    As a hardcore oldschool fan i loved the original shadow warrior.So i had high hopes for the remake and it delivered.The gameplay is fun and is responsive.The engine feels awesome as every cut decapitates a body part of a demon!There are plenty of upgrades you can get for all the weapons.And there are skills to help you out if you get in trouble.The guns feel nice and are awesomeAs a hardcore oldschool fan i loved the original shadow warrior.So i had high hopes for the remake and it delivered.The gameplay is fun and is responsive.The engine feels awesome as every cut decapitates a body part of a demon!There are plenty of upgrades you can get for all the weapons.And there are skills to help you out if you get in trouble.The guns feel nice and are awesome looking.There are few cut scenes so you dont need to worry about the flow. The story is pretty interesting too. I had very few problems with this game,One of which is No map.The game has a bit of backtracking sometimes and is quite confusing at times.Maybe a minimap or something would've helped.And the other problem i had was that the game was sometimes a tad bit repetitive.The game has a nice sense of humor and i liked it.The gameplay felt really satisfying and awesome but i mostly liked the sword play other than the gunplay its just my personal preference. Despite some flaws i think flying wild hog did an excellent job with Shadow Warrior and for the price tag of 25 i think it is 100% worth the price.So if you are an oldschool fan you will love this game.… Expand

    Got to admit, when i startet i thought "meh, this game will suck".Surprisingly, this game is fun!But lets get into detail:

    Sound:That is for me the great part.While the music is ok to good, the voiceacting is really great.The 2 main characters travel together and they will argue and/or mock each other all the time.Really funny.Sometimes its like Deadpool.Writing is great too, every joke will hit you like a gunshot.There are not that many other characters in the game, but all of them are good.Weaponsounds are ok, the rocketluncher could sound more powerful.

    Gameplay:Solid gunplay!Every weapon is useable, even the pistol youll get first.Every weapon can be upgraded, really nice.Some of these upgrades may be too strong, but thats not an issue in a game like this i think.There is a system in place thats rewards you with stars(or shurikens)for fights.I havent figured out if you get a high ranking for fast kills or when you deversify your kills.Find out for yourself.But its fun, youll get bonus karma that way.Karma is one of three ressources in the game you can use to upgrade you skills or weapons.You can use a sword and learn new techniques for it for example.You can learn ways to heal or protect yourselfe or passiv things like finding more money and so on.The progression is steady and enjoyable.

    All in all this game is fun.The last 10 games ive played bored me so im glad this piece of joy came around the corner.If you can ignore the visuals youll get a game that entertains you for days with a solid gameplay and funny jokes.    … Expand

    So repetitive and boring. Waste of time and money! Way too long, the first 6-7 levels maybe you think the game is quite OK but then you understand you're playing the same level again and again. 17 LEVELS! SEVEN-****-TEEN! Way too much, believe me.

    A good idea let down by "yet again" horrible usability. If I will remember the last couple of years in gaming for anything its morons implementing truly "awful" user interfaces.

    The multiple keyboard/mouse combinations required of this game to execute different techniques to kill opponents are hard to achieve, hurt your hands and worse still make playing what is supposed to be a fast    A good idea let down by "yet again" horrible usability. If I will remember the last couple of years in gaming for anything its morons implementing truly "awful" user interfaces.

    Combine this with horribly unbalanced game play, poorly though through combat environments and you have a recipe for frustration not fun.

    This game is sooo great! It can be seen that developers put their heart and soul into it. The game mechanics are also working surprisingly well. It's great to play an FPS game which not treat the player as a retard.

    The best way to describe this game would be part-Bulletstorm and part-Duke Nukem 3D, with some ninjas thrown in for good measure. There's murder. There's samurai swords. And there's not one, but two snarky protagonists. This game is, in essence, a modern shooter whilst still retaining the essence of the classic shooter - plenty of mindless shooting, but also expansive and open levels toThe best way to describe this game would be part-Bulletstorm and part-Duke Nukem 3D, with some ninjas thrown in for good measure.     Very fast paced and fun (casuals might disagree)
    Very optimized 60+fps amazing visuals etc unlike most AAA games these days.

The bosses actually have like the same mechanic (shoot the glowing armour then shoot the gems) but there is always something different. The story is decent. It starts off like a comedy action movie, but as you progress it gets less funny and more serious, to the end where just...I'll stop right there and let you cry when you see it.     This game is extremely good ,however this is not your typical fps. It leans more towards rewarding exploration so if you do not want to explore and find all the money and secrets...TURN AWAY because you will not last long. Weapons that are not the katana are weak at first but once you get upgrades then you will be able to use the weapons more frequently. It is a very good game but compared to painkiller or Serious Sam this is the inferior game, but for the price on steam it is worth the money. Enjoy and also ignore the negative scores because the issues that are brought up are by: the game runs bad (thinking their computer is better than it is) , Hard difficultly (playing it like its cod on a difficulty for players who have beaten it many times) or the simple fact that they say its gets boring and the guns are not that good which these are both true in the first hour. so don't let that turn you away.     After playing through most of the game I have come to 2 conclusions , this game has very poor control and this game has EXTREMELY POOR direction to the player , when someone is forced to re-run cleared content for 30-45 min looking for the correct door to enter to go to the next area is just bad design , this game gets a 10 / 10 easy if a review was only based on graphics but the brokenAfter playing through most of the game I have come to 2 conclusions , this game has very poor control and this game has EXTREMELY POOR direction to the player , when someone is forced to re-run cleared content for 30-45 min looking for the correct door to enter to go to the next area is just bad design , this game gets a 10 / 10 easy if a review was only based on graphics but the broken overall design of this game makes it really unenjoyable , hard to play and you WILL get sick of getting lost even with a video walkthrough and drawing your own maps , so prepare for a trial in frustration should you purchase this game.

    Other than its moderate focus on melee combat, it's not particularly different from any other shooter in the genre. There's a normal number of levels with a normal number of enemies. There are a handful of weapons that you're encouraged to switch between because otherwise you'll run out of ammo, and if you're like me you want to get the weapon-specific achievements.

    I understand the original is completely off the wall and tongue-in-cheek. This game starts out that way but eventually becomes oddly serious, so that comes across like a tone issue to me.

    Muy buen precio, buenos gráficos, la jugabilidad es muy divertida y espectacular. La historia es muy mala pero en un juego así no se puede pedir mas. En lo personal me aburrí muy rápido y sufrí para continuarlo, estos tipos de juegos no son lo mio.

    Amé cada pequeño aspecto de este juego. Amo su ambientanción gráfica, amo las voces de los personajes y sus dialogos y personalidades carismáticas. Amo que puedas mejorar las armas parte por parte, amo poder subir de nivel y repartir puntos de habilidad, y amo que ademas de estas 2 cosas haya otra seccion para los poderes donde puedes ir obteniendo cada uno con cristales de KI que teAmé cada pequeño aspecto de este juego.     Como si esto fuera poco, la historia es muy buena, practicamente impecable en cada aspecto. El juego resalta en Gore, Accion, Comedia, Rol, Etc.
    Tiene modos de dificultad MUY interesantes y bastante dificiles incluso para jugadores veteranos, (como es mi caso).

    No puedo esperar para jugar a al segunda parte, la cual ya de por si está teniendo una aceptacion increiblemente buena por parte de los jugadores. Espero que Lo Wang pueda seguir con nosotros un largo tiempo, pues este personaje me ha agradado en una medida que no creía posible.    … Expand

    Graphically nothing to write home to about, but a solid music score sets up some good ambiance. I think this game just pips the DooM reboot to the post for this style of mass mayhem and carnage. Never had so much fun slicing and dicing with a sword like I have had in this game. The option of upgradeable, powers, weapons and abilities helps to improve the mass mayhem and carnage. The game is fluid and without any bug;

    Graphics: Good. Nothing impressive. Fits well with the role.

    History: Complicated. I particularly had a hard time understanding the story behind each character and the main reason why the main character is behind gathering the parts of the katana. I found all the characters very superficial, except the main one, in which, due to the narrative, you begin to identify.

    Final grade: 8.2

    Summary: It's a game that surprised me and held me for many hours. It's a lot of fun and makes you want to play more and more. Worth buying the game.    … Expand

    Completed the game from first try on insane It was tough not from the hardest difficulty but because of boring gameplay. Enemies are repeated and bosses too. Guns are weak, deals zero damage, katana is overpowered especially the W+W+Left Mouse combo.
    Lots of texture stucking bugs and desync of subtitles. Геймплей приятный, хорошо проработана бойовка от 1-го лица, я практически всю игру прошел с катаной в руке только боссов мачил огнестрелом. Сюжет прост и примитивен, хотя стоит учесть то что для таких игр это характерно. Обычные боты довольно часто попадаются тугие и не убиваемые, хотя если мочить тупо долго,Достаточно хороший слэшер. Когда кажется уже наигрался, кромсать хочется дальше. Геймплей приятный, хорошо проработана бойовка от 1-го лица, я практически всю игру прошел с катаной в руке только боссов мачил огнестрелом.     This game is amazing.

    On its own, the combat is fantastic, the graphics and scenery can be gorgeous at points, and the story is highly engaging. There's a lot of hectic action, good pacing, and a pretty decent length (took me around fifteen hours to beat). Beyond that, this game was made by fans of the original. That you can tell. There are secret areas patterned off the first game,    This game is amazing.

    On its own, the combat is fantastic, the graphics and scenery can be gorgeous at points, and the story is highly engaging. There's a lot of hectic action, good pacing, and a pretty decent length (took me around fifteen hours to beat).

    Beyond that, this game was made by fans of the original. That you can tell. There are secret areas patterned off the first game, this game includes several pop-culture references, including some in hidden areas. The multitude of enemies and fast pace gameplay is more reminiscent of FPS games before the jump to 3D, when they could actually have more things on the screen at once. There's some callbacks as well (the rabbits, for example), and it does give us the story as to why Zilla is so upset with Lo Wang in the first game.

    The game is not without fault though. My biggest complaint would be some of the very repetitive level design. You'll see some of the same building designs in the early and late game. Mind you, it does make a bit of sense that areas designed by the same person (in game person, Zilla), would have a similar look and feel. Plus, those building designs are actually taken from the original game. So I can forgive it, but that doesn't make it any less redundant.

    The boss fights are also the typical hunt the weak spot grindfests. Though there is some interesting bits here and there in them. Also, none of the weapons truly stood out in my mind. Other than the weapons taken from the original, they seemed to be basic shooter fare. And some weapons I pretty much never bothered using. Mostly, I stuck to the sword early game, and then had to mix it up a bit more later on.

    In the end though, even with the complaints, I had more fun with this game than I've had in a while. So I highly recommend it.    … Expand

    Играл в эту игру давно на пк, но помню что получил удовольствие от игры. Это мясной шутер где вы можете крушить врагов начиная с катаны и заканчивая гранатометом. Из минусов можно выделить местами неудобное управление и частое пойди поищи тотемы которые находятся хрен пойми где.
    P.S Берегитесь черных кроликов они самые страшные враги в этой игре.    Играл в эту игру давно на пк, но помню что получил удовольствие от игры.     This is a great game, I haven't completed it yet. I've only played a level or two (which are long) but what I can say is that this game is worth buying for $/£20 at most. The way you can chop enemies up into pieces with the sword are phenomenal, there are secrets, you have to backtrack a little bit, the levels are long and a bit little complex with secrets, it's fantastic.     At first watching the trailers, I was skeptical. But now I'm in chapter 4 and I've never had so much fun with latest FPS games like this one. Visceral, gory, beautiful and not taking itself too seriously is how to describe this game. Oldskool level designs and just plain, fast actions everywhere. Also the swordplay is very satisfying.     At first watching the trailers, I was skeptical. But now I'm in chapter 4 and I've never had so much fun with latest FPS games like this one. Visceral, gory, beautiful and not taking itself too seriously is how to describe this game.

    Oldskool level designs and just plain, fast actions everywhere. Also the swordplay is very satisfying. Unlike the original Shadow Warrior on Dos, your katana plays bigger role here, and most of the time it's more fun to use than the firearms.

    Character progression, upgrades, etc. Giving you the sense of accomplishment when you upgrade your gear and spells.

    Secrets, secrets everywhere.

    The Bad :

    No multiplayer? Oh well, but what do you expect. This game is pure blast anyway. If it's ended up like Rise of the Triad reboot, which has multiplayer slapped in just to for the sake of having multiplayer mode, then it'll be such a waste too. Besides, nobody plays ROTT reboot now. So it's just minor complain. I figure it would be awesome with the sword dueling and fast paced, quake like deathmatch.

    Lack of optimizations in couple of areas. The framerate got dragged down in several areas. But overall the game is quite smooth. Seems that the particles are very heavy in this game's engine. So I set it to low. Didn't see much difference and the game is still a blast.

    Hopefully they do further optimizations for this game in form of patches.

    No over-the-top racist jokes like the original. No funny exaggeratted asian accent, also no nudity hentai like in the original game. Lo Wang lose some of his charms, the comments aren't as funny as the original, but somehow it's still have light racist humors. They should've kept the original Lo Wang's personality. Don't get me wrong, I'm chinese and I love the original game's humor so much I eve lol'ed lots when I play the game.

    Bottomline is... what are you waiting for? Do yourself a favor... get this game.    … Expand

    This is just old-fashioned action. Combat is a bit monotonous, but funny. Ranged combat is a bit useless, rushed the game with my katana and it was really bloody and funny. The humour of this game is what makes it so interesting. really reminded me of 80s movies.

    Now, there are a few problems in terms of gameplay. First of all, it's very linear, you have a strict leveldesign that you have to follow. It basically feels like being in a corridor. Also, the enemies are some dumb demons that run in your direction trying to deal damage (only a very few exceptions), and playing on "HARD" you'll find that spamming LMB is very effective and can be used many situation against nearly every enemies. This made the fights rather uninteresting.
    Also, it's not quite an oldschool shooter, you have for example a healing power you can use any time which is basically regenerating health.

    Now the reluctant hero must become legend through a masterful combination of gun, blade, magic and wit to uncover the truth behind the demonic invasion and banish evil back into the darkness. A great revival of an old, crazy game and a very pleasant, fast FPS providing many hours of enthusiastic mouse torture.

    As with Flying Wild Hog’s previous title, Hard Reset (great, 4/5) SHADOW WARRIOR is a whole lot of riotous fun. Like it’s predecessor, it’s an old-school shooter, but with SW we get the added fun of melee combat. And that’s basically what SW is all about: katana mayhem. It also shares much of the mechanics and gameplay tropes of the earlier game, and that’s all to the good as well. It differs from Hard Reset in some areas, however, most notably with the variety of weapons and the more conventional upgrade system and skills tree. There’s also a stronger story, although it is a tad incoherent at times. There are some very cool cutscenes, but they’re used sparsely and never intrude but do help to flesh out the story. And there’s also plenty of amusing, deliberately cheesy, dialogue to enjoy. Graphically, SW is one of the most stunning games I’ve come across, and it also delivers some impressive physics. It’s not open world, as is de rigueur these days, but its linearity keeps the story, and the game progression, on the rails and never detracts from the fun.     Shadow Warrior is highly 90’s in a very good way. Pace is fast, health kits are in, guns are powerful, action is great, puns are bad and there is lot of flying blood and boy parts. The letdown is level design: they are too bland. [Nov 2013]
