Shin-chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is a fantastic adventure game in that it is laid back, funny, and easy enough to be enjoyed by just about everyone be they child or senior. You might not know who Shin-chan is, but don’t let that stop you from taking it easy and looking up once in a while.

I was pleasantly shocked at how much fun and relaxation I found in Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town. The only issue might just be the price point!

Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is another wonderful cosy game featuring that daft anime kid, and is a seriously relaxing experience.

Snowy in Carbonpolis is an adventure superior to Me and the Professor on Summer, although it still has problems, from an extreme simplicity to a somewhat slow and monotonous gameplay. But if you love the crazy universe created by Yoshito Usui, and you like Japanese culture, you have many chances to fall in love with it.

The successful execution of these elements is almost enough to distract you from the game’s highly basic and low-impact gameplay for a while, but not entirely. Even with the introduction of more minigames and narrative situations, the game remains a highly consistent experience for better and worse. Still, if Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town looks like a game for you, chances are good you’ll have a great time settling in and immersing yourself in its simplistic charm.

Perhaps a little too focused on fans of the series, the Shin chan experience can nevertheless be enjoyed by all.

Its visual section shines, leaving countless images of great beauty, and the charm of the anime and its characters is present. It would have benefited from more evolution compared to its predecessor, and more variety and depth of gameplay, but it is an interesting option if we are looking for a game with different “feeling” and we are fans of Shin Chan.

While some tasks might feel a bit mundane, the real joy comes from exploring this quirky world and meeting its eccentric characters.
