Ruzar the life stone is a classical dungeon RPG in the old style. It is made in style like Legend of Grimrock. For those who do not know, it is a dungeon role-playing game where the main character is going through various underground tunnels or outside locations, killing enemies and leveling up a character. For those who do not know, it is a dungeon role-playing game where the main character is going through various underground tunnels or outside locations, killing enemies and leveling up a character. Right in the beginning I must say that Ruzar is much worser than Grimrock, comparing to the number and types of enemies, fighting style, and game mechanics. Still, I'm glad I could play the game.
You start in the winter weather in some outdoor maze of corridors. You play as a single hero. You can specialize in close combat (swords, axes, hammers), ranged combat (crossbows and bows), or magic. These styles can also be combined, but I must say that I didn't use magic or ranged weapons. The problem with bows is that after every shot you lose an arrow that you can not pick up so you quickly run out of it. With sword one can deal damage all the time and I finished the game like that. In the beginning the game seems to be pretty good and interesting, but when half of the game passes, you know all the tricks and game mechanics, and nothing new can surprise you.
The number of types of monsters is quite limited (about 10). They are challenge perhaps the first 30 minutes, and then you go through the play like a knife through butter. The enemies are very slow. Puzzles are also trimmed to a minimum, and I wondered if anyone makes game like this, why he doesn't make it more detailed? Almost all the time you have to solve where to find an item to put into alclove and where you can find a stick to make a lever, and of course some platforms and teleports. The worst part is that the authors were inspired by Grimrock, where one had to fall into the pits, which I think is nonsense. pits have always served as a trap or punishment when a player messed up something. Here one can not even climb the hole with a rope, but one must fall into it because it often contains must have item.
The principal of the items, skills and purchases at merchant is also limited and I beated the game only with two swords and two types of armor. Despite all the negatives I am gald I could play this game, because there is always lack of dungeons. But to be honest, some time before the the last fight with bosss came, I was wondering if there is finally an end coming, because I was bored.… Expand
