Dec 10, 2025Routine surprised me — a horror veteran — in all the right ways. Its worldbuilding feels real, the environments are rich and interesting, and its systems and controls really do immerse you. Add in the plentiful backtracking, unkillable foes, and light-touch signposting, though, and I think Routine will be one of 2025's more divisive horror games. But even with its handful of frustrations, this is still one of the most terrifying things I've played in years.

Dec 3, 2025A successful horror game with atmospheric sound and world design. Unfortunately, the enemy AI and story can't quite keep up.
-
Dec 2, 2025Routine blends an ’80s-style science-fiction atmosphere with tense, visually striking exploration. Despite its outdated mechanics and low-pressure encounters, its well-crafted puzzles and lunar setting provide strong immersion. The game doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it delivers a solid experience for fans of atmospheric horror.
-
Dec 2, 2025It's an incredibly atmospheric journey, where every room feels important to your progress, slowly but surely bringing you closer and closer to madness, but perhaps also to the truth. Routine may not write a new chapter in the history of horror, but it retells the old ones in a stylish way.
-
Jan 8, 2026Routine seems stuck in the past, and the long-awaited project has once again failed to meet expectations. The work of Lunar Software rather resembles a bizarre sequel to Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park: Trespasser, where the heroine would practically dislocate her arms trying to pick up a rock or a pistol.
-
Dec 2, 2025Unfortunately, while Routine has flashes of brilliance in its found-footage presentation and lovingly rendered Space Race-era tech, it’s unable to live up to a decade-plus of anticipation.

Dec 23, 2025With its retro futuristic aesthetics, Routine captures the feelings of the great sci-fi horror films like Alien. It isn’t perfect, and sometimes could be frustrating, but at the end, is a very interesting survival horror.[Recommended]

Dec 2, 2025Routine was announced over a decade ago at this point. So was it worth the wait? Hard to say, as I wasn’t waiting for it, but I can confirm that a decade after it was first revealed, Routine is a damn fine horror game that stands toe to toe with other heavy hitters of the genre.

Dec 2, 2025Routine is just a well-made sci-fi horror game. I wish I had a more elaborate closing note, but I've used up all my adjectives yammering about turbine noises and VHS-C. 2012 was a million years ago, but this elegantly cumbersome chillfest seems none the worse for the interruptions and extended spells in suspended animation. Congratulations, Lunar Software. You pulled off the moonshot. Now, let's get the hell out of here before that thing down the hall notices me typing.
