The biggest problem in this game is the combat, it feels stiff, repetitive and unsatisfying. The raiment (grapple) goes in 8 directions instead of going around you freely, which feels *awful*. "Exploring" areas doesn't feel satisfying, you're just checking objectives off as you fight enemies that feel like they came out of a 20 year old game.

The rice farming stuff is incredibly tedious for no reason. Dedicated farming games don't make it this tedious, why did they do it like this here? Not bad, but not for me.

This game has VERY big problem of grinding and is too repetitive.
The bestiary is too small, same bunnys, boars and birds all the game.
Combat looks good and i should be good, but again, feels repetitive.
Bosses are very forgettable since you can just spam attack, i never really need it to learn their pattern.
The Rice part get boring really fast after a couple of years.

combat control in this game is so uncomfortable. command inputs, for example, → + B is not only working when you input that at the same time but also works when you hold → button and input B button. that's just an example. there's too many bad things about combat controlling system in this game. the main content is do farm work for rice but they give you a very little clue about growingcombat control in this game is so uncomfortable. command inputs, for example, → + B is not only working when you input that at the same time but also works when you hold → button and input B button. that's just an example. there's too many bad things about combat controlling system in this game. the main content is do farm work for rice but they give you a very little clue about growing rice properly. and the game is real-time system that was kinda stress Expand

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a charming little title with a mix of beat em’ up platforming and lite Harvest Moon-esque mechanics. Visuals are bright and colorful; the music is pleasing to listen to. The real meat n’ potatoes are in cultivating rice and the small interactions between characters. Visuals are bright and colorful; the music is pleasing to listen to. The real meat n’ potatoes are in cultivating rice and the small interactions between characters. Cultivating rice isn’t as simple as planting and leaving it alone until it’s ready to harvest; no, you have to understand how soil, weather, disease, etc. can affect the quality of your crop, ultimately affecting the stats you get from them. What I really loved the most is the interactions and round dinner conversations between all the characters creating this meaningful relationship between everyone.

The game ain’t perfect though. Sure, the combat is flashy and fun to pull off combos, but man, does it also feel incredibly clunky and unintuitive. There are quite a few mechanics in how to properly cultivate rice, but none of it is really explained to you. Does that leave the game open to experimentation and for you to figure out? Sure, but even the simplest mechanics can leave you confused.

Bottom line, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a fantastic game and is well worth your time and money. Even if you don’t care about the farming aspect, you still have the action platforming and exploration to dig into to. I highly recommend it!

El juego es bonito y es sencillo, ideal para relajarse después de los survival horrors.

Directamente le doy un 10 también por excluir a España de sus traducciones, ya era hora que recordaran que Hispanoamérica tiene más potencial e importancia.

It is a good game as it provides a good chance for me to learn more about agriculture and cultivation. However, the prices on Steam is too high for Chinese players. And its control is mainly designed for controllers, so it is difficult to control using keyboard.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin works well on all levels. The action segments are a treat thanks to their fast pace, since they deliver an experience that matches up with other fast-paced action titles. The farming segments are interesting because they're so involved and go into so much detail that the title surpasses all but the most dedicated farming simulator titles. When combined, the experience is fantastically balanced — provided you can deal with the slower overall progression rate. In the end, Sakuna is a great title that delivers on a unique experience.

An innovative genre mix that excels in both the rice-simulation as well as in the fast-paced 2D combat. The real time aspect can be a little pressuring, but the charming presentation and a surprisingly high level of complexity make Sakuna a game worth your time.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a surprise only for those who don't know other Edelweiss games.
