    I've been playing runescape since 2002 and I've had blast with it. The game play is simple anyone can play it. The quests are actually quests not like Wow where you have to go kill 10 boars. Lots of updates and always have in-game holiday items every year.

    Runescape is a game I grew up playing. The different quests you have to do are ALL good stories and are enjoyable to play. The runescape world itself is very unique and is very recognizable. There are different cities you go to with shops, real people to talk to, to train your skills at. I would recommend this game to anyone.

    Fun game, tons of game play and an amazing story behind it. The quests in this MMORPG stand out above all other games of its genre. They are not typical "fetch me x amount of this item" or "kill x amount of these creatures". The music is phenomenal and the art style is enjoyable. Cheap to play and very entertaining!

    Well I was lookign at other games on here and seen where I could review my runescape that I play.
    I have been playing runescape for around 13 years now.That is a really long time.I have over 1 year in actual in game time.

    People on here aint even mentioning that jagex has started a new poll that lets rthere players pick the next upcoming update.
    And the simpel fact that they have even admited they made a huge mistake and are asking the players how to make it better.And get this people they are actually listening!
    Look the game does not even have to be downloaded.It takes only a few minutes to load in your browser.

    Awesome game as everyone says tons of gameplay and it feels kind of like world of warcraft. The game can be repetitive but it is fun to play once in a while. This game is like a breath of fresh air every time I play.

    This game is terrible, if you play this game you are a waste of space and time, and you might as well be one of those Junior Edits scrub. Get a real game like Call of Duty or any other games made by them. GOML

    Best MMO, you will be hooked with ton's of things to do, including hundreds of quests, variety of mini games and 20 skills to raise. All of this along side a vast world with many iconic locations. Recommend this to anyone.

    Many people think this game is bad because of graphics, but they are wrong, RS was made with Java for everybody to play, at least the game is a little confusing, but its social interation and story is the focus of the game, you also have to manage 25 habilities.     Wonderful Lore.
    An insane variety of skills to level up.
    No shortcuts. All Grind. This is the game that you can play for a life time.

    Probably the first game I ever truly fell in love with back in roughly 2005-2006. Find myself coming back year after year lol OSRS is amazing too! (less p2w)

    te permite jugar gratis a parte del contenido para probar si te gusta o por si algún mes no pagas y con dinero del juego puedes pagarte la membrecía (de hecho muy fácil pagarte la membrecía permanentemente con dinero del juego), aunque con dinero real no es muy caro (el que se queja en los comentarios por que es "caro" es un tarado). tiene contenido variado desde misiones bastantete permite jugar gratis a parte del contenido para probar si te gusta o por si algún mes no pagas y con dinero del juego puedes pagarte la membrecía (de hecho muy fácil pagarte la membrecía permanentemente con dinero del juego), aunque con dinero real no es muy caro (el que se queja en los comentarios por que es "caro" es un tarado). tiene contenido variado desde misiones bastante elavoradas, diferentes pvps, matar bosses, entrenar habilidades... la comunidad es muy buena así que puedes tener un grupo de amigos en un clan social (también hay clases competitivos)
    es muy personalizable así que si no te gusta tu armadura, puedes ponerte una skin (que se pueden conseguir gratis en eventos o pagando), puedes modificar mucho los grágicos y las opciones de juego.
    se puede jugar en el móvil.
    es imposible que te hackeen (el que comentó que le hackearon es porque o su contraseña era del estilo de 1234, porque introdujo su contraseña donde no debió o porque se la dio a un "amigo") ya que el juego te permite tener además de la contraseña, un pin en el banco y una validación en dos pasos.
    los gráficos no son demasiado cargados y no te cansan la vista, no son una maravilla, pero están bastante bien. y si te gusta lo retro, tienes runescape old school (que comparte membrecía con el actual) y si te gustaba runescape 2 puedes activar el modo legacy e irte a un servidor donde solo esté permitido este modo (lo digo por otro tarado de los comentarios)
    para el tarado que dice que el juego es más fácil ahora y por eso no le gusta: llegar al 99 en los skills es más fácil, pero es que ahora el nivel máximo de los skills es 120. conseguirte un full dragon (y equivalentes) ahora está tirado, pero es que ahora esa armadura es de noobs... ¿es fácil conseguirse una elite armour y ponerle las mejores perks? pero si antes era más fácil conseguir la mejor armadura... y si quieres mayor dificultad, tienes el modo ironman y el super ironman... la gente no es más tarada porque no se entrena...    … Expand

For a game so cheap (in fact, you can play a lot of it for free!) with a company so small in budget and size, it sure has worked miracles in the 20 years of its history. 10/10.… Expand

    Where Runescape differs is not that its not grindy (its very grindy) or that you can pay to unlock cool stuff (there is a lot of cool stuff) but that it does it in a way that is not mandatory. When i first started playing way back in 2008 the game was simple easy to understand and an all round good game, but after a while it did falter i mean grinding became more intensive and paying for membership was kinda a pain at times but the core game was still alive, i just wish i had not taken a long 4 year break think of all the things i could have accomplished.

    When i did return the game was different but in my experience not all for the good reasons, i mean there was a graphic overhaul and some new awesome items and a bunch of other stuff, but the grinding was still major and buying PAID membership unlocked the rest of the FREE game it kinda puts veteran players who have played for sometime seem cheated and for those who cant afford membership makes them think "why did i even bother making a character if now i cant afford my level 80 attack gear".

    As a final verdict, i wont hate on this game in fact i wont hate at all, its a game i will keep playing because why ditch something that you've spent so long playing, but grind grind grind and pay pay pay can sometime lead to die die die for a game.    … Expand

    unfortunately not as good as Old School Runescape, but still a wonderful game. has an epic lore and "story-type" quests as well. i started playing in 2018 (i don't play it very much though) yet i enjoy it. (lots of people say you had to have played in 2007 if you actually like it!)

    I don't know why everyone hates this game and recomends OSRS. That game is old and kinda hard and botted, but this, i've seen a couple bots but not that many, than OSRS. I play it everyday and I enjoy it. The membership isn't that inportand than in OSRS and you can have fun without it.

    Although not as good as Rs2 and 07' Scape Runescape 3 added alot of new content and fresh new story to the game. As a player since 2007 Runescape 3 is by no means bad. Its just nothing like the original feel and thats okay. It still manages to keep its essence and is still addicting in every way. Beware you will lose years of your life if you get into this game it is that addicting.

    Graphics and Audio: The graphics are the main reason behind me not giving it a 10 or 9, they are mediocre. The graphics works well for a browser game but some more quality for the downloadable version would be great.
    The music is full om emotion, both in happy and sad times and really give quests and areas more life, great job there.

    But i do not really approve of the newly introduced micro transactions, they devalue the game for the active and loyal older playerbase.

    But i want to finish with something good, the updates are common, they are free, and even if you have no interest in a subscription the free version is worth checking out, it has most of the skills and can give you a year or two of exciting gameplay.
    Jagex makes all updates free, they introduce new content all the time, unlike a certain other game which makes you pay for updates and expansions (you know what game i am talking about).

    Graphics and audio: The audio has had a beautiful overhaul on many tracks in RS3 compared to most of the compressed program audio to RS2, full of emotion and spirit to help you get into a game; graphics look amazing with html5 (currently usable via google chrome) but are sadly rather lacking for the java scripts that are forced a graphical cap.

    Community: community is rather split, with the oldschool servers (outdated back to 2007) and the live game, the community has somewhat little respect for the opposite sides, several people are nice, but some parts of the community can be BEYOND immature.

    Updates and membership fees: there is BEYOND YEARS of content in the members world, with brilliant story lines, access to dozens of sets of new armours and weaponry, hundreds of quests, and free updates with no DLC's as the game updates itself for you either monthly or weekly. Downside is the microtransactions, let's be honest here: NO ONE likes microtransactions

    Graphics: Runescape 3 has a few key differences from Runescape 2, most notably the graphics system. Runescape 3 utilizes cell-shaded polygon-type visuals to produce extremely pleasing graphics that even hardcore players can commend. The issue with the graphics system is that, because it's so intense, it requires A LOT of bandwidth to enjoy. Even players with top-notch gaming rigs will have issues processing this game if their internet connection is even slightly subpar. Despite this, the graphics are fantastic for a 3rd party title. It should also be noted that the soundtracks in this game are great.

    Gameplay: Runescape 2 recieved a lot of criticism for it's gimicky and outright cheesy storyline implementations later in it's run, and Jagex hasn't improved on that at all. The story is extremely gimicky, and the tutorial levels are extremely tedious. While the introductory phases are necessary to thoroughly enjoy the game, Runescape 3 does little to impress those who are into the lore of games, and these intro levels will definitely make sceptical players turn their heads away from this game completely. Following the intro, however, the game takes off into an extremely vast do-as-you-please world, in which you can quest, level skills, take part in PvP, and enjoy all the other great RPG features this game has to offer. My own personal complaint is that, as a returning player, a lot of level requirements for items I worked tirelessly to get have changed and I can no longer use many of these valuable items. Bummer.

    Community: Without a doubt, the reason for Runescape's declining popularity is definitely it's community. While some are easy-going and mature players, many (most) are immature young kids who really bring down the game. In the past year or so, however, what with Runecape's less idiot-friendly interface, the community is making it's way back up.

    Hardcore or Casual?: Definitely casual. Don't get me wrong, you can play this game for hours and hours, but odds are you won't be really into it for much longer than two hours at a time.

    Bottom Line: Runescape 3 is a huge improvement over Runescape 2, and I personally enjoy playing it. Are there issues? Of course. Every game has issues, and that goes double for indie games. But for an indie release, this game definitely brings more to the table than to be expected of a typical web browser game.    … Expand

    In the game you can train many different skills that ranges from level 1-99 and in 1 particular skill you can get to level 120.     I am very impressed about the new graphics they have managed to make in this game because it is all browser running, but compared to the newer downloadable MMORPG's the graphics is not that impressive.
    You can play this game for free and get to play in a "limited" part of the world of Runescape, or you can choose to pay for membership and get access to everything within this game.

    I will now create a little list of stuff that you can actually do within the world of Runescape:

    Skills - At the moment there is 26 different skills that is possible to train to level 99, however one of the skills is possible to get to level 120. - There is still coming new skills to the game so there might be more skills in the future.

    Quests - As of today there is currently 195 different quests that you can try to complete, where 24 of the quests is free to play quests and 171 other quests you have to be a member to complete.

    Minigames - There are some different minigames within Runescape. Some of them are team based minigames, others are solo minigames and there is also some minigames where you are against other players.

    Monsters/Combat - There is a lot of different monsters within runescape, and the monsters variate to all level players. The monsters can be killed by using 3 different combat styles - Melee, Ranged & Magic.
    There are also some high level boss monsters that players can kill alone (or with teammates) to get some of the best gear within the game.

    GOOD:

    Dual combat system: Recently, Jagex have added a mode that replicates the feel of the "old Runescape's" combat system. Players can also freely interchange between "Legacy Mode" and the "EOC Mode (ie. abilities)" on the fly as well as play on the same servers. For most tasks however, EOC mode is the one you want to go with.

    Macroing: As recently as 2011, the game used to be absolutely infested with macros/gold farming accounts. Ever since mid-2013 however, RS3 has been almost completely devoid of macroing. Jagex have managed to develop cutting edge, anti-macro software that catches and bans the vast majority of macros within a few days. Spambots advertising illegitimate gold selling websites, due to their disposable nature, can still be seen in many areas on the free game since new accounts can begin unrestricted chat. Even so, the volume is still considerably lower than it used to be.

    Quests: Unlike most MMOs, RS3's quests are phenomenal and actually make you feel like you're actually interacting with the game on a much more profound level. With over 200+ in game so far, they're arguably the best aspect of the game.

    Open class system: There are main "classes" in Runescape; Archers (called "rangers), Warriors, and Mages. Players can max out their combat skills without any penalty or restriction save the time needed to level them. Auxiliary skills like Prayer and Summoning are likewise accessible for all.

    Skills/Economy: Combat isn't necessarily the main focus of the game; there's just as much emphasis on mining for some ore, smelting it at a furnace, and smithing the bars into weapons and armour. Performing actions like these also increases a player's level in their relative skills, which allows you to use better tools, mine better ore and craft better weapons which can be traded with players freely and effortlessly across servers via the Grand Exchange.

    Pay-through play: Like EVE online, you can purchase items called Bonds which can be instantly redeemed for membership time, currency for the in-game store and even for tickets to the game's version of Comicon (dubbed "Runefest) held annually since 2010 in the UK. Earning the cash for one can take several hours of arduous labor, even for veterans playing on new accounts.

    Cons:

    Performance - The graphics are pretty cartoonish, and not of the best quality as Runescape is a browser game. You can however, download a 60 MB game client from the website that will increase perfomance a bit. There is an HTML5 version available, but it's been in beta for over a year due to the sluggish pace its development and use.

    F2P- Although the game is marketed as a F2P MMO, the free game's content is considerably lacking. You can only play on select servers, you get only 1/3 of the game world, and only 16 of the 26 skills cana be trained past level 5 to the standard level cap of 99. While you can raid instance-generated dungeons through Dungeoneering, PvE in terms of hunting down a boss with your mates in pursuit of drops simply does not exist. Methods of training and making money are significantly slower and over 80% of the game's content is members' only.

    PvP- There are two kinds of PvP; safe and dangerous the latter taking place in an area known as the Wilderness where players may kill other players for their items. Combat itself can be a bit clunky (EOC mode) and bland (Legacy mode). Except for Legacy-only servers, dangerous PvP is undertaken seldomly and by few players aside from scheduled, mass events known as 'Warbands.' The overall PvP experience significantly lags behind most games, despite the high-risk high-reward nature.

    Community: There isn't much content for mid level players (average skill stat of around 50) that can be undertaken with other players. The bulk of the community consists of either newbies (F2Pers) or veterans in P2P servers. As such, a mid-level, casual subscriber may occasionally feel like they're playing a solo-RPG instead of an MMO; constantly trying to catch up to the hardcore players.

    Conclusion: Runescape is an old game, for sure but its definitely worth checking out if you're a new/returning player. Even for a game this old, it has a remarkable amount of potential. All it really needs is a solid, long term plan for future growth on the developers' part, particularly in fixing the few gameplay elements that could really use a major overhaul.    … Expand

    The game's payment model is free-to-play, but has the option for players to upgrade to a member's subscription at a cost of £5.99/m, in free-to-play worlds, players may train 16/27 of the skills up to 99, this can however be more far more tedious than it is on a member's world as a lot of the high level training content is locked behind the members subscription and even when a player does reach that high level, a lot of the abilities they would unlock from them is also reserved for member's worlds. In this sense the free-to-play version of the game is more of a teaser of the whole game for new players rather than where many players play for real. The game does however have a way of obtaining a member's subscription without paying real money which I have explained above, so for those without the ability or money to pay for their subscription with real money this can be very helpful.
    Gameplay
    The main goal of most players in this game is to reach level 99 in all skills, 5 of these skills are combat only, while the most of the others are trained to give boosts to your combat ability or equipment etc. The skills range from Construction which can be used to build a player owned house which can be outfitted with many useful facilities, to dungeoneering which gives tokens that can be used to buy upgrades to combat equipment or skilling buffs aswell as reaching certain levels that unlock areas in the world.
    Reaching level 99 in a skill is no mean feat however, some skills are painfully slow to level unless large amounts of gold is spent on training supplies. So, for players who like slow grind mmos for a big reward it is a very rewarding game, however for those with less time or patience it may not be the best choice in game.
    Gold is the main currency for trading between players and most shops (some shops have their own special currency) it can be acquired through many, many different ways. Most players will make their money off rare drops from bosses however it can also be made by completing treasure trails, training skills, casting spells, and much, much more.
    The PvE content is slow to begin with, with monsters having no real threat to the player however, as the player begins to progress the monsters having increasingly harder mechanics that need to be correctly prepared for or dodged/blocked, very high-level monsters and bosses may have many different skills that need to be dealt with accordingly.
    Graphics
    While the graphics aren't revolutional or have a particularly stand-out art-style they are nice to look at and are quite satisfying especially when in newer recently updated areas.
    World Design
    Each area in runescape has its own unique feeling, the areas range from jungle tribe villages to large walled cities, small market towns to elven fortresses etc. These areas arent just a one time visit either, with runescapes non-linear levelling/progressions system these areas must be travelled to by the player often for quests that aren't just "kill 10 boars" but require an actual level of thinking. There is also the wilderness which is far less used than it was before the PvP content was killed, however it is still a large expanse that players must very infrequently travel through where they can be attacked and killed by other players for their currently held items.
    Bugs
    Bugs in the game are quite rare, however when they do come up they can be game breaking, in the sense that players who abuse them can make lots of money or gain lots of experience sometimes months before they are found. There have been a few cases of this happening, however some out of the few, Jagex have rolled the game servers back or banned the offending players and fixed the bug.
    Microtransactions
    Microtransactions are a very controversial topic between players of this game, while bonds which can be purchased with real money give some an unfair advantage, it does give people the option to pay for their memberships with in game money which can take several hours to earn.
    Treasure Hunter is a daily bonus that rewards players with lamps that give small-large amounts of xp bonuses, at a daily level of two keys this bonus is fine however, the keys for the bonus can be purchased with real money which gives people the ability to buy their way to level 99 in their skills, which takes away from the achievement of another player who may have gotten there with hard work.     I would have probably gave a 10 to RS2 but the third one definately deserves less. It is still a good game with tons of things to do and hours to spend grinding. However it feels like RuneScape lost its spirit with this third version and its new graphics and combat system. I would still recommend it because of the original no-class build system and the variety of activities and quests butI would have probably gave a 10 to RS2 but the third one definately deserves less.     Runescape 3? It's 8/10. The reason is that it's not what the game used to be. But I have to say a couple of good things: the quests, the music, the atmosphere, the people, the QoL fixes, the community, the devs. You haven't really seen anything if you haven't studied RS3 lore.     Although I rarely play RuneScape as of right now, I will write my review from an experienced perspective. RuneScape is addicting when it comes to leveling up your skills and combat level. The game encourages the player to keep on playing while new content is being added. RuneScape has truly changed a lot in terms of the economy and combat system. The new interface appears to be quite 'squashed' at first, but you can always make changes and/or remove certain tabs within the interface, which is a great, new addition to RuneScape.

    The combat system has truly changed. A player has to be attentive when fighting against another player in PVP, for one can easily be killed faster than the combat system from before, especially when it comes to 'members'. When it comes to training, it appears that RuneScape has removed 'AFK-Training' (away from keyboard training). Many training creatures/humans are no longer aggressive. Therefore, one has to keep on clicking on the creature/human rather than the old-fashioned training method (AFK-Training).

    The economy has fell due to certain removals and content. For instance, the evolution of combat caused many weapons, gears, and armor to have their prices fall greatly. Many combat items are starting to become affordable. Other than combat items, certain resources are on the path of taking too long to sell than before, for players are finding them of no use anymore. However, many items and resources are going up in demand.

    The mini-games within RuneScape are engaging, especially when it comes to mini-games that requires teamwork and communication. However, certain mini-games no longer have enough players that is required to play a game when it comes to free-to-play. For instance, Fist of Guthix and The Great Orb Project on free-to-play worlds rarely have any players due to certain reasons.

    The quests and story lines within RuneScape are satisfying for hours. From puzzles, combat, travelling long distances, solving clues, and discovering many findings, RuneScape has truly provided enough quests to satisfy free-to-play players, especially members. However, if one feels they are not satisfied, RuneScape is always updating and adding new quests and story lines, especially when it comes to the Seasonal contents.

    The community within RuneScape is truly engaging, but as always, there will be players who are acting unrighteous toward the community. That is why there is a 'Report' button, but players should understand when they should truly report a player. Otherwise, any false reports will result in a ban. If a player is bothering you, there are many solutions to avoid such a case (the ignore list or switching worlds).

    Outside the game, Jagex has always listened to their players, for they are important and they keep the game running. So, Jagex proposed a forum where players can engage, communicate, and propose their own ideas into the game. In fact, Jagex is always looking for additional content suggested by the community to put into the game. If a player has enough supporters and his/her suggested content is noticed by Jagex, their content will be added into the game. However, the community has a feeling that Jagex cares more about money than their players. This is due to certain contents within the game such as the Wheel of Fortune and the Solomon store. Players also believe that Jagex is primarily focusing on making free-to-play players becoming members.

    Many players see RuneScape as a 'ruined' game as of right now. Others still see it as an addicting game. To me, RuneScape falls within the satisfying category. The game provides enough content for fresh, new players, but many experienced players quit due to certain reasons. The combat system has changed a lot, which caused many to quit while others remained. The economy has spiked down a lot due to the downfall of prices on certain items. Certain mini-games are no longer being played within the free-to-play worlds. However, content is always being added, which may keep the players remained or quit. The community is engaging and friendly, but immature and unrighteous actions are common.

    RuneScape has been an experience for me. Although I rarely play, I will remember my moments within RuneScape. The game has truly changed a lot. The community has decreased, but there are still enough players to be seen around the world of RuneScape in certain areas. The game has given me countless hours of gaming, which ended up to be satisfying enough for me. Overall, fresh, new players will certainly experience a world filled with many things to do.    … Expand
