Gundam Battle Alliance was indeed a nice surprise: an encyclopedic collector's list of the most famous series dedicated to Tomino's creature, told through a combat system that is easy to assimilate and deep enough. However, the simplicity of the game scheme and its repetitive nature do not make it suitable for everyone, making it a niche game for those who like to waste hours on games like Monster Hunter.

After years of arena fighters and lackluster sequels, like New Gundam Breaker, Battle Alliance feels like the breath of fresh air the franchise needed in video games. It’s a love letter to one of the most prolific anime franchises out there, but even if you aren’t a Gundam fan there’s a great action RPG underneath, with a surprising amount of variety. Between its deceptively fun original story and dynamic combat, it’s absolutely a standout in the crowded market of anime games.

The pros and cons of SD Gundam: Battle Alliance are very obvious. The flexible use of anime memes and sound tracks makes this game satisfaction for anime fans. But the questionable battle system, and the weak cultivation gameplay, let this game worse than previous Gundam series games.

Action, strategy and role-playing! While being aimed at fans of the animated series, SD Gundam Battle Alliance is probably one of the best gateways to getting started in the Mobile Suit Gundam universe.
  5. SD Gundam Battle Alliance is primarily a game that Gundam fans will definitely love. Not big fans, on the other hand, may get bored with the game in a short time due to the repetitive gameplay and the need to grind.

With eternally stagnant, overly repetitive combat with subpar lock-on to boring, tiny levels, SD Gundam Battle Alliance is a substantial step down from the quality of Artdink's PSP classics.
